The fact that Walter died on his own terms was a bittersweet ending. His family hates him, they will never know the money came from him and he dies but he is able to provide for his family, say goodbye to them and save Jesse. Even the ending is perfect.
It's that bittersweet ending that is so well constructed, that you feel like something's missing, or it's just hard to accept, cause u expect conflict, reconciliation, or any sort of thunder, but there's just...cleansing, if u could call it that
You say Walter isn't punished for his crimes, but he lost basically the love of everyone who loved him. He also looses his morality. The punishment is his crimes.
Especially losing his son, the one person who always believed in him had completely turned and his son would always remember him as the man who destroyed the family. That seems like the perfect punishment.
Do People really suggest Walt got everything he wanted and had a smooth sailing ending?? His relationship with his family was DESTROYED he didn’t even get a proper goodbye from his son, and he’s relationship with Jesse who he DID care about was effectively ruined as well. And he also lost Hank. Far from smooth
"He didn't get punished." He literally had to go through the most losses in the series in like 4 episodes. First, his relationship with Jesse, a person who was like a son to him, is totally wrecked. Then, his brother in law gets murdered infront and because of him, whilist the group of people who killed him take almost all of the money he worked for. Right after that, his relationship with his actual son and the rest of his family, including his wife is so drastically ruined as well. He then has to ask people that wronged him so much, people he hates so much, to give the rest of the money to his son as if it was from them.
This is before el Camino, which confirms that Walt died at the scene. Also who didn’t like the ending of this show??? It was perfect… also his punishment is losing everything he did this for ( his family ) his son won’t even talk to him and his wife hates him just as much
He very clearly states that he did this for himself. He doesn't care. He never did. He just wanted to be killed on his own terms. He didn't deserve to die happily but ultimately it was a satisfying ending.
@@SauceageTF Well no. He started this for his family but later on found himself enjoying it. He still wanted to provide after his death and he kept doing everything to keep his family save regardless of his connection to them
Before this video i had never heard anyone complain about the ending! I find it odd that full closure and Walter not getting punished are negative points because they do not define what makes good TV. Ive seen series like Sopranos where they don't give you the closure (despite making it very obvious) and people get upset about it. As for Walter dying on his own terms... why not? lifes not fair, i don't see it as a bad decision.
+xisumavoid Xisuma, I haven't seen the series but I see your point, Why would it be wrong that he died on his own terms? I am guessing because people disliked him they didn't want him to chose himself or get a painless death
Yeah I never heard anybody complain about this ending either. We had just had the dexter finale back then which was complete shit so this seems like absolute gold in comparison. Hell they also gave abrams shit over that LOST finale that same night. However I am very relieved this wasn't just a rehash of the "it's a dream and Walters dead in the car" theory. In reality everything possible popular ending was shown in the final season. The midseason finale shows what it would've looked like if Walter had gotten away with it completely. You get to see Hank slap the cuffs on him, and you see what it would've looked like if he had died alone in that cabin hiding like a rat.
@@fikrijuanda6321 As it should be. Walt had his time but it had to end. Walter literally has nothing left to live for by the end of the show whereas Jesse still has a whole life ahead of him
@@belgiancheesehead4778 Well... If we really think about it, when Walter first learned that his skills could be applied to cook meth, what was his end goal? To supply his family by any means necessary. He had his ups and downs with both Skyler and Walt JR. But as we see in the first episode, he seems unhappy, he's belittled by his son, wife, and brother in law, he lost his share in a million dollar business, he's stuck at a dead-end high-school teaching job, and on top of it, he gets diagnosed with cancer. I believe that Walter always had it in him, he just refused to show it. So this translates all the way to the final episode, where all of his goals are met, he killed everyone that stood in his way including Gus, he perfected a questionable but profitable art, saved Jessie from the Neo-Nazis, and in the end, he knows that his family will have enough money to supply them for good, while simultaneously getting revenge on the people who rejected him, he didn't get punished, he went through hardships for sure, but I think even Jessie went through more, as we see in El Camino, and he wasn't even the mastermind behind it all. Walter died on his own terms, as the video says, and this is confirmed by the apology he gives Skyler in the end, but that's just my take of it.
The secret about Game/Film Theory is that MatPat is a fucking idiot who happens to make really entertaining content. He’d also just a shitty person in general, but that’s neither here nor there.
Can you imagine how it would undermine the premise of the entire show if he got to just ride of into the sunset, everything went his way, as a big hero? Ugh, that woulda been insane.
The Bad Finger song, Baby Blue, at the end was brilliant...Opening line, "I guess I got what I deserved..." And then, the last line of the verse "...the special love I had for you, my baby blue..."
Or maybe matpat was just trying to validate his video by saying people didn't like it. After all, there are haters for everything. But that is definitely misleading
@@cctomcat321 it was as noir an ending as you could get. The monstrous Walter White gets some form of atonement and twisted justice against even worse monsters. And they wrapped up the family angle so well too. The finale for something like a breaking bad had to be about consequences, and boy were there many. What else did you need? What did you think was dumb?
Walter lost everything that he originally valued. Getting closure was somewhat frustrating, but it’s not like he got any forgiveness from his family, or even Jesse. In terms of his business, he did succeed though, killing his enemies and making sure the money reaches his family. Heisenberg succeeded and got closure, not Walt.
"Walter has no punishment for his crimes, he wins" >Lost up to $70 million dollars that won't be going to his family >His family that he did all of this for along with future generations will forever despise him >Had to watch as a member of his own family is executed in front of him despite the fact he offered the entirety of his money to prevent it >He failed to come even close to getting enough wealth to surpass Gray Matter's worth of $2.6 billion dollars or even what his share would have been worth by then which is around $720 million dollars >His family (if they do get the money from Gray Matter as Walt directed them to) will reject the money if they realize that it originally came from him which seems very possible. What's the probability of Skyler connecting the dots or Elliot/Gretchen telling her eventually after working a method to tell her without arousing suspicion from the "hitmen"?
The reason he did it in the first place was to be the kingpin because of his skills. He did it of completely selfish reasons. He wanted to reach his potential which he did. He even took down the people trying to steal his legacy. He won..
El Camino debunks this theory, but this theory was made before El Camino. It's not that he didn't do thorough research, it's that he didn't have all the info at the time.
1. I’ve literally never heard anyone complain about the ending of the series 2. Walter obviously dies 3. He didn’t get “everything he wants”; his family despised him, and have no idea that the money for his kids is actually from him, which is what he wanted more than anything all along. Not just money, but the recognition that he was the one who earned it
I don't think that you have a clue about what you're talking about. Walt dies on his own terms. He deserves so much worse. He doesn't care about his family, he clearly states that. He wanted to be noticed and he succeeded in that.
@@everittoverton8398 It was his last ditch move. He was trying to make up for how selfish he was. He realized that he failed and that all he could do was leave money for his family.
No punishment for his crimes? What about the fact that his son fucking hates him and will never view him favorably for the rest of his life? I think that was a pretty severe catch to the whole "he won" thought process.
Ya now he hates him because he's an emotional teen he thinks he killed Hank and Walt didn't get to explain himself he'll probably feel different after skylar explains what happened and what he did for them
this is how this scene was written in the script “We look straight down on Walt as he tumbles into frame, lying flat on his back on the floor. His eyes stare up at us, *lifeless.* And yet, his *final* expression is one of faint satisfaction. We slowly CRANE UP, UP and AWAY from him. Walt shrinks smaller and smaller in frame. POLICE OFFICERS approach him now -- four, six, eight of them. They move in cautiously, their guns aimed. *They’re too late. He got away”* yeah... hes dead.
totally agree'd, it pisses me off that someone would make a video trying to explain how he didnt die. i loved breaking bad, and my all time favourite actor is 100% Bryan Cranston. but atleast i can accept the fact he died, and love the way he went out.
Walt never died. he went into witness relocation under the name Hal. then he met some woman named Lois & her four boys, Francis, Reese, Malcolm & Dewey.
Its so poetic that his main reason for doing all of this is because he was going to die anyways from an unstoppable cancer but in the end it was his own gun.
He lost his familys love though. His life never meant anything to him in the end. When his family left him and his son hanged up on him his heart was crushed. I would say that he lost almost all he ever cared for. the only thing he had left was his lab, which he eventually lost aswell with his death.
The Chubby Link except dangerous drugs like meth should be illegal(obviously) and free health care should be given to citizen that pays their taxes(like some 1st world countries)
Bullshit. I have never met even ONE person who 'was frustrated with the ending'. What would you have preferred? For a Dexter type ending where our 'Hero' loses everything and everyone and the whole show just sort of implodes in on itself? Now THAT'S an ending that pissed everyone right off..
I was unhappy with it at first, but after I rewatched it, I realized just how genius it was, everybody's story came full circle, Walt made amends, and his method of death was unexpected, as opposed to seeing him rot in prison or slip away in a hospital bed from his cancer.
***** Really? Never expected a druglord to die from a gunshot wound? Considering he's the "hero" of the story, seeing him suffer and rot away would have been less expected an ending.
"No consequences?" Are you kidding? He died knowing that his wife and son hated his guts, and that his daughter would never know him. He had lost the thing that was most important to him--his family.
"He had lost the thing that was most important to him--his family." His pride was the most important thing. Its the reason he left Gray Matter, it's the reason he became a teacher, and its the reason he chose to reject The Schwartz offer to pay for his treatment. The most honest moment between Walt and Skylar is at the end, when he finally admits he did it all for himself...not his family.
Sean Theurer most probably Jesse was caught by the police because his fingerprints were all over the meth lab, where walt collapsed, and maybe he was on the hook for the death of two federal agents
Can't agree that he went unpunished. He may have gained his empire and found a way to give the money to his family, but he destroyed everything in his path doing so. By the end, he had nothing left. Everyone he ever knew either hated him or were dead.
But still I can't forgive him for all the horrible things he did to Jesse and making it his fault for Jesse being imprisoned and the neo Nazis killing Andrea compared to how his selfishness affected Jesse he got off very easily
@@melonman4260you cant compare the pain from jesse with walts pain. They both suffered very much, jesse a bit more but he got a little happy ending, while walt didn’t as much (as he wasn’t a slave for the neo naz!s) but he didn’t got a really nice ending
I definitely would not call the ending to breaking bad a victory for Walter White. his entire family hates him, his daughter will grow up either not knowing who her father really was, or knowing he was a violent murderous drug dealer, he basically lost all respect from everyone he knew, his house was destroyed, and he died knowing it was his fault his brother in law was dead. Sounds pretty great to me!
+Eddy W I can't imagine Holly growing up with a good opinion of Walt. By the time she's old enough to comprehend, she'll only remember her dad as this ruthless and murderous gangster, who killed her uncle and terrorized her family.
Except he did, his son, the person who was usually on his side and is named after him, will forever remember him as the one who destroyed their family. Loosing his family was the punishment.
This finale was a total victory for Walter White and I'm sure he died happy for what he did and what he created. The reason why is because... Walter avenged Hank's death by killing Jack and the Nazis. He said a proper goodbye to his wife and family. Walter and Jesse both forgave each other of all the things that they did(the nods that they gave each other at the end) Walter dies in a meth lab of who he has become. Of what he has created. Of how he created...Heisenberg This finale was one of the best finales that I have ever seen. This show is the best thing that I have ever seen on television(beats all of the movies that watched). I really hope people will read this response because of what breaking bad means to me. R.I.P Walter White You will forever be in our hearts
The ending of the series broke my heart, everything from that kids and Mikes death and further, is dramatic af. I dont like the fact that Walter junior hates him, and i wish Hank never found that book in the bathroom :(
DerekSiems Better Call Saul is the Prequel so it is before breaking bad in timeline so that could happen unless there is epilogue that passed breaking bad that the trial happens at the end which would be epic
It's also possible to be an alternate telling from Saul's angle. It's a prequel now, but any time we could enter the breaking bad timeline and we already see glimpses of him in the post-Breaking Bad times working at Cinnabon. Who's to say Walter won't pull him out of retirement?
If you have seen the first 3 seasons of Better Call Saul, it's not entirely the prequel of Breaking Bad. Better call Saul begins with an old aged Saul watching an old advertisement which reminds him of himself during his struggling days and then from that moment on, the Flashback starts, and this flipover from Flashbacks to Present time( the time after events of Breaking Bad) has been shown atleast 3 times during first 3 seasons. 1. I say there's a huge probability, that someone will knock on his doorstep and say "Yo Bitch, Mister White needs your help" (And if you're a fan , you know who I'm talking about". 2. And during the present time, Saul is shown leading a miserable life as a dishwasher in some mediocre restaurant, if he gets the opportunity to practice law again, he would gladly take it. That's the reason he would gladly accept Walter White's case if he gets the chance.
we can't apply that medical logic in breaking bad. it's the same series where one antagonist gets half of his head blown off and lives for a few seconds instead of dying inmediatly.
+agustin jimenez exactly. the same show where, somehow, walt slipped that ricin in lydia's stevia pack while it was in her hand without her noticing it at all
+Jarrell Jones No. Walt went the diner ahead of time and switched the packets, because she ALWAYS met him at the same diner at the same table and always had 1 stevia.
Well theoretically he would still be in shock and if part of his body was still functional he could be able to move for a few seconds before collapsing A case where someone had scissors jammed in their head they were able to walk around make breakfast and get the mail because they were so used to it they did it without thinking Gus may have been used to walking and do it without thinking
Walter wasn't that bad. He only wanted to leave some money for his family but other drug sellers tried to kill him, crush him and he became mad. Poor Walty :(
+Arcane Mage Well he kinda had to. At some point he would have figured something out. His experience would have promised Walt's death. Mike was just too dangerous.
+HantalGazi Walt wasn't a bad guy at first. He did have good intentions but once he had enough to keep his family secure he could have stopped cooking. He actually had this opportunity several times throughout the series. Instead though he became more greedy and more ruthless. Walt didn't need 80 million dollars for his family to be alright. He even said in the last episode that he didn't do it for his family. He said he did it for himself, he liked it, and he was good at it.
+Steven Nicke I think you're a sociopath mate, you don't have any empathy at all. He wanted many of the things we all want an he'd gotten tired of being walked over throughout his life. I can't excuse all his actions, but if you're trying to label him a monster you should take a long hard look at yourself first
Everyone has already said it but I’ve literally never heard someone complain about the ending. In fact for years I’ve heard abt how good it was. Watching it recently I can also certainly say it was far from cliché
11:55 WRONG!!!! You can see the police officer wave his head, saying "no" to the other officer. You DO see his reaction. Walt has no pulse, which decreases his chances of surviving. Also, didn't the creators of the show say that Walter White died in that last scene?
ZpLitgaming He definitely shaked his head. And I didn't say he was dead. I said he had no pulse. And once your pulse is gone, you better get it back fast or you will be dead.
Lynne the Trendy Tetraodontiforme Watch more carefully. After he takes his pulse he shakes his head. It's very subtle. I actually saw that the second time I saw the ending. I didn't catch it at all the first time.
+Wisecrack i thought it was odd that my sub box was blown up with breaking bad videos.. i cant recommend wise cracks enough people they have some of the greatest shows on there channel
He lost most of his beloved "life's work" money, his brother in law Hank dies and his wife and son hate him.... I wouldn't call that a complete victory???
Alfie Bower he left his son millions for when he turns 18, he had people from all over the place trying to kill him, police looked at him as one of the highest priorities. In this case, death was an easy escape as he found comfort in knowing his family is now safe. Could you imagine trying to live with that much stress and uncertainty?
Q de quejo under the extreme circumstances he was placed under, yes. You also need to remember this is a TV show and its unlikely anyone would have to go through what he did
+HisRoyalCarlness Agree I did hope more for jesse I hope better saul touches on that maybe like a reunion with his little brother or something or heck how about jesse becoming a chem teacher that would be great
+HisRoyalCarlness Gotta say I've watched that last episode god knows how many times and talked about it with SO many people and never ever heard the phrases "cop-out" or anything like that. Only ever been cited as one of the greatest endings in tv history in my experience.
+HisRoyalCarlness I also agree. I came to BB late, but then pretty much binge watched it, and loved it for the same reasons as everyone else, and one of which was the ending which felt satisfying, unlike SO many tv series these days. But this explanation is good too, makes sense, and I had heard that there was going to be a follow up. As TFT say, so much of this story was so carefully thought out and planned out and foreshadowed, it would not be surprising to find that they had planned this too.
Personally I loved the ending and I think that he didn’t get a complete victory, he will never see his children grow and he died with them hating him, his wife wanted him dead, he indirectly killed his brother in law, etc.
Walt didn't get punished? He lost his family, he lost his best friend, his money was stolen, he was forced into hiding where he was isolated with no one to talk to for over a year. That ending was simply giving Walt a little mercy.
+The Trolldier Walter made at least $80 million and not all of his money was stolen. He ensured that his son would get $10 million in less than a year.
Man, going back and seeing this just makes me laugh. How on earth did people see it as Walt lost nothing, HE LOST EVERYTHING, and the triumph of the last ep is watching him regain even a shred of all the humanity is threw away for 5 seasons. He didn't go out on his terms, but his final act was a great one, making their be a degree of ambiguity in when you can say he truly threw it all away and what he actually cared about is part of why I enjoyed the ending so much.
+Sam Huxley I get it. It was a great show that could have went down more avenues or went longer with the original cast. But, as with most movies and TV Sitcoms, once your bring something back, it never has the same appeal.
"BIRD'S EYE VIEW: we look straight down on Walt as he tumbles into frame, lying flat on his back on the floor. His eyes stare up at us, lifeless. And yet, his final expression is one of faint satisfaction." >lifeless Sorry but I'm pretty sure he's done lol
Walter didn't die but he had sauls contact so when they weren't in court he called Saul and talked to the vacuum guy again, then he changed his name and that's what Malcolm in the Middle is.
Tom Bobby Yes. I know. BUT. Second chances as in you can’t back out. He could use it twice and just pay double or something. What Jesse did in the movie
@@maple6894 He said it himself that if Walter walked off the property line he wouldn't come back/help him at the point. Considering he will not give a 2nd chance if you change your mind I guarantee he would not give a 2nd chance at restarting your life unless you have much much more money than Walter had at the current point in time. But even then I still doubt he would because if you are willing to step out of the bounds and call the cops on your self and put him as potential liability. Plus he seems to be the kind of man that doesn't give 2nd chances no matter what circumstance.
The one thing Walt truly wanted was to be remembered fondly after his death. He told walt jr that in like season 4 and he said it in like episode 3 or 4. Everyone hates him and he died knowing that.
Alfred Dean Saying "Breaking Bad sucks" only shows how incapable your mind is at recognizing artistic brilliance. I hope you're just a kid or something because that's the only excuse.
He got all the remaining drug money to his family, he saved his partner, he got revenge on the ones that crossed him with a turret he made from his car( witch was the most genius thing I’ve seen). After he got those things done then and only then was he ready to die.. I really love this ending because he tied all lose ends.
The point is he doesn't deserve a happy ending by the end of it! Walt effed up so much because he was a selfish greedy ass. Sure he "learned his lesson" last second and is the reason Jessie is free, but that's the least he could do for everything he put Jessie through! Walt deserved to become cured of his cancer and end up in prison.
I can't be the only one seeing this. When the cop goes to check Walt's pulse, he gets the reading and CLEARLY shakes his head back and forth (the universal gesture for "no"), even the other cop covering him with the pistol nods at him in confirmation. It would seem that if they got even the slightest sign of a pulse they would begin life-saving procedures immediately but they don't they just confirm what we already thought, barring some miracle in the ambulance where they bring him back to life, Walt is dead.
Dumb theory, though certainly a better one than this all just being Jesse's dream while he sleeps on chemistry class. Stupid conclusions like this are not creative at all and take all the weight and impact away from the story.
that would actually make for a great show and one of the kids could be really intelligent but the family is extremely dysfunctional due to Walt's PTSD and other maladaptive behaviors. Then at the ending Malcolm drops out of Harvard due to lack of stimulation but keeps working as a janitor to solve random mathematical equations.
+Patrick Mckenna Right, but how did he get up and walk away as if nothing happened for about a minute? We spent 14 minutes talking about how Walter could possibly be alive, but I'd say this show defies physics. Walter can more than definitely be alive if Gus can shake off half his body being blown off before eating dust.
Gus only survived seconds after the killing injury. Compare to Walt, who lived long enough to have a conversation with Jessie, talk to the girl to tell her he poisoned her, and walk to the meth lab.
+Wesley Whiteside It was just a fun thing that they have added Gus was a powerfull character a loved one he cant just "HAAAAAA!" and dissapear I think thats why they did it
+Wesley Whiteside Gustavo's death was "dramatic license". Sure the pimp bomb clearly obliterated both Tio and that piece of shit Tyrus, however Gus was further away, and he even stood up and back up a bit right when he realized he was FUCKED. They HAD to suspend disbelief just a little, because EVERYONE who saw that episode live watched Gus walk out, seemingly unscathed, and we were fucking speechless. Only then when the nurses look horrified do we realize, something is wrong, camera pans over to Gus missing half his face. He probably had no idea half his face was missing, since the bomb likely blew him across the room, he got up dazed and stunned, took a few steps, fixed his tie, keeled over dead. Believable enough for a fictional TV show. Not only was half his face blown off, he would've had shrapnel wounds equivalent to gunshots all over his body, as well as brain trauma.

@Ευαγγελος Ζερβας I mean the creator confirmed he was dead so...yeah he's dead.
@Ευαγγελος Ζερβας Dude even the creator said that he died stop being so stupid
That ending was 10/10. It isn't really a happy ending but it's not a depressing ending either.
"I guess i got, what i deserve" - Badfinger Baby Blue (the song during walts death scene)
It’s good closure
It’s a good ending for Walt, this is literally what he wanted from the beginning
Hated the ending
It’s kind of a bittersweet ending
Before this video i had never heard anyone complain about the ending! I find it odd that full closure and Walter not getting punished are negative points because they do not define what makes good TV. Ive seen series like Sopranos where they don't give you the closure (despite making it very obvious) and people get upset about it. As for Walter dying on his own terms... why not? lifes not fair, i don't see it as a bad decision.
+xisumavoid OMG hey xisumavoid what up :)
+xisumavoid Xisuma, I haven't seen the series but I see your point, Why would it be wrong that he died on his own terms? I am guessing because people disliked him they didn't want him to chose himself or get a painless death
+xisumavoid Wasn't expecting toi see you here...
+xisumavoid Good to see you here, man. I do see your point, it does make a statement about life.

“There is no punishment for the things Walt did” ARE WE WATCHING THE SAME SHOW HERE?
Yeah wtf is he on about
@@belgiancheesehead4778 Well...

I thought it was dumb. Partly because of all that "best episode ever" bull.
In a world of finales like Dexter, be Breaking Bad. I can't imagine this ending being any better.
"Walter has no punishment for his crimes, he wins"
>Lost up to $70 million dollars that won't be going to his family
>His family that he did all of this for along with future generations will forever despise him
>Had to watch as a member of his own family is executed in front of him despite the fact he offered the entirety of his money to prevent it
>He failed to come even close to getting enough wealth to surpass Gray Matter's worth of $2.6 billion dollars or even what his share would have been worth by then which is around $720 million dollars
>His family (if they do get the money from Gray Matter as Walt directed them to) will reject the money if they realize that it originally came from him which seems very possible.
He won..
Anders Fejer well at least the first like season and a half is for the family
The money would go to Walt Jr and Holly
No, he won by a large margin, considering the things he’s been through. Those are small costs for what he’s done.

Bullshit. I have never met even ONE person who 'was frustrated with the ending'. What would you have preferred? For a Dexter type ending where our 'Hero' loses everything and everyone and the whole show just sort of implodes in on itself? Now THAT'S an ending that pissed everyone right off..
I would much rather know if poor freakin Jesse didn't just get pulled over and detained by incoming police during his dramatic drive to freedom
Oh no, please... don't remind me of Dexter's series finale. It's taken me _years_ to repress that utterly disappointing memory.
Well, yeah, I for one would have wanted that kind of ending, not in the way Dexter did it though. I hated Walter White.
"He had lost the thing that was most important to him--his family."
His pride was the most important thing. Its the reason he left Gray Matter, it's the reason he became a teacher, and its the reason he chose to reject The Schwartz offer to pay for his treatment. The most honest moment between Walt and Skylar is at the end, when he finally admits he did it all for himself...not his family.
Exactly!!!! Was just going to day, at the end he admits to Skylar " I did it for myself,...and I liked it, I felt alive"
But he lost everything else
It's a poetic ending "He got what he always wanted, and lost everything he already had."
The crime was the punishment. He becomes so unhappy in his life and generally unsatisfied

He said a proper goodbye to his wife and family.

Oh my god, if Better Call Saul ends with the Walter White trial...
DerekSiems that would be incredible
DerekSiems Better Call Saul is the Prequel so it is before breaking bad in timeline so that could happen unless there is epilogue that passed breaking bad that the trial happens at the end which would be epic
It's also possible to be an alternate telling from Saul's angle.
It's a prequel now, but any time we could enter the breaking bad timeline and we already see glimpses of him in the post-Breaking Bad times working at Cinnabon. Who's to say Walter won't pull him out of retirement?
Better Call Saul actually encompasses the timeline before, during and after Breaking Bad.

But this explanation is good too, makes sense, and I had heard that there was going to be a follow up. As TFT say, so much of this story was so carefully thought out and planned out and foreshadowed, it would not be surprising to find that they had planned this too.
Plot twist: Walt cant afford treatment costs for his gunshot wound so he gets a job teaching chemistry.
Personally I loved the ending and I think that he didn’t get a complete victory, he will never see his children grow and he died with them hating him, his wife wanted him dead, he indirectly killed his brother in law, etc.
Omg I cant stop crying i just finished it can someone help me
Cobravenom That‘s exactly what makes it perfect
You guys are nuts if you think that was a "perfect" or "satisfying" ending. It wasn't it was sh*t.
Totally agree
@Wanted Hamster lol actually no little NPC my life is fantastic 😁 if you're auditioning to be a psychic don't quit your day job you suck at it.
I liked how you theorised everything there, but I’m pretty sure the writers declared that he did in fact die in the last episode.
They said it I'm the movie and the movie wasn't created at the release of this video
@@melonman4260 Yeah, it was confirmed in "El Camino"
Walt didn't get punished? He lost his family, he lost his best friend, his money was stolen, he was forced into hiding where he was isolated with no one to talk to for over a year. That ending was simply giving Walt a little mercy.
You're Goddamn Right....
+The Trolldier and yet he won
math is right
+The Trolldier Walter made at least $80 million and not all of his money was stolen. He ensured that his son would get $10 million in less than a year.
+The Trolldier No but- but, he's the bad guy! How can he not get put in jail with all the other bad guys! It's a bad ending! /s
He was going to die alone in a cabin painfully for crying out loud!
Man, going back and seeing this just makes me laugh. How on earth did people see it as Walt lost nothing, HE LOST EVERYTHING, and the triumph of the last ep is watching him regain even a shred of all the humanity is threw away for 5 seasons. He didn't go out on his terms, but his final act was a great one, making their be a degree of ambiguity in when you can say he truly threw it all away and what he actually cared about is part of why I enjoyed the ending so much.
does anyone want another season but don't at the same time? is it just me?
+Sam Huxley I get it. It was a great show that could have went down more avenues or went longer with the original cast. But, as with most movies and TV Sitcoms, once your bring something back, it never has the same appeal.
Brandon Smith couldn't have described it better
+Sam Huxley An episode would bee satisfying.
I love Breaking Bad, and I'm sad it's over, but I think it was concluded nicely. There's really no need for more.
I just want one epilogue episode that shows all of the falling action, and the aftermath.
Am I the only one who really liked the ending?
no
Nah I kinda cried, but the ending fits
I liked the ending, but i didnt like the episodes leading up to the ending
I think this was the only way the show could have ended. Walt died ''in peace'', so I am a hundred percent content.
+LadyStarkgaryen I told my brother this and he said it was stupid
I think he should've cooked a batch that was 100+%
Script:
Walter [dies on floor, pan camera out]
lol
Dies not died, I can say I'm dying but not dead so there is chance of survival
"BIRD'S EYE VIEW: we look straight down on Walt as he tumbles into frame, lying flat on his back on the floor. His eyes stare up at us, lifeless. And yet, his final expression is one of faint satisfaction."
>lifeless
Sorry but I'm pretty sure he's done lol
Loooool
@@TheKrake36 "his eyes stare up at us, lifeless."
Pretty sure lifeless refers to his eyes there, not Walt.
In El Camino which came out 4 years after this video, has Jesse listen to a radio that said authorities found Walter dead at the scene
It's public information remember
@@TF2Scout.. Which means...?They could be hiding him from others?
@@matosuhalj7033 why tf would they hide the fact that walt died
@@aneeshmudaliar5561 I asked,I did not state that, that is why I put question marks. It seems weird to me.
@@matosuhalj7033 bruv a question mark doesnt always mean a question ... it also means a theory
It's too bad that El Camino disproved this theory by confirming his death.
Too bad? It was obvious that he was dead at the end of the show
No not really actually I think it's pretty good
He is prolly kept secret by the government who knows
He was put in a kind of informal witness protection
This theory is really bad and misses the point.
Walter didn't die but he had sauls contact so when they weren't in court he called Saul and talked to the vacuum guy again, then he changed his name and that's what Malcolm in the Middle is.
I wish I was earlier to this video ngl
The vacuum guy as you call him doesn't do second chances Saul says so to Jesse when Jesse ditches on him. The vacuum guy does it once.
No no no... BB was all Hal's dream from Malcom in the Middle... It's in the alternate ending....
The one thing Walt truly wanted was to be remembered fondly after his death. He told walt jr that in like season 4 and he said it in like episode 3 or 4. Everyone hates him and he died knowing that.
Remember that time Walt threw a pizza on the roof
That was fun
Ok
But remember
Kilo ren is a thick boi
Siberistica **"That was art"
I'm given to understand that pizza throw happened on the first take.. good stuff..
Llama Liam Yes, I heard that too! 🍕
Its on the house
that moment i actually just watched the entire series in a month just so i could watch this video...
Was it worth it
Vahig Melkonyan EVERY SINGLE MOMENT OF IT
same man lmao
same here. i watch the whole 1st season in a day
Alfred Dean Saying "Breaking Bad sucks" only shows how incapable your mind is at recognizing artistic brilliance.
Vision Beats I said remaining.. even so 9 million is a shit ton of money.
Uhmmm who did u just call a witch or did u mean which
Bailey Watson not all loose ends, his son that used to love and respect him now hates his guts and wanted him to die!
Then El Camino gets released years later and defeats his analysis
you look like Walt Jr
Acts like him too
fucking got em bro
Honestly I was surprised he didn't mention that... they look so similar
Vince Gilligan said he was dead. also the script page of Felina says that he dies
ExplosiveGaming Glover the producers of Game of Thrones said Jon Snow was dead, and so did his script. Lets just say he isnt dead
gunstickman let's just say he is dead. I'd rather go with the creator and script.
gunstickman also I feel the ending is 10x better if he dies
ExplosiveGaming Glover yeah i think hes dead too, but theres always that small chance :)
I like to believe that the entirety of Breaking Bad is just his students making up stories about their weird professor.
Can you imagine what Walt woulda been like if he was a Substitute teacher? It would justify him being a meth kingpin.
This reminds me of that Tumblr post about edgy TV theories.
i.redd.it/fwi4l0rh4ecz.jpg
Dumb theory, though certainly a better one than this all just being Jesse's dream while he sleeps on chemistry class. Stupid conclusions like this are not creative at all and take all the weight and impact away from the story.
@@wombat4191
It was a joke. I'm sorry that you didn't get it though, better luck next time
@@artemisorwhatever9828 I don't see what's funny about your joke. If it was sarcasm, it maybe failed because I couldn't hear your sarcastic voice.
it's funny how El Camino threw this whole theory out the window
He doesn't die and he moves away and starts a new family and has a 3 sons and names one malcolm
Five, not three. Francis, Reese, Malcolm, Dewey, and Jamie.
that would actually make for a great show and one of the kids could be really intelligent but the family is extremely dysfunctional due to Walt's PTSD and other maladaptive behaviors. Then at the ending Malcolm drops out of Harvard due to lack of stimulation but keeps working as a janitor to solve random mathematical equations.
Jason Smith lol breaking bad prequel to Malcolm in the middle which is a prequel to good will hunting XD
Malcolm in the middle
lmao
“You could not satisfy everyone” not met one person on earth who doesn’t like it
I didn’t like it so never meet me.
@@ItzTruthHurts What wasn’t to like?
@CaptianZesty those type of people never give answers.
Ok. Now use that science to explain Gustavo's death....
+Wesley Whiteside that's some philosophical shit mate, to show both of his personalities
Matt: Walt is still alive
El Camino: I'm about to end this man's whole career
Literally the most universally appreciated ending in the history of television lol wtf are you talking about?
calm down junior
This video is so many years old and at the time people probably didn’t like the ending at first. How are you going to say this years after the video came out
@@quenguin7866 where's my breakfast?
I agree with you, but you have to keep in mind that Matt Pat makes theories literally as his job. making theories, especially eight years ago, was/is a part of his income
the thing with Felina is that it aged REALLY well. It was still liked at the time (It has maintained an IMDb of 9.9 since it's aired) but even more appreciated nowadays. This video is kind of an interesting time capsule
