I'm not convinced that Russia's 1500 casualties per day is "unsustainable". With an admittedly larger Soviet Union, they were sustaining casualties of 10,000 per day in front of the Seelow Heights at the dying stages of WWII. And Russia effectively ignores the numbers simply urging their womenfolk to produce more babies for any future meat-grinder incursion they may initiate. What is unsustainable is the loss of heavy equipment as Russia does not have the manufacturing might of the USA and Canada (and to a smaller extent the UK) which supplied huge numbers of trucks and other equipment to the Soviet Union during WWII. Russian soldiers in Ukraine are moving to the front on EV scooters and golf buggies and on foot, logistics are relying on North Koreans carrying heavy back packs. But this does not mean Putin is going to give up or negotiate any time soon.
Good point about the equipment, but the casualty question should not be overlooked either, as history tells us. The russian casualties turned out to be unsustainable in both Afghanistan and WWI, leading to defeat, and on both occasions preceded a complete collapse of the state. The myth of endless russian manpower is a myth.
The only thing I'd say about comparing the USSR's willingness to sustain casualties in WW2 and Russia's willingness to sustain casualties in the Ukraine invasion is that the former truly was an existential struggle. The USSR had plenty of reason to fight and die. I doubt your average Russian sees Putin's war as existential, though.
Cannot argue with that analysis at all; this is not the same as the collapse of Communist rule in Europe. However we dare to dream, which is not what they are doing in Moscow, Pyongyang or Tehran tonight. They are too busy having nightmares of how it went for Ceausescu and Gadaffi in the end. No matter how many smiling posters you put up guys, so long as you are afraid of your own people, sleep will not come easily. Until the big sleep of course.

Foodstuffs up by 27%. Central Bank to probably increase interest rate this month (Dec). Potatoes, now imported as farm workers now in Ukraine, up by 73%.Butter, imported, also large increase (cows slaughtered for a similar reason). Rail transport of food from the ports in shambles, trains move at 50 km/hr, but overall average speed 5 km/hr.
Butter is being sold in security packs and has to be under lock and key. The only way to get access is to go to the cashiers who decide his much can be purchased only most super markets. Potatoes have increased in price by 74% since August. There's been lots of shop lifting due to people not having the ability to afford basic food stuff. Much of this has been reported in the Russian newspapers. Not quite the thriving economy that Putin tries to convince the outside World is happening under his leadership.
It's so strange to see smart analysts talking about Trump as if he legitimately cares about any of these policies or outcomes. I guess we'll see the degree to which he remains an active asset for Putin, maybe with reelection he's free and clear now, but even so, he only cares about his ego in the moment.
@WeejimmySnazberry Correct the ruble is no longer trading in the world, so in essence, except in Russia it's value is nothing? They can still barter, which is what the world did before money? The really great thing is Russian arms manufactures can no longer sell their weapons abroad, at least using money? Added to that they have no more tanks in reserve? Slowly drying up on everything in Russia? We may soon find out if Putin has any nuclear weapons that work? Just hope that if he gives the signal to launch the man on the button says "No", "You are no longer in command"?

The constant refrain of all wars eventually ending in negotiation doesn't reflect the outcome of the Second World War where both Germany and Japan unconditionally surrendered.
Discounting some obvious points such as economy, the nature of the situation and outside influences, it's interesting that in both Russia and Syria, the people at the top seem to be (heavy emphasis on seem because this isn't my area of expertise) demonstrating a profound inability to think clearly, at least militarily speaking.

If Ukraine should conceivably agree to a ceasefire with the present territory occupied to stay in place, or with an agreement for Kursk Ukraine-occupied territory to be exchanged for roughly the same area of Russian-occupied Ukrainian land, the big question is HOW would Ukraine's safety from new Russian attacks/sabotage be GUARANTEED?
Some of the aid money must be used for logistics. There are millions of dollars that could be dedicated to hiring private transportation companies to get the equipment, ammo, etc, etc, to Ukraine by land, sea, air, Whatever it takes. They will jump at the opportunity to make good money by providing the transport. It's obvious that what countries are doing now is not working. Let the private industries take over in order to get the stuff to Ukraine. Appoint a person or group who's only function is to find transportation companies who want to make some money and want to go to work right now and get this stuff coordinated!!! Time is short.
Ukraine unfree shall never be at peace 🇮🇪
Assad is gone.
😂😂 happens when you are governed by gangsters.. Free Russia
No
Tout a fait raison avec vous
guys dont mix it up: the war does not end because of negotiations, the negotiations start because the war is over. and the war is over when one side is clapping the floor or throwing the towel.
The theater play does not end because the curtain falls, but vice versa.
Do us the favour and apply so much common sense in the argumentation.
Yea, there are so many obstacles to a relaible peace agreement that I'm surprised so many believe this can actually work. Trump is a clown who think he's all gonna fix it cuz of his so powerful & influencing character LOl.. The only question is if Ukraine will remain with US aid coming yrs cuz that will be vital.
The conventional war can reach an end. I doubt unconventional war will do it...
The central bank inflation rate of 8% approx is understated.
It's so strange to see smart analysts talking about Trump as if he legitimately cares about any of these policies or outcomes. I guess we'll see the degree to which he remains an active asset for Putin, maybe with reelection he's free and clear now, but even so, he only cares about his ego in the moment.
The Ruble recently soared to 113 RUB to 1 USD (29 Nov). Today it is 101. Why the surge?
Sanctions against Gazprombank. The ruble is no longer trading, it would fall like a stone if it was. Can it's economy even survive the next 6 months?
@WeejimmySnazberry Correct the ruble is no longer trading in the world, so in essence, except in Russia it's value is nothing? They can still barter, which is what the world did before money? The really great thing is Russian arms manufactures can no longer sell their weapons abroad, at least using money? Added to that they have no more tanks in reserve? Slowly drying up on everything in Russia? We may soon find out if Putin has any nuclear weapons that work? Just hope that if he gives the signal to launch the man on the button says "No", "You are no longer in command"?
@WeejimmySnazberryBut then why did it go up to 113? It was lower than that a week or so ago.
@@carolhartley5982 The more rubles to the dollar means it is weaker.
There are people struggling with wor costs in the North East.
They'd struggle a lot more if Russia walked in and took over.
Given the speed of changing events this hasn’t aged well
Trying to get into Trump's mind is hopeless. Especially when you attribute strategic thoughts to him.
I know, right?
Even Trump doesn't know what's happening. Not in his head or in the Middle east.
😅
It’s an unpleasant route into where his brains are located too
I always see in Trump a used car salesman.
@@HarrySmith-hr2ivmeh, I'd say he's more of a snake oil salesman.
This guy assumes a lot if he thinks Trump would care what people think of him handing Putin a victory.🙃

Europe needs to pay their fair share which they have not up until this point.
Sorry my friend, presumably from a former British colony on the far side of the Atlantic, Denmark 🇩🇰 has paid 2 percent of our GDP for Ukraine 🇺🇦 and we are behind Estonia 🇪🇪 in support - by the way on top of this bilateral aid we also support through the European budget - our support far exceeds the US support
There has never been a obligatory 2% rule.
The 2% has always been a guidline.
@@jacafren5842this is what the people have been fed in the US, more importantly the source of the value of support for EU is $$$, whereas the US supplied it mainly in obsolete equipment, providing jobs to the production of modern equipment.
how many ukrainian refugees are in the USA and how many in the EU?

Could Lukaschenko in Belarus be next?
Too much of a toady.
There has been a report of Russian drones over BR, whether by deliberate aim or misaim was not specified. But it seems the Bearussians were apprehensive and there was some pushing for increased defence preparation. I'm sorry, I don't know what the source was. I have not yet worked out which are the tekisi sources apart from TR for news/views from this area.
Bless your heart, you have a lot of optimisim. trump does what is best for him, he could gaf about Ukraine or the UK or NATO and it allies.
There once was a man who lost everything because he got greedy.
Yes Joe biden
'Everything is proceeding as planned...'
What's the plan?
The plan was for the 3 first days, and now as it seems, the war in Ukraine was a huge mistake - Domino piece which started the loss of Russian economy and influence.
@@ThePorkchop1787 Panic, I am out of ideas.
@@iam5085it already only imagined it’s influence. This is reality catching up to Putin.🤣
It is a cliche that money is everything,

The commentator lost credibility when he said that he believes the trump will take Ukraine's side over Putin's side.
NOT GONNA HAPPEN!

you forgot the part about not paying your bills.

I am tired of this yearlong gibberish - WE did NOT GIVE the Ukkrainians what they needed !
Ukraine knows it is in a struggle for survival. No choice to succumb to weariness. Russian have a greater risk since its leader will not survive this bloodbath.
Who's contracting in rubles you can find out you don't need to guess.
Thank you. Zelensky has had enough success to stay firm. I would not let go of Crimea, Donbas or Luhansk. BTW: Both spaces have reverberations easily remedied.
Times Radio should take the lead on coordinating the development of quality sound requirements for all participants. Remember, there is an always a very simple, cheap solution.
The commentator said 114 ruble to the US dollar. It’s actually to the US cent! As in penny.
Are you sure as I just looked online and it was presented as Ruble against the Dollar?
It's 114 Rubles to the Dollar, meaning to 1 Ruble is currently worth 1 U.S. cent. It's the cheapest toilet paper on a planet.
Fix your audio. The drastic changes in volume should be dealt with before posting.
hmmm the war in syria ended without negotiations
The US didn’t lose the war in Vietnam, it was never a conquest, it was a matter of support, the US population lacked the will to fight an insurgency and eventually gave up, just like Afghanistan. If the people locally refuse to step up at some point (again not a conquest) the US gave up and went home.
Poor Diane Abbott, her beloved Putler AND Assad? Galloway and Milne can offer a shoulder each

Why would Russia dream of biting a chunk out of Estonia instead of out of Lithuania's Sowalki Gap territory?
Sorry, but your knowledge of the economics of Russia seems a bit behind the curve.
Because Putin's rhetoric has been specifically targeting Estonia - a very small and weak country which has seen at least one cross-border FSB raid already in recent history.
Now,where are the russian rebels ,what's taken them soo long????
I’m quite concerned for the security of the UK and Europe. What use is a vote if you can’t even protect your citizens against tyrants such as Putin. What is the point of democracy, because it seems to me that Putin is exploiting all the weaknesses of democracy. I really hope that Trump does the right thing and supports Ukraine, but if he doesn’t, I also hope Europe will develop more militarily and offer that security their democracies claim to be.
Percy, Please, Please, Please don't rely on djt to do anything decent. He'll do whatever gets him the best payoff.
We keep hearing Russian losses are not sustainable and yet every month they demonstrate that it IS sustainable by keeping on the offensive and not caring that they lose record amounts of men every month
The constant refrain of all wars eventually ending in negotiation doesn't reflect the outcome of the Second World War where both Germany and Japan unconditionally surrendered.

@@eleven9012 Now they lost Syria.
How do you know Russia is struggling
Where' are these North Korean troops, there are no confirmed sightings of them.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Stop presching about wars instead please preach peace. Salam.

It wouldn't be a bad thing if you could prove that Russia jus abandoned Syria so they can in turn blame Russia and act vengeance to them. if there are any troops left that is.
Hi Philip, thanks for your analysis, surely there has to be a limit as to how much we tolerate with the way Russia is behaving in other states and the globe, take for example The Sainsbury Poisoning's on NATO Soil etc. Putin has to be stopped in his tracks now with much heavier sanctions, as well as End User Certifications on all goods entering Russia, surely the UN can demand this once Russia has been expelled from the UN?
If Ukraine should conceivably agree to a ceasefire with the present territory occupied to stay in place, or with an agreement for Kursk Ukraine-occupied territory to be exchanged for roughly the same area of Russian-occupied Ukrainian land, the big question is HOW would Ukraine's safety from new Russian attacks/sabotage be GUARANTEED?
Zelen never said that.. he would give up land
Make it happen now! Glory to Ukraine!!!
Malgré Trump nous devrons accepter que l Ukraine n acceptera pas de ceder la Crimée et son territoire à la Russie. Espérons que l UE sera de taille à s opposer à ce que l Ukraine cesse son territoire à la Russie
No, Zelensky has NOT offered to surrender land to russia.
Wow, irrelevant worries considered already.
Not all wars end with negotiations.
WWII ended with unconditional surrender.
The Vietnam War ended with NVA tanks knocking down the gates of the presidential palace in Saigon.
The Korean War has not ended.
