Wow does time fly. The Nintendo Switch in Unexpected Places Tour was amazing to be a part of. Being both a huge Nintendo fan and that of John Cena, this day was right up my alley. In addition to getting to catch up with Krysta, Demetrius, and other Nintendo peeps, I got to hang out and play Nintendo Switch before the system came out…with John Cena! The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and 1-2 Switch John signed my big WWF belt, my son’s WWE title, took pics with me, was extremely kind and receptive of my book, Lisek’s Great Adventure (in which he later came out with his own book, Elbow Grease), and I got to be in both commercials from the day. In today’s podcast, I’m present from the 20:47 - 20:52 mark (which is the content creator commercial). In the John Cena-centric one, you can only see my back, but I’m in the brown leather jacket, walking towards the Nintendo Switch house. An amazing day that I’ll never forget. Cemented in Nintendo history. Forever grateful. This podcast is off to a great start!
For what it's worth, Krysta, Pokemon is a long running franchise and nobody can expect you to be a fan forever. I've been a fan since day 1 and still am, but I've seen many of my friends drop off and that's OK. Also worth noting there are a large variety of games outside of the main ones, the show, the cards or just collecting merch. If you still have a love for it but don't care for the main games, I'm sure you can find something to enjoy. 👍🏾

The wrestling group had an agreement with the World Wildlife Foundation that they were allowed to use "WWF" if they promised not to use the same font, and everyone was going smoothly for about a decade. But then one day the Foundation stepped off an airplane and said "we're the WWF" and a crowd of people started laughing at them and said "where are the wrestlers?" and that's when they realized in the eyes of the people the letters "WWF" was associated with wrestling and not wild life. So they went to the wrestling group and said they can't use the letters WWF anymore. That's when the wrestling group started an ad campaign "Gets the F out" to refer to they were removing the F from their name and going with an E.
What a nice story of such a triumph for Krysta. I can just imagine the conversation between Cena and his representation: "John, Nintendo reached ou-" "YES.' "It's in a des-" "MAKE IT HAPPEN." "Oh... kay, anything else?" "Uh, tell them to make a new 2D Metroid!"
I'm sure your Patreon fam has already got you covered, but in case they haven't, here's a simple guide to Pokemon card rarities and the make up of a modern booster pack! Starting with the Scarlet & Violet set, a booster pack contains the following: - 4 Common rarity cards, denoted by a Circle. These are typically Basic Pokemon (the first in an evolution line) for evolution lines of two or more. - 3 Uncommon rarity cards, denoted by a Diamond. These typically include middle forms of Pokemon evolutionary lines but also the Trainer and Supporter cards denoting items, characters, and locations from the Pokemon world. - 1 Rare rarity card, at minimum, denoted by Stars. A Single Star Rare used to come in two main varieties but now there is only one: A Rare with Holofoil Art treatment. The Gyarados Kit pulled is an example of this; these have normal card treatment except for the art which has a shimmering layer of foil applied to it. In the past, there used to be Rares without the foil treatment on the art, these appeared just like the other lower rarity cards. - 2 Holofoil/Reverse cards. These cards any of the above rarities, however, these cards will be given a Holofoil treatment (often called a Reverse card by fans). This results in cards that fans will call Reverse Commons, Reverse Uncommons, and Reverse Rares. Reverse Rares with Holofoil Art exist, and they remove the foiling treatment from the art of the card. And technically there's a promo rarity as well, but I'd not say it's a separate thing. Since it has a black star with a banner saying "PROMO" in front of it. It probably counts as a subrarity of rare. They're also not in standard packs.

Picturing John Cena and his wrestling buddies huddled around a Switch trying to play Mario Kart with a single Joy-Con in the (probably) enormous hands is a humorous image.
On the topic of Splatoon 2 to 3, I totally understand from an outside perspective. On paper it would seem like the Mario Kart approach would work, but there would be some problems with that long-term. To help explain, an analogy: Let's say we're making a fort. Now we want to make the fort stronger. So we start to build around it. There really isn't much negative to build around the fort, and so long as we have the space the fort grows stronger. But now let's say we make a tower. Now we want to keep building up on the tower. But eventually, that tower starts to lose stability, and we have to take measures to fix the problems of that stability. Mario Kart is like the fort. The more you add to it, the better it becomes. There really isn't much negative to adding on to it. Splatoon on the other hand, like the tower, does have negatives when building on. The more you add, the more complex the online becomes, the more problems arise due to balance. If they kept adding on infinitely, the tower collapses. When a new Splatoon releases, it's a chance for that meta to reset, while also adding new content along with it. Edit: wording
Well the reason i actually played tears of the kingdom on yuzu is tbat i didnt want to play the thing at 24fps and at 720p So i got it legally and dumped it. And played it at 4k 60fps on my pc. Thats the only reason I use yuzu. So I did buy it as well, just to clear that up a physical copy.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is magical. People thought FFXVI had some spectacular moments - Rebirth takes it to a whole other level. Some scene later in the game are just mindblowing, some of the best moments I ever seen in a video game. I can’t wait for you both to continue the story and tell what you think of what happens next, you’re in for a treat!
Krysta, you'll be happy to learn that some businesses and home architects are using Smart Glass in their construction and the results can be very cool. Pretty expensive, though, so not likely to be widespread any time soon.

I emulated alot as a kid that didn't have much. Fast forward decades and I became a mega nintendo fan spending thousands on games and having a big collection. I'm pretty sure YUZU still generated fans and future sales...

It actually really surprises me that Nintendo wasn't aware of John Cena (or wrestlers in general) being into gaming. WWE has a channel (it's actually owned by Austin Watson - known on WWE as Xavier Woods) called Up Up Down Down, where wrestlers regularly play games when they aren't beating each other up in the ring. It's also a nice opportunity to see them out of their usual show shtick.

I played a lot of Arms that first year on Switch. The one time I used tabletop mode, my brother and I played Arms in a shopping mall. He was using the pro controller and I used the joycons in motion control mode. People walking by were like, what in the world are you doing??
I remember watching a UA-camr who used to live in a glass house in Japan. It was neat to see the inside of the house and see it lived in. I can't imagine living in one though even with curtains for privacy I'd be too worried.
its really funny. i loved pokemon, and i played all games except the last ones since legends^^. However in 2023 i finished the complete pokedex in crstal 2 and finished pokemon stadium round 2 on my n64 cardrige after 20+ years 🙂and round 1 in pokemon stadium 2 ... i really love playing those games again. but i already had the problem when they released sun and moon , i used to prefer the virtual console versions of gold and silver that got released on 3ds back than

I don't think there's anything wrong with people pointing out why they are excited if Kit and Krysta are unaware. What's wrong with saying "hey, looks like you didn't notice but X + Y reasons are why I'M excited"? There will always of course be jerks who blow things out of proportion, but that's no different from anything they do.

My favorite part in Lumiose city of Pokemon X and Y is where you can get a job at the hotel. It has a bunch of fun minigames reminiscent of the ones in the older games and is a great way to get money quick in the game, which usually is a thing i hear people complain about the most in pokemon games. That my favorite Pokemon entry except i feel like my favorite is probably whichever one im playing at the time😅

I think Nintendo still has a surprise game for this year besides Metroid Prime 4, similar to what they had with Super Mario Bros. Wonder last year. I'm really into the remakes and remasters at the moment on Switch. I'm getting the STAR WARS: Dark Forces Remaster and look forward to playing that game, which I've never played before.

Pokemon extends to more than just the mainline games though. To outright say you aren't a fan anymore would imply you simply don't care for that universe. Which didn't seem to sound like the case as Krysta still said she still enjoyed other related media.
I've heard Nintendo was wrong about Zelda being downloaded before release. It was apparently available but on other emulator. UA-camrs said this so take this with a grain of salt.
According to court documents, Tropic Haze LLC (Yuzu Devs) had patches that allowed TOTK to be played with Yuzu behind a patreon paywall. Given how quickly they gave up the ghost, that seems to be the truth of the matter. Ryujinx played TOTK right away.
When did it become wrong to be a casual fan of a franchise? When did it become okay for fans to criticize others for not being hardcore passionate addicts of a franchise? Come on people…let’s all be happy and learn to get along. I am a Pokémon fan who played both X and Y back in the day, and I enjoyed both games, and I didn’t freak out over the new Legends announcement, and I’m still a Pokémon fan, and I didn’t freak out over the symbol at the end, and I still plan on enjoying the game, and the world keeps spinning and time keeps ticking. It's very interesting hearing that Kit stopped watching during the Attitude Era of wrestling considering it's regarded as the best moment in wrestling history to date.
@jellojiggler1693 I'd find that to be surprising considering culturally it was probably at the highest it'd had ever been in terms of it being popular or the "cool" thing to like wrestling at the time. To each their own and what they like about wrestling though.
@@CCoreXB Sword and Shield's story was eh but the second DLC was good. Sword and Shield is great for competitive. I enjoyed Scarlet and Violet. I'm not one of those people who listens to the internet to formulate their opinions. I played the game and had one crash. I had slowdowns in the DLC. People online are weird and act like if a game slows down, it's unplayable. I'm so tired of the silly, ignorant narrative. People exaggerate details or don't even try the game based on the opinions of others. Scarlet and Violet has one of the best Pokemon stories and the best Pokemon cast hands down. Arceus was also a great game.
I agree that emulators are primarily used for piracy. But a legal use case would be Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The game runs horribly on switch, but if you buy the game, legally rip your own cartridge and run it on the emulator, you can get much better performance of the game than the switch's hardware can provide.
Let's be serious here. People aren't actually doing that. Even if they are, majority of people aren't doing that. Also, doing this for an active system isn't cool.
To be fair Krysta, X and Y is the most forgettable gen lol can half of the fans name the Champion in that game? Can half of them even picture her? Did you forget it was a her? Lol Also play Pokemon Infinite Fusion. The hook is simple, Fuse any two pokemon you can think of and see the wonderful results that a ton of sprite artists have created. Most of the combinations have custom made sprites and it's amazing.

My favorite part in Lumiose city of Pokemon X and Y is where you can get a job at the hotel. It has a bunch of fun minigames reminiscent of the ones in the older games and is a great way to get money quick in the game, which usually is a thing i hear people complain about the most in pokemon games. That my favorite Pokemon entry except i feel like my favorite is probably whichever one im playing at the time😅

I think Nintendo still has a surprise game for this year besides Metroid Prime 4, similar to what they had with Super Mario Bros. Wonder last year. I'm really into the remakes and remasters at the moment on Switch. I'm getting the STAR WARS: Dark Forces Remaster and look forward to playing that game, which I've never played before.

Pokemon extends to more than just the mainline games though. To outright say you aren't a fan anymore would imply you simply don't care for that universe. Which didn't seem to sound like the case as Krysta still said she still enjoyed other related media.

I've heard Nintendo was wrong about Zelda being downloaded before release. It was apparently available but on other emulator. UA-camrs said this so take this with a grain of salt.
According to court documents, Tropic Haze LLC (Yuzu Devs) had patches that allowed TOTK to be played with Yuzu behind a patreon paywall. Given how quickly they gave up the ghost, that seems to be the truth of the matter. Ryujinx played TOTK right away.

I am a Pokémon fan who played both X and Y back in the day, and I enjoyed both games, and I didn’t freak out over the new Legends announcement, and I’m still a Pokémon fan, and I didn’t freak out over the symbol at the end, and I still plan on enjoying the game, and the world keeps spinning and time keeps ticking.

I enjoyed Scarlet and Violet. I'm not one of those people who listens to the internet to formulate their opinions. I played the game and had one crash. I had slowdowns in the DLC. People online are weird and act like if a game slows down, it's unplayable. I'm so tired of the silly, ignorant narrative. People exaggerate details or don't even try the game based on the opinions of others.
Scarlet and Violet has one of the best Pokemon stories and the best Pokemon cast hands down.
Arceus was also a great game.

Honestly, I lost a lot of respect for John Cena after he bent over for the Chinese dictatorship by publicly apologizing for calling Taiwan a country.
I agree that emulators are primarily used for piracy. But a legal use case would be Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The game runs horribly on switch, but if you buy the game, legally rip your own cartridge and run it on the emulator, you can get much better performance of the game than the switch's hardware can provide.
Let's be serious here. People aren't actually doing that. Even if they are, majority of people aren't doing that. Also, doing this for an active system isn't cool.

Also play Pokemon Infinite Fusion. The hook is simple, Fuse any two pokemon you can think of and see the wonderful results that a ton of sprite artists have created. Most of the combinations have custom made sprites and it's amazing.
