"MTC definitely deserved a sequel, so I retold the story from the point of view of the anime girl in the computer. In the future, scholars will compare this to the likes of Shakespeare's 'Rome & Juliet'." Absolutely brilliant. The MTC saga truly is a masterpiece of our time.
15 years later..... Some of these songs hurt to listen to now. I mean you can talk about it all that you want but the early internet was an experience that will never happen again. So much creativity and genius sparked in that Firestorm of ideas that swept the world that living through it in that era....... Nothing can compare to that way that wave of inspiration until something like virtual reality becomes commonplace or something similar like it is just it was unbelievable to live through
I wouldn't call the 2000s early internet, more like the Golden age of internet. It was a true wild west. Great times. Kids these days will never know whats it like to have the freedom we had online.
It will happen again, just different. Our experience was seeing reality change with something completely new to our world, that will happen again, just not for us. With technology came the ability to create more efficiently, with the internet, we were able to create quickly and create whatever we wanted because nothing existed there yet. Everyone was on equal ground that nothing existed there yet, and everything was so unrefined. Pioneers of the craft, like S3RL, brought about the creativity that may have been seen before, but not known to the extension that we had back then. When true Virtual Reality comes to be, where we are able to dive into virtual reality with our whole bodies and minds, that will be that generation's Golden Age of the Internet. They will have power unknown to us and in a place where nothing exists. They will become the God of their own realities they make on their own and any number of things from then on. I see a world where there are micro-universes exist in everybody's pocket that they actively engage with that has the same sentience as you and I do in this moment. A micro-universe that will be able to do as we have done in our history, evolve adapt and create, even to the extent of being able to come out into reality and be their own sentient creature in our world. I am losing my mind at the moment, remembering all the things I once thought of as a kid when the internet became something I could interact with regularly with people I never met or saw. I apologize if any of this has become confusing or a mishmash of thoughts.
Crazy to think it's already been almost 5 years since this mix was released. Still hype as hell to listen to after all this time it's aged like fine wine.
