Ok, I have to make a comment, maybe two. First, have been listening to your readings for some time. They are wonderful! Hate watching horror, but live listening to it, and you fit the bill. Unfortunately, I always listen to your stuff at the very end of the day. Your audiocasts are great, but your voice puts me to sleep (That's not a bad thing by the way!). Second, and most important... My father was not the most intimate. We never had "guy" talks or went fishing or any of that stuff, but what we shared was Twighlight Zone. We ALWAYS watched it together in the early evening after he returned home from work. I will never forget how imaginative it was and how it held my attention while I felt a connection with a father who I generally felt distant from. So, besides putting me to sleep, your stories are so wonderful for me and remind me of the only connection I had with a dysfunctional father who I really did love and idealize. Thank you so much. Please, please keep bringing back those memories and presenting such amazing stories. Just want you to know you are appreciated.

Three reasons. First, zombie movies might not exist in that world, and most things die from being shot in the heart or enough bullet holes will put anything down.
Second, cops and all soldiers aside from snipers are taught to aim for center mass.
Third, these 'zombies' also died if their heart was destroyed. They're more like rage zombies than traditional zombies, since they require circulation to keep the virus flowing.

Shotguns do not fire "gauges", they use shells that are loaded with *shot* or *slugs*. The "gauge" of a shotgun (10ga, 12ga, 16ga, 20ga, .410) merely refers to the size/diameter of the bore and chamber. Shotgun shell ammunition also comes in different lengths, from 2" mini shells to large 3.5" 'magnum' loaded shells. Longer shells allow for hotter powder loads and the addition of more shot. Every model of shotgun will have a designated chamber limit that will dictate what size of shell it can cycle or be loaded with, typically either 3" or 3.5".
So yeah, definitely not firing "gauges" lol. The only other thing that comes out of the barrel beyond the shot or a slug is a little plastic sabot cup that is designed to improve the flight trajectory of a slug or achieve a tighter more accurate/consistent shot spread pattern and will fall away upon the projectile or shot clearing the muzzle.
I tell ya though, the overwhelming ignorance among horror/pasta writers regarding firearms has been a constant thorn in my side for as long as I've been reading and listening to such literature. It's one of those little things that's just jarring as heck to me and immediately jerks me out of my immersion into a narrative, thus kind of tarnishing the experience and negatively affecting the enjoyment of the story. I can look past and adapt to many things when it comes to suspending my disbelief and allowing my imagination to really run away with the construction of a believable yet fantastical world; however I'm also an avid outdoorsman and firearms owner/enthusiast. When I'm listening to a particularly well-written and engrossing narrative only to come across some wildly inaccurate information and/or a downright silly scenario regarding firearms, I can't help but roll my eyes and sigh in exacerbation. It *is* admittedly a bit inconsequential and pretty dumb to get so worked-up about in the grand scheme of things, however it's especially frustrating because it's otherwise so laughably simple to improve upon if not rectify entirely. Generally speaking it would only require some cursory online research in the form of a brief google search or two that would allow an author to learn some proper firearms terminology and/or technological concepts and such that could be included in their tale. The inclusion of details like these are some of those things that improve a narrative and raise a piece from 'pretty good' to 'truly great'... This isn't the first time I've bitched about this either lol. I just can't help myself sometimes 🤷.
I don't mean to be a nitpicky little pain in the ass, but seriously though c'mon now! I know that these horror authors are better than that and that they really *do* care about the quality of their work, the feelings of their fans, and the impact their work has on both the individual reader and community at large. I know they can and WANT to do better!

I like the story but from a realistic perspective, it makes no sense that the zombies weak point is the heart if they're zombies without a pulse.
It would make sense for it if they still had a pulse but since they're undead, not just infected, a shot to the heart shouldn't be able to kill them.

"The life is in the blood"
If the bloods not being pumped and circulated for too many minutes, the being is a corpse.
How can you kill a corpse?
It seems like beheading would ensure there's no restart.
If it's not kept very cold, the brains only good for around six minutes.
      The best fiction seems plausible.
Non-fiction is true nevertheless and more will want to argue.

    • @qinjikofoxx5580

If the infection is in the blood then is could be a situation of the virus restarting the heart to take over the body once the host has expired. If you remember Jack didn't stay down for long. In context of how thenstory is read it was barely a minute or two, maybe another minute if you count how long it might have happened in reality, so the brain wouldn't have been completely dead at that point.

This story has potential BUT, there are several problems with it.
The locations don't seem to pan out very well such as the city battle, which I didn't even know was a city till the van crashed into a wall.
It feels like the story had been written by different people as the terminology keeps switching. Such as the helicopter, they called it a helicopter at first, then plane, then copters...etc. Troopers rather then soldiers, then units.
They said automatic guns or what not on the helicopter instead of saying machine gun, which they had said earlier with the machine gun truck.
saying shoot them in the heart, yet they always keep aiming shooting biters in the head.
Then saying presumably 9mm rounds, were bouncing off the car tires like plastic..etc
