      I like Calzaghe but that was a washed roy. Once roy came back down from heavyweight he was done. Back to back Ko losses. Three losses in a row, then went the distance with 2 guys he should've destroyed

    Nes is losing his mind. Ward was a relative nobody when that tournament started. Kessler, Froch and Abraham were the favorites to win. Ward is my favorite fighter of the most recent generation and the super six tournament is where we all learned how good he really was.

    The other goof is completely wrong about the perception of Ward going into the Super Six. That tournament was thought to be for Kessler or Abraham. Ward was an actual underdog according to bookies against Kessler.

      F Arthur Abraham. He lost me cash. Dude wouldn't punch!! He had crazy power. Ward was the pitter patter guy from what I remember. Ward got the respect afterwards because he beat the guys in different ways and then he became a pound for pound guy.

    Going into the Super 6 Ward was viewed as a “dark horse” at best. He definitely surprised a lot of people.

      Don't know about that bruh..he was on vacation when the call came for him as a replacement in the Super 6... basically collected all the belts from that tounment... Another Lacey maybe Taylor from that tounment especially after Pavlik and Froc both brutal stoppage..

      @@FreestyleTunx I do “know about that” Ward wasn’t even the American betting favorite Andre Direlle had better odds. Arthur Abraham and Kessler were the odds on favorites to win the whole thing.
      I watched every fight, scheduling change, and countdown episodes.

      @@FreestyleTunx Honeslty I wish we had a super 6 the past 2 years from 135lb division. Loma, tank, Rryan Garcia, Teo, Haney, Kambosos. Could have turned them all into household names with the right reality shows on ESPN and Fox.

    Paulie is forgetting that Calzaghe took his super middleweight title from Chris Eubank who had 21 title defenses at the time. The super middle weight division was in England not in America. Chris Eubank beat Nigel Benn. Nigel Benn then went to America and beat some of the top American super middles including Gerald McClellan who never recovered, Iran Barkley by TKO, and Doug DeWitt by TKO.

And Eubank did anything but dodge, he’s in top 5 British of all time, and he fought everyone in his era, he fought; Benn, Watson, Collins most of them in their backyards, and beat most of them. Never even heard of this Williams chap your talking about. The Matchroom comment is irrelevant.

    I met Paulie a few times cool peoples, but he’s wrong and right about Calzaghe. His man is right too, I wish Calzaghe fought more and didn’t retire. But he beat the people he was supposed to beat, he beat Kessler before Ward, beat Lacy when Lacy was undefeated and knocking dudes out like Tyson then he beat Hopkins and Jones. Those are big wins, so I give Paulie a loss in a tight one

      Hopkins and Jones were pensioners when he fought them. The status of great fighters is determined by the quality of their opponents. Look at the upper echelon of fighters and look at the dudes they fought.

      I think a lot of the amateurs that come up with a lot of clout can sometimes be overrated and exposed early in their career. Just getting in the ring and making it to 12 round fights for for decade, even if you’re a gate keeper is respectable. I wouldn’t say Chris Arreola, Providnikov, or some of the of the guys that never won big fights are overrated.

    Paulie knows the stay unbeaten your whole career, even at European level is some achievement. Anybody can get clipped, go asleep for 3 rounds etc and lose a fight. Fact is, due to lack of power everyone thought they'd get in there and just walk Joe down. But let's be honest he literally slapped everyone's head off...

    Calzaghe beating Hopkins was a good win too because Hopkins fought for 8 more years after that fight and was still beating good fighters. That fight was 3 years before Hopkins became the lineal light heavyweight champion. It was a very close fight though.

      Always felt Hopkins won, there was a great breakdown of the fight in slow motion which showed Calzaghe landing on gloves alot more than it seemed on fight night too, was a great fight either way though! Great times!

    Paulie is trippin on Ward. The Super Six, Kovalev Ward fights & Chad Dawson wins should all have asterisk next to them. Jermain Taylor dropped out of the Super Six. Lucian Bute the IBF 168 champ didnt participate. The Dawson fight was at 168 even though he was the 175 lineal champ. 1st Kovalev fight was a robbery. 2nd fight was ruled a TKO after 20 low blows. Calzage had more wins, More KO's more title defenses & was a bigger draw than Ward.

And still 3 American judges gave Ward the fight. In the rematch didnt Kovalev complain about the low blows? Did the Ref give Kovalev a 10 count? Nope he stopped the fight.

      @@TheMartin9400 I’m not even a Calzaghe hater either but it’s easy to find things to criticize a boxer when you’re biased.
      Taylor and Bute not being in the Super Six is out of Ward’s control so why criticize him over that? And the Dawson fight criticism is understandable but I notice that boxing fans tend to be biased when it comes to boxers going up/down in weight. For example, Canelo fans criticize the Marquez/Floyd fight but say nothing about Khan/Canelo fight

    i did go back and rewatched senchenko fight with paulie ... and man paulie was right . that fight he was sooo on point in every move . he put a boxing lesson that night . he was in the best shape

    Floyd Mayweather Jr for sure. More businessman than fighter, knew when to take certain fights, drained his opponents with hydration clauses which Canelo now copies. Exposed as a drug cheat himself. Avoided fighters in their prime and loved to pick them when they were at the end or coming off wars.

      You can't deny Floyd abilities tho, true he picked who and when to fight but I wouldn't say Floyd is overrated because of his skills. He's in the top 20/15 at least of the last 50 years.
      Canelo only used rehydration clauses when he was moving up in weight for the first time, he used it with Kovalev when he went from middleweight straight to lightheavy, Rocky Fielding and I think Chavez. And a +10 pound rehydration isn't the worst thing, today's boxing is full of weight bullies it became normal. None of the 168 champions he beat had any clause so idk at what you should be mad at

    The Chad Dawson win was a very big win at the time, Dawson had just beaten Hopkins twice, was LHW champion and was undefeated! He also offered to move down and fight Ward at 168 (which was a mistake) the beating Ward gave him actually broke him as a fighter and he went downhill but at the time it was a huge win!

    I'm a big Paulie fan but he's so wrong putting andre ward above joe calzage that's insane to me kovalev he best wins carl froch and kovalev and he lost the first kovalev fight calzages resume is so much better andre ward overated all day

    Did I hear Pauli say Calzaghe fought Lazy , Veit and Pudwell in Wales? If so he is wrong. Lacy was manchester, Pudwell was Newcastle and Veit (2) was Germany.
    As for the proposed Froch fight....well...when Calzaghe fought Jones in his last fight , Froch was just the commonwealth champ....why would he fight him?????

    He's way off on Calzaghe here. He won EVERY fight in Wales, England, Germany, USA...everywhere. B-Hop wasn't done when he fought him and Kessler was undefeated. Yes, in Wales but Ward fought him in the US!!!! I don't get the logic. Ward even lost his first fight against Kovalev!! Admittedly he got incredible revenge in the rematch!

    The Lacey vs Calzaghe fight was a similar situation to Porter vs Brook, no one gave Brook a chance and Porter was seen as a Welterweight Mike Tyson before he fought Brook but Brook got the win.

    Love the fact that Paulie shows real respect for Collazo. Collazo is one of the more underrated fighters of the past 20 years. I was at the Hatton-Collazo fight, he beat Ricky. At some points he was beating him up, but that Mayweather fight had to be made.

    I like you Paulie but you should fact check before making statements, the lacy fight was not in Wales it was in Manchester, completely different country. Joe is an all time great, and trying to listen to you justify why Joe beating Kessler isn't important but Ward beating him is just makes you look like a hater

    Roy Jones for me is easily one of the greatest of all time, Calzache beat him in America. People say Roy was past his prime which is true, but so was Calzache as they were only about 2.5 years apart in age. There wasn't a massive age gap like people like to say there was.

      There wasn't a massive age gap, but Roy was already 23 fights into his fight career by the time Calzaghe turned pro, so had alot more miles on the clock. He was also about 10 years past his best at the time of the Calzaghe fight. Prime vs prime, Roy beats him with ease

    they were both over the hill. Calzaghe was 36 and Jones was 38 and you must remember Calzahge's hands were ruined. He had no sparring for the fight. That's how good Calzaghe was.

    Kessler was definitely the favorite in the super 6. Abraham was the 2nd because people acted like he was going to KO everyone. Ward wasn't even higher than Dirrell. People were just hoping the Americans would be competitive. That was the period where everyone thought Europeans were taking over boxing.

    Mike Tyson is the most overrated of all time. Period. And I’m saying this as someone who LOVES him, but I can’t deny that he doesn’t have a single win against the heavyweight greats of his era. His three best wins are, what? Holmes (who was like 38), Spinks (who was a glorified light heavyweight), and Berbick (who was just a mediocre champion at best)? Objectively, his career is a combination of dominating against relatively weaker competition and a whole lot of excuses about how good he COULD have been if Cus hasn’t died

Pauline could fight flat out and the guy that made me realize that was my guy the late great Nazeem Richardson. He said Paulie couldn't knock this glass of water with a running start. Pauline was offended then Nazeem explained he said "ya'll thank I was being funny but a guy that becomes two time world champion but has no power has got to be able to fight."     Calzaghe fought nobody. He could've fought Froch, Steve Collins, Dariusz Michalczewski, he could've fought Virgil Hill and came to America and fought earlier. He beat an OLD MAN Roy Jones and BHop. He could've came to America a few years earlier and fought Roy. He wanted no problems with great fighters.

    Buddy having Paulie get in a low stance makes noo sense.. Paulie had real quick feet a range changer his defense was great because of those feet.. like what he said being up against the ropes and in the corner there’s no where to run or move so you have to get low and shrink the targets to the opponent
