Hey Dave, question for you. Does your Liberty HPA make a really loud pop when you power on the device with headphones plugged in? I just got one and mine does so I was hoping you could tell me if it was normal or not. I can power it on before connecting of course but my Questyle CMA Twelve doesn't do that. Thanks in advance and thanks for the review. It pushed me over the edge to buy one.

Once you hear this you understand what other THX amps like the Fiio K9 or the Monolith THX amps we’re trying to do, but failed at. Those were always a bit too clinical/unmusical when I owned them so I’d written off THX amps. This Mytek is entirely different.

The stage is accurate, precise and exacting. The depth and layering is excellent. The entire stage is played in and around you with accuracy of the placement of how my imagination says the recording was. Crazy good soundstage in my opinion.
I love both and highly recommend both. If you want a tad more warmth and smoothness I would go with the GS-X Mini. Personally for me the Mytek is the more neutral and accurate reproduction but the GS-X Mini isn't far behind.
This really has nothing to do with this specific amp, but it’s amusing to me how modern amps are being designed to push so much power while modern headphones are being designed to be more and more efficient.
There is more to an amp than just power though. Also, a lot of older gear is still used today by the audio community. A lot of planar headphones are more efficient than before but still require a lot of power. If the amp is built correctly with big power it will be controlled and able to work with any gear thrown its way; the Mytek HPA is just that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I'm not the most knowledgeable about amplifiers myself. There are subtle sonic differences in amp types, Class A, Class A/B etc. Also output impedance, amps, watts all can make difference in sonics. There is a lot to learn and explore. I just listen and learn as I go along. Sorry I'm not much help with all the technical stuff when it comes to amplifiers.
Is that not what I said in the video? I do believe that an amp reproduces depth and layering in addition to the DAC being used as the source. Transucers/drivers also add to the reproduction. All of the components have a part in the synergy of the reproduction of a track. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I haven't heard a pop no matter the scenario with my HPA. To me it sounds like you have a defective unit that needs warranty repair/replacement.

Hi honest audiophile. Do you leave your headphones plugged in while turning on this amp?
I do not power on/off gear when headphones or IEM are plugged and I always turn the volume down to lowest setting as well.

I was going to buy a GS-X MINI, but you told that Mytek Liberty THX AAA HPA was better option. Which one should I get? My headphone is HD800s btw.

I haven't heard the SPL Phonitor SE in about 3 years. I don't recall enough to give fair comparison.

iFi Zen DAC V2 or the JDS Labs Atom DAC+ and Amp+ stack, both are solid options. The Fiio K7 also is an option to consider as well.
