I was a virgin until age 22 and let me tell you, the amount of people who say it's a good thing don't know the struggle. From my experience, being known as a virgin for so long was met with so many years of pity, ridicule and shame *as a man.* Every time I wanted to go on a date, thought someone was interested and so on, the moment I mentioned I was a virgin, they look at me like "what the hell is wrong with you?" It's not impressive by any means. When I mentioned to one girl I was a virgin who was seriously interested in me, she got all weird and said she didn't want to have sex with me because (generic excuse about saving myself and how she didn't want to ruin me, etc.). I got told that kind of thing several times for years until I was 22 and lost my virginity to my girlfriend. Another thing about it is that when you finally lose your virginity, you *do* develop more confidence and some chemical in your brain clicks to make you more attractive in a sense. Again, when I was a virgin, I had so much self loathe and had 0 self esteem for myself. After having sex, it was like I saw myself as this better looking guy and so much of my anxiety and self loathing went away. It felt like a weight was lifted and I became the version of me that I saw myself becoming. Someone who was desirable for sex and attention and someone who had the confidence to boot. There's so much I can say but from a male's perspective, the longer you have your virginity as you grow, the more you're seen as unattractive and you develop some kind of self hate until the day you lose it.
