@@randomyoutuberobot3247 Neither. At least 'Man Made A Bar' is still increasing on country radio, so I get why that was allowed to stay, but the same can't be said for 'Thinkin Bout Me' (not to mention it's also Morgan Wallen's worst song to date).

I am so glad that y'all have noticed Thinkin' 'Bout Me bypassing the 52/25-rule and somehow staying on the charts. Seriously, country songs and ONLY country songs have had this loophole for years now. It's how She Likes It and Flower Shops made the 2022 Year-End despite peaking at SIXTY-THREE and SIXTY-FOUR respectively. Or how last year, Everything I Love by Morgan Wallen charted for 40+ weeks, even though most of those weeks were in the mid-70's range. I've heard that part of the reason for this might be because there's allegedly a glitch in Billboard's calculations that Amazon country playlist streams are considered as on-demand streams, which would inflate the assumed "popularity" of any country song that gets streams there. Billboard needs to close that fucking loophole YESTERDAY. I don't care if it means less country songs might make the Year-End Hot 100, the fact that a single genre gets this type of leeway does not reflect well on Billboard.

Here is My Opinion on the week's new arrivals: WOTW: Dan Schneider's "Apology"- While Ari rules the charts, the creator of the show that brought her to stardom made a 19 minute rebuttal to the "Quiet On Set" documentary where he "apologized", honestly it was bad, just thank God he didn't do it with a ukulele, but really Screw Dan Schneider, Screw Brian Peck, I Stand With Drake Bell and Jennette Mccurdy and Alexa Nikolas. Even if it wasn’t one of my personal favourites from the album, ‘We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)’ is decent and it’s definitely grown on me a lot since its release! 😊 Well done to Ariana on her ninth #1 single! A massive upgrade compared to last week, that’s for sure.
We need to mention the rigging on the hot 100 with Thinkin about me and man made a bar by Morgan wallen both dropping to 26 and 51 despite both passing 52 and 20 weeks respectively? And how did the Saturn Returns interlude by Ariana Grande miss despite being eligible? This industry is over…
Am I the only one who's found Ariana Grande increasingly frustrating as a musical artist over the years? I listened to the full album after seeing that all songs but one charted against the odds (even in light of her tremendous fame and substantial fanbase), and I wasn't prepared to be so completely indifferent to it. No kidding that people overfocused on some salacious stuff in her personal life, as that TMZ bullshit is infinitely more interesting than anything in the music. There was a time when Ariana Grande actually evoked emotions in me - I remember really liking 7 Rings (seemingly the only person to do so) and hating Stuck With U -, but her more recent output is increasingly devoid of artistic merit, and Eternal Sunshine might as well be the culmination of her artistic drift towards the bland and thoroughly unremarkable; there's nothing worth caring about here, be it in the wholly unremarkable songwriting that really lacks the kind of detail required to be as much of a personal statement as it clearly wants to be, or in the production, 90 % of which is recycled to the point where I probably wouldn't be able to tell if you switched the instrumentals of two songs on the album, with the same stale synth work and percussion on almost every single track, or in the vocal melodies, which are forgettable to the point where there are like two or three songs from the whole album from which I recall a single lyric outside of the song title and one - that one being Yes, And? - that I can kind of hum the chorus to, and in the vocal layering, which is also recycled across tracks to the point where few tracks even remotely stand out from the rest. I guess Ordinary Things is the best song on the album kind of by default, as it at least has one interesting and kind of heart-warming element (or I Wish I Hated You, which at least has some okay lyricism that could've been taken into an interesting direction with some more narrative ambition), whereas Yes, And? and The Boy Is Mine tie for worst song on the album for that one respective infamous line, but even then, I would be hard-pressed to rate the former as more than a 6/10 and the latter two as less than a 4/10. The whole record is so average that it's frustrating ... my thoughts on almost every single song were “This isn't a pop song - this is elevator music disguising itself as one,” which really makes me miss the Ariana that, like her or not, made some of the most decade-defining pop music of the mid-to-late 2010s. Even if you didn't like 7 Rings or Stuck With U (and the latter is one of my least favorite hits of the decade so far, for the record), you could at least see what she was going for with those; you can absolutely see some kind of creative vision in them. A trap song interpolating The Sound of Music is certainly not something I would've expected to hear on the pop charts in 2019, and she certainly added to the cultural conversation with it. But Eternal Sunshine is so empty and hollow that it's a little infuriating, to the point where I would honestly rather listen to any other song to hit the Hot 100 in the past year, even some that are many times worse, than listen to a single song from this album again. I haven't listened to a record that showcases so little improvement over white noise in a long time. I don't even know what liking this album would say about someone, as I just see nothing to latch onto, and to me, giving it a listen just felt like wasting 35 minutes of my life that would've been better spent doing anything else.
@@minarisbutera I'm glad that the album was able to click with you to this extent - it just didn't with me, and I explained why in the original comment. However, I am a little bothered by your insinuation that my opinion could only come of a personal vendetta against Ariana acted out publicly to boost my "flop faves" (and you don't even know who they are - for all you know, I could be a massive Swiftie, and my personal favorite artist would suddenly trump yours in album sales and lasting influence). Believe it or not, but I have better things to do than to attach my ego to the success of a singer whose music I happen to enjoy. I don't particularly care about Ariana's success or lack thereof outside of what it says about our culture, which is something I find interesting to consider. I don't harbor any ill will towards her or want her position in pop music to be supplanted by acts I prefer - I just don't care for her music at all. It's just that simple sometimes.

"Yes, And?" only lasted at #1 for a week. 2) Miley Cyrus' "Flowers" lasted for 55 weeks, easily surpassing her previous record of 32 weeks ("Wrecking Ball"). 3) Sam Hunt's still around? I don't see his song sticking around like Tyler Hubbard's latest song. Two of the last three songs that Tyler Hubbard released as singles stuck around long enough to make both the Canadian *and* Billboard Year-End Hot 100s!
Chart predictors have Beautiful Things and Lose Control in a race for no 1 next week, with WCBF having a significant enough fall to no 3. It might have a chance to climb back up in later weeks once radio kicks in, but i think it's going to have to compete with Beautiful Things for it's whole chart run, and Benson has the radio and long term streaming lead given how well it's doing globally (next week it overtakes Greedy for biggest global hit of 2024)

Song Recommendation: Star Lord vs. Captain Jack Sparrow-Freshy Kanal ft. Mike Choe and Freeced Let's get the obvious out of the way. Yes, I know it's not a real song. And I don't mean that in a hyperbole way to describe how terrible it is. I mean that because it's not a regular song. It's actually a meme. But hey, it's a quality meme. I said before I'm an average Epic Rap Battles of History enjoyer. And the fact they introduced me to Golden Hair by Ivan Campo made me like them even more. Even if they don't have souls according to the fact that they sponsored Raid: Shadow Legends. But I'm not as much of a fan of the "ERB at home" channels. Freshy Kanal is not only the exception, but they might be as good as the real ERB. They're best known for being the origin for that "Mr. Beast!" meme, but there's a good rabbit hole beyond that. Their beats are bangers, the people have good flow, the lines are fire, and the production of the videos themselves are high quality. Yeah, this was actually a channel recomendation in disguise. This battle in particular is damn good. I like the decision of making Jack Sparrow's second verse a sea shanty. There's a cute choice they made that a commenter pointed out that I'm not gonna give away. Overall, easily better than the new battle from the actual ERB. With the videos themselves, the one from the 200,000 subscribers channel looks so much better than the one from the 14,000,000 one. Needed more PE$O PETE though. I should add that if I ever make another song recomendation for this channel, it'll be with a match I requested.

Gurl..... the fact that Thinkin Bout Me somehow didnt go recurrent even despite the fact it fell below the Top 25 because of an ARIANA GRANDE ALBUM BOMB and has spent over 50+ WEEKS on the charts genuinely makes me want to pull my hair out.
I honestly never thought I would see a song cheat recurrency after 52 weeks. And apparently there was no radio gain either, which further shows that Billboard has no idea how to stay consistent with recurrent rules.
Glad to seee Eternal Sunshine make such a huge impact on thw charts this week after I was worried it would underperform a couple of weeks ago! It's not Ari's best album, but it's still really good!
As I promised last week, if Ariana made it to number 1 this week I would put out the top 10 best number 1 songs of the decade so far. All Too Well, Blinding Lights, Anti-Hero, We Don't Talk About Bruno, Hiss, and Rockstar all rank among my favorite hits of the decade so far.
So, did everyone hear Dylan Mulvaney's new song? I honestly first heard of it because conservatives were melting down over it, but once I checked it out, I came to the uncomfortable realization that the song just isn't very good. It's basically a recreation of Meghan Trainor's Dear Future Husband, and I mean, as Mark noted back in his Worst of 2015 video, which I was prompted to rewatch after listening to that Mulvaney song, this shtick of _I'm a woman and can use my traditional feminine role to get what I want. Here, I'll treat you to sex and kisses if you buy me stuff and orient your whole life around me._ could work if you played it with some level of wit or irony and offered some relevant commentary on the toxicity and underlying sociopathy of these kinds of attitudes, highlighting how they don't actually fulfill you. In the hands of someone like Marina, who can actually write about womanhood with the necessary edge and introspection, this could have been a really good song. But Dylan (just like Meghan) doesn't do this - she sings about flirting with men for drinks, spending money, and being a passive little doll without dropping even a hint of awareness of how asinine her attitude comes off. Days of Girlhood isn't worse than Dear Future Husband, as it at least doesn't have that embarrassing doo-wop sound and has one line about taking pills that reveals a seed of what could've been a critical perspective, but it's still godawful. Part of me did feel like this song was only going to play into transphobic rhetoric about Dylan's _womanface_ at first, but then I realized that there's no need to dignify bigoted viewpoints as stemming from marginalized groups not catering to the sensibilities of the majority - I'm not going to police a marginalized group from the outside and tell Dylan that this is the reason transphobia exists because, well, it demonstrably isn't, and I seriously have a difficult time regarding Dylan Mulvaney as helping or hindering trans acceptance in any way. Dylan is welcome to act like this, and she's not any less of a woman for doing so, but just like Meghan, Dylan isn't going to move anything with this kind of songwriting, and it is a serious disappointment that one of the most famous influencers in the country right now, someone who got famous specifically documenting her transition and her experiences navigating the world of gender and gender expression, seems to really have nothing insightful to say about gender. I will also say, though, that you don't get a right to complain about this song if you didn't also call out Dear Future Husband - and somehow, a lot of these hateful channels crying _womanface_ or _insulting caricature of womanhood_ don't seem to care much when a cis woman creates something that is just as bad if not worse. It feels to me (as an outsider) like the expectations placed on trans people are insanely draconian (and it would be lovely if some trans people who might be reading this could share their experiences in this regard and tell me if I'm missing the mark): if they don't behave in the way stereotypically expected of their gender, that is taken as proof that they aren't _really_ that gender, and if they behave in a highly stereotypical way, that is taken as them playing into an insulting caricature of their gender. Why is Dylan doing this immediately taken as a caricature of womanhood as a whole? Transphobic though the backlash may be, the song is still pretty terrible, although the proceedings are at least being donated to trans suicide prevention, so I can respect it more as a social endeavor than the decade-defining atrocity that is Dear Future Husband.
@@jeremyusreevu237I mean, it is pretty incredible just how snugly that song fits into the overall pop landscape, isn't it? And somehow, I see much less concern about that. Only Dylan seems to get accused of _mocking womanhood_ for this.

I absolutely will not 'stop talking' about UMG. It's the biggest story in music in 2024 impacting damn near the entire industry, including in the case of this week the rollout of A-list acts. If you care about the music, this sort of industry bullshit impacts the experience across the board, from the biggest names to the undercard acts to the swathe of label employees who have lost their budgets and jobs, to the consumers who can't use the audio in their tiktoks and wonder why their favs seem to lose traction. Those who want critics and journalists like myself to shut up because it compromises your closed listening experience because you don't want to think about where the art comes from... yeah, you're watching the wrong chart show, buddy.
@BillboardBREAKDOWN I just wonder if this whole thing will be resolved. I surely hope so, but I know TikTok is facing other issues that are really dumb at the moment

Here is My Opinion on the week's new arrivals:
WOTW: Dan Schneider's "Apology"- While Ari rules the charts, the creator of the show that brought her to stardom made a 19 minute rebuttal to the "Quiet On Set" documentary where he "apologized", honestly it was bad, just thank God he didn't do it with a ukulele, but really Screw Dan Schneider, Screw Brian Peck, I Stand With Drake Bell and Jennette Mccurdy and Alexa Nikolas. And as for Nickelodeon, the only good content is the Animation and NOTHING ELSE.
DM: Back Then Right Now- This Bro Country song sure does exist doesn't it?
HM: Outskirts- It's OK
BOTW1: Austin- oooo, this is not bad, I'll take it
BOTW2: All Ariana Grande Songs- This album grew a lot on me, I love it, best album bomb of the Year.

Even if it wasn’t one of my personal favourites from the album, ‘We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)’ is decent and it’s definitely grown on me a lot since its release! 😊
Well done to Ariana on her ninth #1 single!
I don't even know what liking this album would say about someone, as I just see nothing to latch onto, and to me, giving it a listen just felt like wasting 35 minutes of my life that would've been better spent doing anything else.
a whole essay? ain’t nobody reading that this album is iconic and outsold your flop faves.

1) I wonder how long "We Can't Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)" will last at #1.

Mike Choe and Freeced
Let's get the obvious out of the way.
This TikTok/label conversation is getting tired.

Honestly funny how your least favorites are the ones most sticking with the general public and even her peers, both of those in my top 5 too.
Well I, for one, can't wait to hear Teddy Swims' 14th version of Lose Control. I hope this one has a harmonica!
Tbh it’s too fraudulent for me. The way Lose Control and Beautiful Things are fluctuating massively on streaming just a couple days ago BT has just about 6M streams down from 7 million just about the day before and now it has 8M streams. They have both been dropping and rising randomly on the charts although there have been no major album bombs that have affected the top 10 with more than three entries at a time. It’s just too suspicious

4: Industry baby
5: Blinding lights
6: Bad habit
7: Anti-hero
8: Save your tears (remix)
9: Drivers license
10: We don’t talk about Bruno
11: Montero (call me by your name)
12: I remember everything
13: About damn time
14: Rapstar
15: Leave the door open
16: We can’t be friends (wait for your love)
17: Dynamite
18: AIWFCIY
19: Hiss
20: My universe
Edit: Life goes on and Cardigan literally change depending on the day for me.

All Too Well, Blinding Lights, Anti-Hero, We Don't Talk About Bruno, Hiss, and Rockstar all rank among my favorite hits of the decade so far.
This is a really good list of songs besides hiss
Fun fact : Nonna is the oldest artist to chart on the hot 100 with ordinary things
Yeah, the song is honestly pretty mid, and if anyone other than Dylan Mulvaney made it, nobody would be talking about it.
@@jeremyusreevu237I mean, it is pretty incredible just how snugly that song fits into the overall pop landscape, isn't it? And somehow, I see much less concern about that. Only Dylan seems to get accused of _mocking womanhood_ for this.

So, who is buying Lose Control? It’s not like Teddy Swims is BTS or Nicki Minaj who have a rabid audience and the fact it might go to 1 next week is insane.
apparently a lot of its sales got filtered this week
From what I heard, remixes.
Travis Kelce is behind him i guess
