I am a historian a baby boomer born after WW2 I really developed my interest in history because of my dad also had this interest. At college this gave me the opportunity to develop my studies in European history. I really enjoy your programs. I often heard about those cemeteries in Munich. Keep up the good work. When I retired in 2015 I had planned to do my travels in Europe. Unfortunately, I had a major relapse with my MS. which has sidelined me
Traudl Junge (Hitler's secretary), Josef Kammhuber (Luftwaffer General), Kurt Huber (Nazi resistance hero), Wilhelm Von Leeb (Field Marshal and commander of Army Group North in operation Barbarossa), Otto Schury (General with Knights Cross) are also there...great roam around that cemetery LT, obviously the younger generation will know little about WW2.

I press like before I even watch your videos. They’re always class 👍 really interesting & I didn’t know Leni Riefenstahl was buried in Germany- interesting woman with a wild life! African photography, helicopter crash & underwater photographer - humans are complex beings for sure. Thank you 👍
What can I say, I really like your videos. I always end up in an in-between world that only takes place in my head. Very subtle and fascinating, so many stories that are intangible.
What a well made production, LT. a fascinating and yet disturbing place and the siren sounding, as you were presenting that Nazi grave, was like it was scripted 😯 Chilling, both literally and metaphorically. 💯
Great video. Loved seeing the graves of Emmy Goring and Leni Riefenstahl. And all the other Nazi graves. That was such a dark time. Would love to see more.
Need to visit in summer seems real cold! We have been lucky here in Canada been like fall early winter with just a trace of snow! I follow in my hobby plastic modelling some of the infamous germans! My father is Swiss german and mom is Canadian Ukrainian... thanks for sharing
Very interesting video, thank you very much. This cemetery is fascinating. Do not apologize for your English pronunciation, you do very well. My German pronunciation is definitely not good. I am honestly surprised, that some of these " Nazi " graves have not been desecrated. Thank you again, take care.
I’ve always felt graveyards are beautiful places so much love shown for each other, with so many well kept graves, it’s a beautiful cemetery, it seemed very eerily to keep hearing the sirens, it made the video feel real as well ❤x
Thank you so much, L T, for such a great video! The subject matter is so powerful. Your, "Don't let the cross fool you" on Wilhelm List's marker was good commentary. Made me wonder about the other souls represented on that stone. The entire video is so fascinating and I really appreciate the trouble you experienced - drudging through the snow, evading the cemetery personel. I sometimes think, "Oh This Guy!! Now what's he up to?!" Hehe
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it. There were many more graves i wanted to visit there but sadly I was running out of daylight. Have a good Christmas and New Year
There is Nordfriedhof too. The Bavarians are very religious Roman Catholics who have elaborate grave markers, I know this as my wife , a German teacher, has friends in Bavaria so we go there from time to time. Don't let her hear your pronunciation!! It is very easy actually. Interesting indeed..
Thank you for this program. Very interesting stones indeed. Question. On the broadcast it seems like the cemetery is kind of unorganized? Is this a typical European style? Thanks again for your work.
"Waldfriedhof“ means cemetery in the woods. That’s the whole point of the cemetery, that’s in a silent and calm forest. Therefore it looks "unorganized“.
HI. I watched the video again with the CCs. A sad and eerie atmosphere, which reminded me of the gate of Aw. I hope that every crumb of dust that fell to the ground in the past gave birth to a flower. Even the smallest flower, these ^inhumans^ do not deserve a small petal. With respect Monica❤ My translator is not perfect, I apologize
Fascinating video. If I'm not mistaken on the grave of Wilhelm List wasn't that a Polish name under his? If so how ironic that at the end he wound be buried with the very people he fought against.
All these names bring up incidents of triumph and tragedy, some unspeakable. My first love is history and it is unbelievable how even my generation couldn't tell you where Kharkov is or where treblinka is. This gentleman opens the door to the past, then full circle you look upon there resting place, it is quite sobering. It is history but also, to anyon who values freedom to wake up,vote and do your part!!!
That was a very interesting video. I can't understand how all those Nazis could live so long...101, 92...unbelievable and all the terror they inflicted on humanity. 😢

Traudl Junge is not buried there. She's in the Nordfriedhof.
Is Sophie Sholl and her brothers also buried there?
@TheConfederate1863 They are burried in Munich but at a different cemetery

He took his own life with cyanide while in prison awaiting execution. He was then cremated and ashes scattered.
