      Thank you . I started doing this because 90 percent of what I saw on yt was fake or misleading and I figured nobody would ever be able to farm trying to copy it

    Chris, I love your content and we are going to small farm. We bought our first piglet and that rascal broke out part of the fence and run off. I am hoping he will come back but I’m not holding my breath. So now we are going to find another one! Not going to get discouraged! Thanks for what you do!

    Good video ! Ya I am set up to grow pigs. I am not set up to Raise / breed etc…..
    I started with feeder pigs & unless I was to sell I think for me is the best financial way to go.
    I am set up for 3-4 feeders a year comfortably.

      You are correct , growing feeders is the best for pork no question . Breeding is a whole different ball game ten times the output and risk

    my brother and i got 3 pigs 2 weeks ago, we bought them to butcher in the fall, i had forgot how much i enjoyed them when i was a kid growing up, thank you for telling it like it is. i guess some people think the product in the meat case at the store just falls out of space or somewhere.

    I had five litters this year and great out come 11/12, 11/12, 8/9, 12/12, and 10/14 lived and sold most for $100-$150 a pig just started last spring and love it... Way better than cattle and they are full of personality

      Hogs are a better fit on a small farm and a whole lot more potential to make same profit

    I watched a video of someone using a pressure washer to remove the hair on a pig, not sure if it was scalded first or not but man was it quick

      I assume they had to be scalded , we've done it with a steam jenny and it was fast

    Thank you, that tourch scalding seems fast. Can you do that with a fully grown out feeder pig?

      I don't know for sure but it's faster and easier on a bbq pigs . I'm thinking a bigger torch might be needed for a hog

    I personally think a good meat hook for little sucklings makes scrapping much easier when hanging, but I was scalding in water and it was slippery as hell ... Like the torch idea

      I like it better it's a lot less messy and as fast or faster . Not sure how it'll do on a big hog but I'm going to find out

    I started in a slaughter house - some 45 yrs ago. Worked from the "ill floor" to shipping and drove truck. We used propane then. I gotta say she looks good, but light as you say. Nice meat though!

      Those pigs were some culls I got stuck with wouldn't grow. I was impressed with the torch

      That's possible, might not be easy but it is possible. Finding someone willing to pay a reasonable price for the extra you raise is the hard part

    Chris, don't get discouraged. The message that you put out there is a good one with honest truths. It sounds to me like the person that left the comment made the best decision for them based off of the information you gave them. That's what your channel is about. Don't let that discourage you. Hang in there. If you ever want share a recipe for that vinegar sauce we'd be listening. Best of luck and keep that good content coming.

    I don't think u discouraged her u just told the truth. Don't feel bad about it. If u watch most people on you tube they say its a profit in it and it might be a little in it if u make your own feed like u do and have a market for it.

      You can make a little profit but not like " they" claim and it's takes way more work to build a customer base than to raise the pigs

    What kind of pig would you recommend for a first time grower and how many

      Any large breed or cross , breed isn't as much of a concern as people make like just stear clear of small slow growing breeds ( the ones everyone on UA-cam says get ) and two or three do the best and aren't any more trouble than one

    Hey Chris. I live in Arkansas and I'm goin to get to feeder pigs next fall. How much field corn would I need to grow to get them up to 250. Gonna grind and mix with minerals. Thanks for any advice you can give

      If you get fairly good pigs they should turn 2.5 or 3 lbs of feed into a pound of pork And you can use a quarter rye or wheat in the mix feeding out tops . My recipe is 30 lbs corn 10 lbs rye/wheat 7 lbs bean meal 2 lbs mineral / vitamin mix and a pound of dry molasses I mix in a little used cooking oil to keep it from being so dusty

    It's going to be new to me on the hair remover ..I have a big torch head. If a hog is muddy ect. Wash him down.then torch.i was told..should come out white skin..
    Learned hog BBQ.in your neck of the woods... vinegar. Sauce..Great tasting BBQ hog with the vinegar drench...

    Great video! We did try the torch method last month after you told me about it and it’s my new favorite method! So fast! You guys have helped so many folks including us! Our swine operation would not be where it is today without y’all! We love and appreciate you soo much! As far your live videos they don’t need to be on Friday I know I can speak for many of your faithful followers we will tune in anytime if you let us know when to tune in if you have a good day that you’re feeling up to it!We’ve missed a few just cause farm life gets in the way but anytime we see you put up a video we tune in quick as we can!
