The 87 GN & GNX, and 89 Firebird Indy Pace Car would like to schedule an appointment with you. They have a few concerns regarding your ridiculous claim. The ZR-1 Corvette is also a tad put off as well. I can think of lots of 90's cars that can't touch a stock 5.0 GT, let alone the cars I just mentioned, so your comment might be just a tad bit overstated.

The Spirit RT is misunderstood by a lot by people. Chrysler in the 80’s and early 90’s made a million turbo cars using the 2.2 and 2.5 engine. These were Omni’s, shadows, Lebarons, New Yorker’s, minivans, Spirit/Acclaim, etc.
The RT was a different animal as it wasn’t just the 2.2 turbo found in most of those vehicles, but a 16 valve Lotus head that produced 224 hp, which sounds not that impressive now, made the Spirit RT the fastest 4 door production car in the world. The same engine was used in the 92/93 Dodge Daytona Iroc RT. These vehicles are legitimately rare, with only a few thousand produced in total. Between myself and my nephew we’ve owned 8 Spirit RT’s and have rebuilt the engines etc. in fact, I have a video on my channel showing the build of an RT engine for those interested in the differences

I've had two so far. Pretty quick, very fun cars, but I wouldn't necessarily compare them to some of the cars in this list. Acceleration felt peppy but wasn't nuts as far as the numbers go. BUT... their handling/cornering ability was very impressive. They weren't made to be speed demons - they were made to carve up the twisties on winding roads, and be very fun doing it. There was never a lot of aftermarket support, and squeezing more power out of that little 2.5L V6 was difficult. Very little room under the hood for power adders, and even with a 3.0L swap the HP barely increased. Torque did improve a bit, though.

Got a nice hiddem gem for your next list that most don't know about. Rare 92-94 nissan maxima SE with the rare dohc VE30DE motor. Mated to 5spd limited slip diff, good for 145mph+.. had stronger top end than many of the newer maximas i raced including cars with much more hp. That motor was only ever used in the car for 2 years and was the prototype for the upcoming VQ engine but actually had valve timing much like the VG30DE in the Z car of that time. Was a direct competitor to the SHO of the time. They are very hard to find now especially with the 5spd manual.

@benjaminwild4002, et al, clearly you all have not heard of the Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser, the Chevrolet Chevelle Greenbrier, the Pontiac Tempest Safari (Wagon), the Buick Sport Wagon, the Buick Century Estate, the Chevrolet Malibu Estate, and the Pontiac Grand LeMans Safari from the 1960s and the 1970s. You also have not heard of the Chevrolet Brookwood, the Chevrolet Yeoman, the Chevrolet Nomad, and the Chevrolet Impala SS station wagon/estate car/shooting brake from the 1950s to the 1970s. Finally, you all have not heard of the Buick Estate, the Buick Roadmaster Estate, the Chevrolet Caprice Estate, or the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser that ALSO sold in the 1990s.
Yeah, all of those grocery getter/soccer mom wagons had some low key high end options that they ALSO shared with some more famous muscle car siblings of theirs, you know, like the Chevrolet Chevelle SS, the Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, the Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS6, the Pontiac Tempest, the Pontiac T-37, the Pontiac GT-37, the Pontiac Wildcat, the Pontiac GTO, the Pontiac GTO "The Judge", the Buick GSX Stage 4, the Buick GSX Stage 3, the Buick GSX Stage 2, the Buick GSX Stage 1, the Oldsmobile 440, the Oldsmobile 4-4-2, the Oldsmobile Rallye 350. and a few others from the 1950s to the 1970s, and, in the vehicles that are from the 1990s, they also had essentially slightly less powerful versions of the 9C3 Police Interceptor packages, as well as what the 1994 to 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS had under the hood.
Now if you think that Chevrolet/GM was the only company that did that, then Ford and Chrysler was doing that as well, and I will cite examples of them as well. Ford had the Ford Ranch Wagon, the Ford Country Sedan, the Ford Country Squire, the Ford Courier (1952 to 1961 was the station wagon/estate car/shooting brake version of the vehicle), the Edsel Villager, the Mercury Commuter, and the Mercury Colony Park. You know that NASCAR spec Ford Galaxie? Yeah, in later versions of all of those station wagons/estate cars/shooting brakes, you could either retrofit, or outright order, that same performance package for those vehicles, or you could even do it yourself if you knew the right people, and/or knew how to do it yourself. However, before then, there were some pretty impressive V8 engines, as well as accompanying transmissions for those engine packages.
Now, as for Chrysler, you had the Dodge Polara that had two different station wagons/estate cars/shooting brakes that were either in four-door, or four-door hardtop versions, the Dodge Dart had the Dodge Dart Pioneer as its station wagon/estate car/shooting brake, there was also the DeSoto Firesweep 4 Door Explorer, the Chrysler Town and Country (the First, Second, and Third Generations of those vehicles were all station wagons/estate cars/shooting brakes), the Dodge Dart 440 Wagon, the Dodge Coronet 440 Station Wagon, the Dodge Coronet Crestwood Wagon, the Plymouth Fury Suburban Wagon/Custom Suburban Wagon/Sport Suburban Wagon, the Plymouth Belvedere 2-Door Wagon, and the Plymouth Belvedere 4-Door Wagon. AMC, unfortunately, had no strong station wagons/estate cars/shooting brakes. You want to say, "I just love super wagons, and Audi was the one who started that trend", right? No, you not only cannot say that, but you are also wrong in saying that, and every one of those station wagons/estate cars/shooting brakes that I had mentioned in my post ALL came out BEFORE your Audi RS2.

That Yamaha V8 in the SHO is a fantastic sounding engine and also an absolute tragedy. It never got the attention it deserved or the transmission it needed. It's a lightweight, small displacement, high revving V8 that was begging for a manual transmission and a turbo. I have to emphasize the way it sounds again. Go find videos of straight piped jellybean SHOs. Can't say it's quite as good as a Ferrari V8 but it's not far off. They had a fatal flaw with their camshafts but it's easily fixed and probably the reason they were just ignored. I wish they got more development and that they made way more of them because they beg to be swapped into NA Miatas or the current trend of taking FWD Hondas from the 90s and making them RWD. There's just not enough of them, there's no aftermarket support at all and while I'm sure someone has mated one to a manual it's probably a pain to do.
