Embrace Your Inner Sexy

  • I've been afraid to embrace my own "sexy", whatever that means for me, my entire life. I'm generally a loud, goofy weirdo and I feel most comfortable being in this space. But I wanted to challenge myself, face some fears, and explore this very different, but equally valid side of myself, and I hope it challenges you to embrace your own version of sexy too! Super thanks to an amazingly sexy team for creating this with me. Check out their stuff below!
I think we are sexiest when we are in our element and doing what we are passionate about, for ourselves, rather than for the validation of others. Some people are sexiest when they are making music, running a marathon, teaching, writing, dancing, swimming, whatever it is that lights you up. Go do that, and embrace your own sexy. Share with me in the comments when you feel most sexy :)
    Love,
    Julie Zhan

I never thought that Julie had to try to be sexy. She just naturally IS.

I remember watching my first Julie video - the one where she talked like a chipmunk and I couldn't stop laughing for a whole half hour... You've come a long way Julie and I'm glad - because it shows maturity of you as a person and as an entertainer! Embrace it! And bring that Chris Dinh guy back if you get a chance, I miss seeing him! :D

    Dear Julie Zhan,
Here's an opinion of an ordinary guy from Europe: You are waaay more attractive and way more *yourself* as being cute than as being "sexy". "You are sexy" is IMO just a modern, socially accepted way of saying "people sexually objectify you as soon as they see you" and for the life of mine I don't see how can that be a complement to someone, yet somehow western culture completely embraces this phrase and this sex-obsessed mentality and hypersexualizes the youth with each generation more and more.
I liked your video "Girls With Standards" where you have practically parodied a huge number of today's young women and have depicted them so precisely (it's mind blowing that even though it's a comedy skit that is supposed to exaggerate things, IT'S NOT EXAGGERATED AT ALL, IT'S THE REALITY), so, in my opinion, you should stick to such a critical view of girls without standards/dignity, not start walking that "sexy" route which may seem unrelated and far away from "no standards", but in essence it slowly leads there.
The real confidence stems from "I am who I am and I will not buy into these popular crazes of today cause my dignity is more important to me than popularity/attention" certainly not from "well, all the girls around me are going this sexy route, and all the guys are attracted only to such girls, so I guess I have no choce but to go that route myself, even though it feels wrong, unnatural, extremely superficial and sexually objectifying".
*Now, don't get me wrong, nothing you did in this video was over the top at all. It's all totally ok, you are still an awesome actress, person with dignity and class and your channel is awesome, but I just wanted to let you know that, in my opinion, you don't need to develop a new trait that seems "awkward and unnatural" to you (as you've even stated yourself), to feel confident and complete, you just need to relax and be what you were so far - a classy, cute, bubbly, funny and positively loony person :)*
So my message to all the young girls would be: If you want to be sexy, be sexy with your partner privately, you don't need to flaunt your sexual attributes everywhere around, cause if you are single it will only show you as a desperate person and will compromise your dignity and if you are not single then...who do you flaunt your sexual attributes to???
The rule of the thumb IMO is - if you behave in a sexually seducive manner, you will attract mostly superficial thugs and if you behave in a dignified and classy way, you will attract mostly gentlemen, so it's up to you to choose. As simple as that.
I hope I haven't insulted anyone or have came across as overly critical. I just wanted to express my honest opinion and share an advice or two in case someone cares or needs one.

It's great that you're challenging yourself to find your inner sexy! I have a problem with that too lol but I just want to add that I think you definitely exude a bit of sexiness when you dance. I think when you can see the passion someone feels for what they're doing, it creates an air of sexiness^^

i know this is to embrace yourself, and explore new things about yourselff, but i honestly prefer the way you act/look normally. at least to me, when you're wearing make-up like that, it just seems "fake" to me. but either way, kudos to you girl for doing you. keep it up
