They are currently using MYsql. Please advice on what will be the adjustments and the certificates that i needed since im just new to database. If I may add… What brought me to your page is SQL server developer installation while having SQL server express already installed… after installing the developer version.. i had difficulties in connecting to It What I finally did to connect to the developer version and not the express is : Server name/ browse / Engine data base/(choose the name of the instance I gave during sql developer installation)… I was able to connect to SQL developer and not SQL express already installed on my computer (which is the default instance ..the first installed)… We should take not of the instance name we give during installation it will later on help to connect to different versions of SQL server. Hi Ana. I would download SQL Server Developer (using the third option in the thumbnail), and then put it somewhere on your C drive. Phillip

I ran the Basic installation instead of the Custom installation. Followed along after fixing that.

Dear Fun - both will be fine. The Developer edition does have more features, so if you want to use R or Python in SQL Server, go for that. Phillip

I assume that you are using a 32-bit version of Windows. If that is the case, you will need to download SQL Server 2014.
