All bow to the great and powerful Brinkbeats! Thank you for finally imparting us with the holy grail of looping knowledge! I had to watch it a few times, but I finally got it working. If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to help.
@Mike Mastronardi - Have you had any luck de-arming the track after you launch the audio or midi loop? I've got the plug-in working fine for both but I cannot, via the automation, get the track to de-arm on the active track. I tried to setting the off position in automation at the last beat before, on and slightly after the clip launches but it does seem to work. I've tried changing the automation activation order many times but no luck yet. Thanks.
I'm thoroughly impressed! I had no idea that you could do such things in Ableton. I swear ever time I get a new peace of gear Ableton can already do it.
A more in depth look at ways to use the max 4 live device would be super appreciated! So far I enjoy things about it very much but a few of its functions are not explained in the instructions that come with the download.

Still working this video. It's become such a reference to me for live performance. Wondering if it's possible for a single instrument to play multiple loops since each instrument has a single channel and a single sample...🤔
Very nice and helpful video. Gonna try some ideas and concepts. I wonder what's the utility of sending the fx tracks to the send B even where the output goes thru a external audio device?... Any ideas?
Could you guys at Ableton make FKJ do something similar to this? He uses a very similar system but he uses Push to achieve this, it would be awesome! Anyway thanks for this, it was amazing walkthrough.
Hey people, I've started using his plugin. It works fine, except from the Quantize function. The quantization automation doesn't seem to trigger quatization button in the plugin. All other automations I draw in work fine, except this one. Quantization only happens if I manually press the button. Can anybody help? Many thanks. And of course thanks again to Binkbeats for sharing it for free!
Hey I have the same problem . Is it possible to automate the quantization of the clip directly after the recording of the loop? For example I loop 16 beats and want to quantize it at the 17th beat automatically!! Can you help me? Thanks!
alguien sabe, cual es la manera correcta de programar o configurar el complemento de max que funciona para grabar los clips de audio ? o donde lo puedo descargar ?
I've been using this plugin frequently recently and I can't start my clip to play on the first beat of my scene. It always start on the on the next bar. In this video the Quantification Menu is set to 1Bar and his clip starts on the first beat of the bar. What am I doing wrong?
I’m assuming each of those preamps are connected via a pair of optical cables for ADAT. Most multichannel interfaces with larger channel counts have 1x1 ADAT i/o ports, but some have 3 or 4. I don’t know the name offhand but I seem to recall MOTU having a popular model that does this.
for midi, yes. i can record the first loop for a midi instrument fine, but then starting the second one does not work after deleting the first - record button doesn't engage. ? (i may have the automation out of order, but i've tried many different orders . . . )
@@Ableton although i'm still in the middle of putting this project together all seems to be working fine now - the order of the automation is indeed very important, but also i found that i have to first instantiate the Max device on each separate track or it doesn't work. i have M4L only and not the bought Max 8.0.3, though i guess i do have the trial version? i'm still not sure about how those differ - maybe you can clarify? (Live 10.0.6)
I'm having more of issue turning off the arm button. I found arming the track on separate dummy clip works better. However, once the clip is launched on the launch dummy clip I cannot seem to get the track to de-arm. What am I missing? I tried to set the automation point right at the final beat when the loop is launched in the launch dummy clip but the track remains armed. And would agree with Bink Beats, you need to be able to turn off the mics and inputs as you go. Input appreciated - and thanks to all the developers that created it. The recording/launch functions in both MIDI and Audio are working great so far.
Is there a way, without max live and his plugin, to have a clip play in one scene, stop in the next scene, and then start again in the next scene, like he does with the drums at 9:10? Or is that something that requires max?
everytime we record something on ableton, the levels of the recorded information is lower than what was/ is being heard? No matter what soundcard, level of unity (master volume) or even mixer, the recorded output is always lower than the monitored one ...
I was having trouble with this too, but I found out that it was happening because I was monitoring from both the audio interface ("raw" input) and from ableton, so the resulting output when playing was 3dB higher than clip output alone. Pay attention to using proper monitoring options for your tracks and see if you have a problem there ;)
@@LordRimoah hi Marco. Thanks for the reply. I use the core-audio direct monitoring. Using a RME fireface. Since ableton monitoring always has a lag. Once recorded I have to remove the Warp in order to hear the raw waveform.
Two quick thoughts on this: You can turn off the automatic Warp setting in Preferences. While you’re there, try setting your audio buffer down to 64 or 128 samples. It uses more system resources, but you should find that the delay when monitoring through Ableton will be reduced to a negligible amount, hopefully eliminating the need for your RME direct monitoring.
