I think your on my property.lol I have 8 acres terrain is similar. Some big rock areas and they nasty ground cover.hoping to get our started this winter. Got your self. New sub. Keep up the great videos
Hi there! Nice video. I have been building some trails in south Brazil and got really intriged by your technique when you put leaves and old wet logs as base for your construction. Dont they get loose with time, rain and cyclists passing by them? Cheers!
Thank's for your comment ! i'm using this method since quite a long time and it works pretty well. I firstly put some wood to make a "bedrock". i use strong and dry old wood when it needs to be strong like for this bridge, but i prefere to use "rotten" wood for the jumps etc because you can pack it. after that i put some leaves and ivy like in the first corner in order to make a kind of net which will old the dirt afterwards. like this you can put some dirt on it, it doesn't fall and the amount of soil you're putting on will pack it anyways. It only works if you put enough dirt on it. Of course you cannot build things with leaves. I only use it as a net when i need to old the dirt (like for this bridge) :))
Thanks for the quick reply! Well, I will try this when the opportunity comes. Makes sense what you explain above so might be a good option for simple and not structural parts of the trail. Thanks a lot for the inputs! Cheers bro!
Always a pleasure to talk about mtb ! I learned and i'm learning how to build a trail on my own so it's just something i find usefull when you work in a steep part or to build dirt north shores. I'll be happy if it can help you some times. have fun on your bike dude !
nothing last forever. Especially here with the sand. that's my hometrail i can come work on whenever i want. And stones aren't that plenty. Big slab yes but nothing for bulding actually
I find it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission when building trails on other peoples land, most people will just say no but if you can be in their woods and they barely notice you there they normally don't mind. And don't let people use Strava or trailforks there if you can help it.
I love that you just play calm music instead of talking half of the video

You have rock available. Use it and it will last forever. That POS log ramp might last 3 years if you're lucky. And when it fails it will suck

Do you go there alot
I build trail too.. but i dont own forest.. is it ilegal?
no. but you can try to meet the owner and make a deal. but it's a bit risky cause he may ask you to stop
Drop / MTB Channel thank you very much (But nobody goes to this forest )
well, make "clean" builds and do not cut any tree and it will be fine
Drop / MTB Channel is this trail in the UK as if so where about , I'm guessing somewhere near wales

sick
What tools did you use to make the trail?
pickaxe, shovel, rake..
Is that thing you used to sharpen the sticks called a Bill Hook?
google translate says "sickle", "une serpe" in french
show yourself riding more!
