    • @norman_5623

@@markpartin8403 Ralph Nader's book, Unsafe at Any Speed, tried to answer that question by giving all the arguments that the American automobile industry gave against seat belts and other safety features. One argument that industry executives gave repeatedly was that "Safety doesn't sell," but as Nader wrote, when Ford offered seat belts, they literally sold out and Ford had to ship cars without them. I saw a cartoon in which an engineer tells a factory manager, "I can reduce your energy consumption by 20%," and the manager says, "It's working right now, and if I started messing with it, it might not be." Executives were marketing cars on the basis of glamour, as if they were handbags, and they just thought that if they introduced a new factor, safety, it might upset their marketing strategies. Engineers had a kind of arrogance, that they knew best, they had already made up their minds that they had designed as much safety as appropriate, and suggesting otherwise would challenge their authority. There are probably psychologists who understand this better than I do. As Nader wrote, the experience in Sweden was different. Nils Bohlin, an engineer for Volvo, designed the modern three-point seat belt, and published a study in 1967 demonstrating that it prevented fatalities in every collision under 60mph. That ended the debate.

^^ I'm almost 82. I was 26 when Bobby Kennedy was assassinated . Some Precious part of me died the night Bobby was murdered. But that part of me has been resurrected with Bobby Kennedy Junior's candidacy for POTUS. When I first heard he was running, I had bought into the mainstream media portrayal of him as a conspiracy nut, but I felt I owed it to Bobby senior to at least give his son a listening to. After listening to many interviews ( on UA-cam and other social media platforms) I got a feel for his sincerity and Integrity. What's more, when I learned of his practicing a rigorously honest spiritual program, being an old friend of Bill's, well, that just put me over the moon! His emphasis on placing principles before personalities and not impugning the motives of others, but focusing only on policy differences keeps him out of the childish blame-game pettiness which has characterized politics for the last few presidential cycles.
For the last 25 years or so I've heard Republicans complain that liberals, like communists, want to redistribute the wealth from the Rich to the Poor. Well, I've been around a while and my experience over the last 50 years tells me that through corporate lobbying, payoffs, financing campaigns, etc., Corporate America has more than just captured the Agencies which are supposed to regulate it. It has captured the Whole political system, both Republicans and Democrats to essentially establish a Political Duopoly which has dismantled the union movement, decimated the middle class, and created the homeless class thru exorbitant rental rates, interest rates on homes and credit cards, school loans, etc; and stagnated wages over the last 45+ years. And so, the Rich, as plutocrats will, have been Redistributing the wealth from the Poor and Middle-class to the Rich! Bobby knows how to Stop this because he's been suing Corporate America and the government agencies that are captured by Corporate America for polluting and injuring people, winning billions of dollars in judgments for the last 40 years. Please, just listen to his full interviews on UA-cam! And IGNORE the mainstream media interviews which are almost always EDITED to take his comments out of context to skew his meaning or views.
When Bobby committed to this campaign to become president, he took a leap of faith. Let's all take a leap of faith with him because it's the right thing to do. Let's say goodbye and good riddance to the captured duopoly, thriving on us fighting one another, and take a leap of faith into a new consciousness of Hope and Healing and Caring for one another.
As for the amoral notion that unless you vote for the "Lesser of Two Evils", you're WASTING your vote, well, the only truely "Wasted" vote is a vote Against Conscience because it violates and deadens your moral Integrity.
Let's stop voting for the ones who Despise, and vote for the one who Inspires!

Ralph Nader's main agenda is his hatred of Israel. He knows that if the Dems win, Israel is DEAD. He hates Trump and RFK for one reason only. They both support Israel. Nader will do ANYTHING to destroy Israel and the only candidate that will cause that is Harris and the Democratic party. Nader doesn't want to draw ANY attention to RFK RFK Jr has my vote.

I think bottom line he thinks if he couldn’t do it then nobody can. Passing Mystic. He thinks that people never change and his experience will always be how it is. I don’t believe that though.

@@donyalucas2713 I agree. Nader's ego is boundless. That and his Trump derangement makes him betray his belief in breaking the duopoly. If he was genuine, he would at least stop pretending Kennedy doesn't exist. Very disappointing.

As a former Nader and Stein voter, I'm voting Kennedy even though I disagree with his views on Gaza. I believe it's worth gathering behind whatever third party candidate has a chance to break 5%. Plus Kennedy has some great policies that would help a lot of people.

@@benthomas4544 RFK has my vote. Which views on Gaza do you disagree with? He has the same exact views on Gaza as Nader always did. He, like Nader both want us out of Israel and let them fend for themselves. No more money to Israel. No more protection of Israel.. Pull out and let them fend for themselves. They have hated everyone not Jewish for six thousand years and have cause all the trouble on this planet.. I hope you're aware of Nader's and RFK's views on that evil empire.

No mention of RFK jr - unreal and I’m very disappointed in Nader. At his age, he should drop the ego and know what’s best for the polarization of Our Country and what’s best for bringing the people together, and not the corporations.
