A companion volume to My Name is Lucy Barton, Strout’s sixth novel unfolds in Lucy’s home town and brings to life some of the many characters Lucy and her mother talked about during Lucy’s recovery. The two Pretty Nicely Girls tell their own stories, one describing her materially rich, but emotionally compromising marriage, the other recounting how she discovered her mentor in a book. The high school janitor, Tommy, recalls a good deed that became a test of his faith. And Lucy, too, returning after seventeen years away, also has more to say. Strout, the author of Abide with Me, Amy and Isabelle, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning Olive Kitteridge, once again delivers a rich and nuanced portrait of family life.
Strout is inconversation with Lynn Neary, an NPR arts correspondent and frequent guest host often heard on Morning Edition and Weekend Edition.

Lo mejor que he Leído en mucho tiempo, Todo es posible- es no un libro , es una vida contada como sólo Elizabeth sabe hacerlo

    - "So you're not writing one story at a time?"
    - "No, um, there's always a point in time when one story or one book will call my attention - and then I will have to give my full attention to that - you know, as it's really presenting itself as a real thing. Then I will."
    Gibberish.

Wow, who got their buttons pushed. Hemingway and Henry Miller said exactly the same thing. You're in the present of greatness, find some humility.

How many books have you had published? How many copies have been sold? How many writing prizes have you won? I'm interested in your opinion if there's any reason to pay attention to what you say.

"Charlie.... was a reverberation of Lucy Barton's father." A "reverberation of" ? This isn't even English. How do people who speak like this call themselves authors?

Readers rewrite their own version of the printed word.
