- Academic AJ Deus recently published a paper claiming that the inscriptions found in the Dome of the Rock were actually made in the 16th century - not the 7th as is claimed by Islam. Is this a legitimate claim? Besides the wear and tear that inscriptions this old should be showing but don’t, there is no mention of these inscriptions at all before the 16th century. There were also Christian Crusaders who had control of the Temple Mount for 200 years who would not have left such blasphemy to remain. Watch as Al Fadi and Brother Mel begin to unpack the probable conclusion that this claim is indeed accurate and how this impacts Islam as a whole.

If you look at the modus operandi of the Umayyads, from Damascus to Cordoba, they always built their great monuments on the site of a previous church. The dome of the rock is no different, it was built on the site of the St. Sophia church, which is why it’s inscriptions are opposed to Christ.

The Dome isn't really on the location of the Jewish temple, it's on the location of the hexagonal forecourt of Hadrian's Temple of Jupiter. The Al-Aqsa mosque is actually right where the main part of the Jupiter Temple was, which was rectangular, where the worship of Jupiter took place. The Jewish temple would have been just NE of the mosque, between it and the Dome. Muslims have essentially rebuilt the Temple of Jupiter, at least main parts of it. The forecourt wasn't of particular importance, but it did have a nice shape. You can see what it looked like by searching Temple of Jupiter, Baalbek in Google Earth, it has the same shape just oriented in a different direction.
Yes, I agree with you on the Temple location and yet I think Hadrian’s Temple to Jupiter May have been circular with the statue of Jupiter on the rock in the center because like the capital in Rome, the highest point would have the statue. A great paper was written on this by Thomas Lewin in 1873, he knew the English surveyors of the Temple Mount and wrote a paper and book on it that you can find online. He took seriously all the dimensions Josephus gave for the Temple and it showed that it was a perfect 600ft square platform on the southwest corner.

@@migueliteux5061 I found it in a google book called Archaeologia, Or, Miscellaneous Tracts Relating to Antiquity, Volume 41. It has a short section on that called The Mosque of Omar, by Thomas Lewin. You were right, after reading that I have no doubt that's what it was. The Dome of the Rock was actually built by Maximin Daza during his reign from 303 to 313 AD. It wasn't built by Muslims at all or even Christians. It was unused by anyone since Constantine took over and everybody became Christians. They didn't want to use it as a church because of its pagan origins. When the Muslims took it over it was apparently full of debris, an abandoned building.
The rock under the Dome was actually the pedestal for the statue of Jupiter. The chamber under it was basically the maintenance room for cleaning and maintaining the statue and alter above, the well was the water source for cleaning it and for ablutions, that's why there's a shaft to it for drawing water up.
Lewin had solved the mystery long ago but it was forgotten about apparently. It's funny that the Christians refused to use the building but the Muslims were happy to, having no idea what it even was. They think the pedestal for a huge Jupiter statue was something related to Allah, what a joke.
A site called Cry For Jerusalem has a pdf of it but it's the same as in the google book, which appears to have pages a couple pages skipped. You have to pay money to get the full thing I guess.
@@RolanRoyce yes, you’re right, in that paper he didn’t mention the Cristian use of the building. In the second paper Linked to he mentions the Byzantine pilgrims visited the site and believed it was Gabbatha, but he calls that a monkish superstition. I think that was a little Victorian bias on his part though, and maybe it really was rock of Gabbatha.

Christians think Jesus is supposed to return through it. Rather ironic huh? They're as clueless about what things on the temple mount really are as the Muslims.

He did. This video was made months and months ago. However, on the crucial point of the inscriptions, I respectively disagree with Thomas, he hasn't offered a single shred of proof of an early witness to these inscriptions. Everything else is beside the point.

@cd kablan Actually there is, but is a false equivalency. Mecca is a known place and easy to find. Moses is buried somewhere in Jordan and even if we found him, we wouldn't know how to identify him.

I see you follow the Kallam and Jonathan Brown. If you are Muslim, you are obligated to believe in Moses because your book claims the Torah is from allah. So do you need physical proof of Moses?
Mecca, on the other hand is a in a known location. It has been excavated for building, yet no archaeology supports the claims the Quran makes. There is no evidence Mecca is as old as the days of Abraham and we can't find the stones that pelted the people of the elephant.
On top of that, we can't find the wall of Dhul Qarnayn or the hordes of Yajuge and Majuge it protects us from.
Nothing in the Quran can be supported. If you can find anything that supports the things above I mention. I will say shahada.

Crusaders ruled in Jerusalem for under one century not two -it was only in Acre where they ruled for about two.And Europeans often collected objects like carpets, coins etc from the Islamic world without realizing what the inscriptions on them meant -for example in a church on an island near Venice there is a slab on it with Quranic quotations -they probably had no idea what they meant.Same may have applied to Dome of the Rock.

The Wailing wall is Not the Antonia Fort. The Antonia Fort was on one side of the Temple Mount. Read Josephus, and the archeological reports that explain the Temple Mount.

@@collybeverI think you have a mistake about who are Israelites and who are "jews" (not even mentioned in the torah, they are not mentioned until all the way 2 Kings 6!!!). How I earnestly wish that there is now an ORIGINAL ARAMAIC GOSPEL because I am dying inside to read it. I hope there is a translation in English. It's hard to read it in its original form in Aramaic. I don't know that language. I think Aramaic is much harder to read than Arabic. I believe that this Gospel is a book of spiritual guidance from God. Unlike the 4 make-believe gospels, their contents are purely biographies of Prophet jESUs (pbuh) but with a huge hole in the accounts of his life covering the primetime of his age.
From what museum or library can we find the original ARAMAIC GOSPEL? Is there any original manuscript for it?

Have you thought about "restorations" of the dome of the rock? I'm a Protestant Christian, but can you prove that what is underneath, is not the same, as what is showing now, on the dome of the rock? The sistine chappel, have gone thru "restoration", but there are so many pictures taken, before the restoration, that we can compare, and state, with a 99% probability, that it is the exact same, with a clean up, and a repainting of what was there, before (this is restoration). Now, IF they covered up the original, and wrote something else, then, there is a problem with this cover up. I'm not convinced (YET) of this little piece of observation.
