I too was at this race. From memory the actual race was cut short as a result of the weather - heavy rain. The record books show the outright lap record was achieved in the race by Johan Rajamaki in the Footwork-Judd FA13 at 38.23 secs or 127.12mph. I recall in practice when the weather was dry that record was actually exceeded. As someone who first went to Mallory in the mid 1960's when Denny Hulme was the first to break the 100mph barrier in a Lola T70 Chevrolet these F1 speeds were sensational. Cannot imagine it would be allowed these days given safety considerations but boy did those cars come round quickly!
We need to see these cars actually racing again. Nothing against the Masters which holds the 3 litre class from 1966 to 1985, but I think we should get the 1.5 turbos of the 80s, the 3.5 and 3 litres up to the end of the 90s racing in a race category again. We don't see much of them in the Bossgp series either. Get footage from a great weekend. Cheers for sharing the great memories of real F1👍 😊
Thanks for uploading this video, that was epic! I was there that day and it brought back lots of memories. I think this was maybe the last time (more or less) contemporary F1 cars competed at Mallory. They look so much faster on such as small circuit.
I was just joking on another video about how stupid it would be to hold F1 at Mallory Mouse Park. I can't believe it actually happened, even if it was a BOSS race!
