Balance-wise, Germany gets everything up front and has to turn this early game advantage into a win as everyone else continues to get stronger if not dealt with; small tree makes sense in the light that you as the Germany player get a small kit to make this win state happen (go naval? fast Danzig? Yugoslavia? Unholy alliance?) Also, balance and the DLC dev-cycle favors minor nation changes, especially paths which allow for ahistorical play, over larger ones which effect the historical game. Maybe if OKW loyalty/attitude actually did something, and if you started to lose you would get an Italy-style branching behavior, but only for 1940 onwards instead of early game. This would preserve the early game, but lead to having more to do past 1941 in-game, and reflect the delicate/deteriorating inner party politics from Fall Blau onward.

One reason it was definitely overlooked was it had very bad bugs. Some focuses didn’t work at all. You also end up with no high command so no army xp until you leveled your field marshal and that takes forever. I played it and it was terrible. Also my personal problem is you couldn’t use Trotsky before. Only as an advisor. He wasn’t a general or anything else. But at least that was fixed now. It would be good if he could become the leader like in Mexico.

The focus is called “Squash Dissent”. It’s supposed to give a political advisor named Jonas Lie who gives +0.30 daily gain army xp and -10% training time. The problem still happens. This advisor never shows up. My guess is hes ment to be a Chief of Army but is labeled as political advisor So thats why the communist tree has no Army xp still months later. Still bugged.

If you read the event at 16:16 carefully, it says, the Soviets get a wargoal on Finland, however you are not Finland, you are technically Norway, therefore you can simply keep your state(s) without the Soviets getting a wargoal.

no better tanks are not "just good" they are much more expansive and the only thing they give is more reliability, you should really only ever build the basic tanks the other are not worth it in anyway

It a shame they won't go back and redo older focus tree they release since a lot of democratic and communist tree they created just simply worse than the generic one.
