I think my love for Omega is because of my childhood memory of the Apollo missions, which were definitely one reason for me ending up in the aerospace business. And so I felt like a child before Christmas when going to the Omega museum last year, where Wally Schirra‘s first Omega in space is displayed side-by-side with Gene Cernan‘s last Omega on the Moon. Recently I discovered Rolex, which also has a close relation to Apollo😊 Both make incredible watches!
That’s awesome! You know Mitchell's Rolex GMT was the first Rolex on the moon! It just sold at auction for 2.1 million, I made a video about it and was really surprised to see no one was interested. I think it’s awesome! Again, thank you so much for watching!
I’ve always liked the Omega brand but never really deep dived into the history and heritage of the brand. I’m sure I will at some point. Thanks for sharing and for bring selected as the winner. That’s awesome. Much appreciated. 🙏🏽👊🏽
I'm on my second Speedy Saphirre. My first one had the 1863 movement that couldn't be hacked which made setting the time an adventure. It also always crept up to edge of its accuracy specs . Earlier this year I sold it and got the latest generation Speedy with the newer 3861 Master Co-axial movement. At long last, a Speedy that hacks and has a movement that runs consistently at +1 second per day. For me, it's heaven but I have to admit that this new FOIS homage edition is pretty intriguing. At just under 40mm, which would probably be a bottom line size for many, if it actually wears smaller than that it might be a showstopper for some. It sure is pretty though.
1000% agree! I own several really nice watches but the Speedmaster is almost always on my wrist. I really like the new FOIS but do wish they would have at least made it 40mm. Though it doesn't matter much I guess because unless I find a way to get a lot richer than I currently am, I couldn't see owning both the FOIS and the Professional, they are just too close to each other to own both at that price.
@@BlueCollarLuxe I tend to wear my Speedy somewhat judiciously but I also have a 20 year old Omega Seamaster 2254 (last non-Coaxial model with the sword hands) that, to this day, never having been serviced, runs at around +3 seconds every two days. It gets a fair amount of wrist time and I have a Bulova 98B245 black chronograph with that company's excellent 262kz extremely accurate quartz movement that's my "banger".
This new Omega is so beautiful! It is my favorite Speedmaster from all the Speedmaster I've ever seen (because I have not worn any LOL). I wish I could buy this... hopefully sometime
The dial and bezel of the FOIS is exactly the same size as the Speedy Pro. What is different is the asymmetrical case of the Pro which is what makes it 2mm bigger.
I learned this from someone in the comments after making the video, makes me really want it now! Thank you so much for watching and looking out on the dial and bezel size. Wish I had realized it before putting that out there.

684. I actually picked up your channel from watching the Tudor BB41 video. Im considering that watch or a Speedy as a 50th birthday gift to myself. My Rolex GMT Master II needs a friend. I was going to buy a DJ41 but i'm too old to play those games. I also tried on the large Santos and that thing is sweeet!
I am with you, Rolex is the goal for me but I refuse to pay more for a pre-owned watch than it cost new. If ever they get it together and I can pick one up new I am going to get an Explorer 2. I think with all three of your choices you can't go wrong but since you already have the GMT Master II if you were to ask for my opinion I would say add a Chronograph to the mix and go with the Speedmaster. It is such a great watch and a true pleasure to wear. Thank you so much for supporting the channel!
No I don’t think it will look too small. It’s been pointed out to me that the face and dial are the same as the professional. It is just the lack of crown guards that make it smaller. If that’s the case I think it will be ok.
I must say that for the second iteration of FOIS Speedy is a touch down. Although I like the standard Speedy Professional Saphire Sandwich this new version is much more special IMHO. Keep up the good work, says the 706 😅
Thank you so much for the sub I really appreciate the support! Can’t argue with you on that, this thing is a very special watch. I would love to have one and chances are I may end up with one once they become available preowned.
I agree, thats a beauty, the small case size definitely makes it a no go though, I'm not sure why companies dont just make various case sizes in every watch
I’m learning from people in the comments that the bezel and dial are the same size as the professional. The watch is just missing the crown guards. I think this may be one of those must see in person watches. Thank you so much for watching!
I checked it out vs the one I bought recently. It’s pretty dope. I dial / bezel is the same size as the professional. The difference in the 42 vs 39.7 is actually the crown guards only isn’t it? Also the straight lugs are slightly longer lug to lug. When I put in the professional it wears smaller in my opinion!
@@BlueCollarLuxe the sapphire on the new FOIS is domed just like the hesalite so no milk ring and the dome shape. It also has the little omega sign on the crystal just like the hesalite version. It’s the best of both crystals in one!

The difference in case width between this and the Professional is simply the omission of the asymmetric guard that surrounds the crown and pushers. The bezel and dial is the same size on both watches. So if the 42mm Professional works for your wrist, then I don't see why this wouldn't.
I’m going to get down to Omega and try one on. You are the fourth person to bring this to my attention so I need to check it out for sure.
