I must be blind, I see no "attack" and you and millions of others are encroaching on his territory, he's just taking a walk and probably just protecting his family, this is a good video and thanks for posting, you're so lucky, you got to see this in real life! He's a beauty!
He is huge, healthy and and well built. , Note he is not charging.. he is just walking his way.. because he surrounded. and till the point of walking away.. he is surrounded by many vehicles.. !! he is just curious as he walks.. out of all vehicles.
Not charging, but you forget how Hugh some of these are, very lucky for the tourists that it didn't charge, would have been some serious injuries, they are so strong and beautiful
This is sort of like how the mama mockingbird circles and confronts you when you're too near her nest......without the noise and dive bombs 🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘😁❤🐘
Most definitely not a charge... I was charged by an elephant in Botswana when I cycled past it on the road from Kazangula to Nata, theres a lot of noise and elephants run at incredible speed!
That elephant was definitely pissed off. The ear flapping and the continual advancing toward the bus is a clear warning to bugger off. The bus driver knows it, too.
If all the vehicles had just stayed still the elephant would have passed them by without incident. All of them reversing away like that was just complicating his exit from the waterhole and making him uneasy. The big bulls are normally real gentlemen its the cows with calves people need to steer clear of.
I think by the time the elephant saw the bus as a living thing, the best thing to do would be move away so at least it's clear you aren't trying to challenge the elephant. I don't know, just guessing...
I agree, there was NO threat display by the elephant at all, it was just ambling along amusing itself, probably wanted to sniff the bus and look into it, didnt see any problem, I would not have backed off.
The elephant is not attacking ,it's just curious it want to inspect the strange creature ( the green bus) and smell it.Before the elephant attack it warn, and it's not warning here.
based on? That's a big assumption to make! The bus is big & threatening to the elephant, what experience do you have to understand the elephant was "curious" as opposed to chasing the opposing large male elephant (bus) out of it's territory? I would trust the drivers experience over yours I'm afraid
@H P They flap their ears to cool themselves. They will hold their ears out to make themselves appear larger, but given the rest of the elephant's actions; no head lowering or trumpeting, it looked pretty relaxed.
Pfft . . that elephant wasn't charging that bus - he was trying to get through the traffic jam - I count at least 7 vehicles. Notice how he stops when they do? But it does look like he's learned he can make cars back up. He should call for the baboons - now they can inflict some serious damage ripping bits off your vehicle.
I've experienced elephants doing this sort of thing with a bus I was on in Kruger. There, the elephant was a lone, large bull. He causally walked at our bus head-on and then, at the last instant, slowly 'charged' the bus with the ears out. When the ears are out, I have been told that it is a false charge (head lowered and ears back is presumably a for-real charge). The elephant seen in this clip, like the Kruger elephant, appears to be having fun intimidating folks. Bet he's done this before!
note Elephant walking down road. Path of least resistance. the elephants use the roads to cover distances between waterholes. If the vehicles stayed put the elephant bull would simply walk around them and carry on down the road.
Absolutely .. In the name of developing tourism, we are tresspassing into their territory and disturbing them .. They are happily coexisting with other animals .. Deers, wildasses
Maltebyte2 - My money would be on the Elephant turning the bus over on its side and wrecking it completely. Bus heavier, but centre of gravity makes the strength of the Bull, especially one as big as this fella, overwhelmingly in his favour. Folks should not feed these fellows - that's what he's looking for. No charge evident !
Would have loved to have seen this at normal speed but the uploader obviously posted it in ultra slow motion so we could see it better. I'd estimate in normal speed that elephant was probably running at that bus at approximately 30MPH.
What's amazing is the 90% of 4x4 drivers are useless driving forward and here they are drive into each other in reverse. Pitty the Bull was'nt in squash a 4x4 mood...:))
He wasn't in the mood for charging, not even a mock charge. He is quite calm. He definitely wasn't interested in turning the bus over on it's side. This, incidentally happened in the Kruger park in S. Africa about 50 years ago. An elephant bull turned over a truck ( petrol tanker) onto it's side. From RSA

The elephant"s confidence and power 😍
Luckily for everyone that Elephant was relaxed and just showing the people who actually OWNS the road! 😂 Awesome :)
13 years later I’m still waiting to see the elephant charge your bus. 😳. I do love that he’s bigger than the bus. He’s huge!!
Saw one today in the Etosha park that is potentially bigger than this one

So huge and taller than the bus! What a fabulous creature!

Lovely how he makes all the nice cars scatter!😁

No no no! Ellie was simply directing traffic. He could have "charged" a fine by tipping a vehicle over but he just ambled away :)
That was less of a charge and more of a "I wonder how far I can make them back up". She's fucking with them, LOL.
Looks like a male to me.
There's only disrespect towards the elephants. Unfortunately it happens everyday. What a sad scene.
I agree. It is disgusting
That elephant wasn't CHARGING the bus! He was moving closer so he could read the licence plate.
