    Brian Sonne--the man the myth the legend LOL. Tyler I've made latches like that but bent a handle out of 3/8 rod and welded the sides.

    Old farmer trick for busting concrete off of post is to place something hard like a strong piece of wood or steel plate under it. You are basically pounding it into the ground and the ground is absorbing a lot of the power.

    I love how the cows respond when you call them. It is adorable! They know that the grass is greener on the other side. I wish life could always be greener on the other side of the fence.

    What you just said about drilling straight through the steel is so true. I found out through mistakes even on other things that are hollow. Always better to measure and turn it over.
    The pastures, the cattle, the 'everything' looks perfect. Your up dating and running of the farm is excellent.

    I love all the time in the shop. Thx for showing the details of the gate. And I couldn’t be happier to see YOU happy with the results. Your cows may be able to figure out that latch, which is why you don’t have it on the pasture gates.

    In the FTR world there’s no such thing as “scrap”. But there is a lot of assets that haven’t been re-employed and deployed yet. Waiting with great anticipation to see how that broken up concrete will be re-used.

    I love watching you fabricobble stuff together. I do a lot of it as well, but we have totally different thought processes. I watch what you are doing and i have no idea what you are going with, then i see the end result, i go oh yeah, that will work just fine! Maybe even as good as what I thought you should be doing ;)

    Tyler just a hint. When I do metal hinges in between the two pieces, put a 1/4 inch thick poly or brass bushing. I have used both, and they work equally well. You will be amazed how well your gates swing. I buy mine from our ace hardware. Nice gate.

    Hey Tyler, nice design! Have you ever heard about the "Best Gate Latch" USA brand? That's also a great design, opens with a spring system (one hand), but yours is way more heavy duty build.

    Using white vinegar to break up concrete blocks gives good results. Just soak the concrete block in it.

    You need a small Mag drill. So much easier to operate and alignment is perfect as well.

    I've heard tell that a mag drill can hold a handheld drill in place for precise drilling through multiple layers. Apparently it's kinda like a portable drill press.
    Amazed at how good the calves look. It'll be interesting to hear how they fare at market time.

    I've seen my dad pop concrete off with a couple hits. But then he would use a masonry blade in his grinder to make a couple weak points, makes it easier.
