The BMP-1 is a favorite of mine. Love the low silhouette. The turret was advanced for it's day: with the excellent 73mm smoothbore 2A28 Grom that has ammunition commonality with the SPG-9. BMP-1 has a rather interesting autoloader as well. Back when the soldiers had the ability to shoot out of side firing ports, in this case with AKMS. Pretty cramped interior for tall people like me though.
It is just for show, it really just a waste of ammo, there is no way tho hit anything on the move, especially under stress, since there is no stabilization.

FIrst of all ,the argument of " you cant hit on the move" is complete bs, since WW2 shooting on the move was a thing that the British dominated, so much so that they kept using the 57mm and other low caiber cannons because it is easier to aim while on the move ( ironically, they were the first to put into production tanks with full stabilization ) and secondly, this is a Infantry Support Vehicle, which means it is supposed to help Infantry and supressing the enemy fire by shooting more bullets while advancing is a good strategy to keep the enemy under pressure ( specially because the BMP-1 was meant to deploy infantry deep into the battlefield )
Interesting. I´ve always wondered what those big hall was for, located on one of our training areas used by the GSSD troops. It looked like a maintenance hall, facing a shooting range. It was a " terrain simulator".
@@antanassmetona1144 if it was M2 Bradleys, FV Warriors, AMX-10s, Marders, or any other IFVs fighting in Afganistan, Chechnya and Sakartvel they would be destroyed just as easily if not even faster

Высшим классом было 3 мишени 5 патронами (1 одиночный допускается без снижения оценки). 69 проскуровский полк 4 МСР. Ребята стреляли, как боги. В том числе и мой наводчик - Миша Гузенко.

Very interesting! At 3:40 they are training to fire on the move by simulating the vehicle driving on rough terrain.

The BMP was perfect ambush vehicle , low height ideal for ambush
If I was given a choice to either crew BMP-1 or M113, I will choose BMP-1 in a heartbeat. It's a battlefield taxi that can bite back.
