Just subscribed to a fellow Southeast Tennessean. We just moved to Tellico Plains from up north (for many reasons) but also planning on homesteading. Have over 3 acres and really enjoy seeing what grows and how to grow it in this environment. We have a large pasture with hay but also a lot of clay. Maybe one day we can meet up and exchange seeds or something. Good luck and God bless.
Yeah, we have a ton of clay here too- hence the raised beds. Since you're kind of in the area, you may be interested in a local group that has many homesteaders- mostly within an hour of Chattanooga but some people come from Atlanta, Nashville, etc. chattanoogavoluntarysociety.com/
This is exactly what I was looking for! Got nearly 3 acers last year and I am struggling to see what it should look like. I'm not ready for sheep LOL but everything else was really helpful. Now I must stalk your channel 😂 Thank you for putting this together.
Thank you. I'm not a big UA-camr by any means but I'm sure I'll get something else up at some point. We actually just sold our place and moved onto 30 acres and are currently setting that up. We have 6 acres or so that we're focusing on first and it's a big project but very cool.
Love what Youre doing Living the traditional American Dream! We are also in the 7b Zone but "spring" passes so fast here we have to adapt to it! Thanks for sharing my new freind Greetings from Paducah Kentucky USA! Hope to see your participation on the channel soon! Thanks Again! LOVE it!!💯👍✌✌🙏🙏
We actually moved and are now doing this all over again on a bigger property. It's on my list to do a tour of this one in the early stages but haven't gotten there yet. We have lots more pigs, Meishans, as well as chickens, guineas, and ducks. We are creating a silvopasture system, have a few ponds, a bigger orchard, a chinampa garden system, and lots of other really cool stuff. We're now trying to go from the more hobby homestead to a small farm.
@@ourfoundationspodcast5008 us too!!! Weird!!! How large? I’m looking into meishans. We did red wattle before never again. Where are yall by? (State etc)
@@DreamweaversHomestead We're actively using about 4 acres near Chattanooga, TN. We've had Meishans for a few years now. They are amazing, by far our favorite. They are the ideal homestead pig and can thrive on fairly low feed intake if they have enough forage. The catch is they take about a year or more to grow out so ideally we have piglets in September ish then overwinter them while they're small but fairly hardy, then grow them out til the next winter. The last batch we did were 16 months old and 304-357 pounds. They taste great too!
@@ourfoundationspodcast5008 that’s great! Looking forward to seeing the progress. We’re about 7hr west of you in Arkansas. We’ve got a lot of forest land to work.
We have done grapes and they would fruit once a year. Muscadines do very well too and we ended up having our grapes get taken over by the muscadine vine so I don't reccomend planting them near each other.
Oh Honey - what a beautiful homestead you have created! I can’t believe deer don’t invade EVERY night! Wishing you abundance!
7B N. CAROLINA watching 👀 😊👍🏻

Is this 2 acres or 20?!?
Do you grow grapes? And if so how often do they fruit
