Amazing talk, thank you! I'm 32 years old and just got thrown into a management position. Of all things the situation has quickly made me realize I have to actively try to stop being anti-social and be super effectually social. Now all of a sudden I know my neighbors and make life-changing connections with random people. Iran has opposed Imperialism in the Middle East across the board, not just in Palestine. They materially supported the Houthis in Yemen and the resistance to the US occupation of Iraq. Its probably not enough to make them a revolutionary vanguard (opposing US influence matches with a totally cynical/reactionary policy about as much as an anti-Imperialist one) but its more than "one issue".
Russia is also pushing back the Ukrainian neo-Nazis and the Banderites who are armed by NATO.
Elections in Ukraine should've happened in April 2024 but the country is doomed to permanent Martial Law and brutal austerity and privatisation enforced by the IMF.
Imperialism is a system, not one nations set of policies.
But also it symbolic gestures like condolences wouldn’t mean that much to be if they were the vanguard of the revolution. My point is what that government did it’s own left that aided them against the US in 1988 and many just pretend that it didn’t happen because only “westerners” have a problem with it says a Western to me, a Persian, and Kurd. I am oversimplifying here but Marxists who think about nation states in this way generally aren’t Marxists

They do this out of necessity, its not a path they've chosen. The US decided that it has too much influence or in potential to increase their influence and marked them an enemy state even tho they sold arms to it for most of the 80s.
