This is an unboxing of the Nikon Z6 III. What's in the box, what's not in the box? This time, something was left out of the box that the Z6 II and Z6 had, but the Z6 III does not. At the time of making this, I thought it wasn't that big of a deal that it was left out. It's not really, but it could be an extra expense for people who need this accessory. And keep in mind, the camera is $500 more then it's predecessor.

It’s not just a great option for people who stuck with Nikon, it’s a fantastic option full stop!!! In fact it completely blows the competition out of the water for video and is better in many regards for photo too. There is no reason to always relativize Nikon like that
The fact that manufactures don’t include chargers anymore is wild. Was that charger going to raise the price to the point no one would be able to afford the new camera?!
Agreed. Sony got me with this. It looks so stingy after you spend thousands on what's supposed to be a premium product.
Didn’t they do it for the same reason cell phone manufacturers don’t include them? It makes the box smaller and saves them a ton of money by being able to fit more boxes per pallet. Chargers are a cheap accessory if you need one which is why most manufacturers are opting to save the shipping and packaging costs. In the case of the iPhone it literally cut their shipping costs in half.
Newer cameras can charge a battery. Older cameras didn't and needed a battery charger. Its one less thing to loose or forget during a shoot
@@brianb4501 let’s say you are photographing a wedding and you have only two batteries. One dies in the morning and you’re left with a single battery for the rest of the day. What if I want to charge that dead battery while I use the other one? Now I can’t because I have to leave the camera plugged in charging the dead battery… this and so many other uses cases that would require me to leave one battery charging while I use another battery
economy of scale. save $1 per package isnt a lot. save $1 on every camera sold and thats at least $900 (in the case of the nikon). 10s and 10s of $1,000s for everyone else

Why! Who cares what any of these people have to say. Just watch the video, enjoy the entertainment for the 5 minute commercial it is and buy whatever works for you then keep it pushing
@@hkhanpour They are not breaking sales records. On any mirrorless market share statistics I've seen, Nikon's sales are going downhill and approach a 10% market share (despite the Z8 etcetera). 10% is the level which Pentax had in their DSLR heydays 😉
I'm guessing the main reasons are the lens eco system (choice and pricing), attitude against 3rd parties, and the impression that Nikon seems to become an old men's brand (just like Pentax did before in the DSLR days).
As soon as a brand becomes associated with old men, it is a like a curse, leading to further decline, just the same as with car brands (e.g. Mercury cars).

I like the letter from “Madeline Kay” and the Easter egg of them putting z (space) 9 in the subject, it shows they certainly pay attention to you.
They are just saving a few dollars by not including the battery charger....using a battery charger is just easier. This is sort of like a bag of chips getting smaller
The ZF also did not include a charger. Honestly, my MH-25a has been hiding in a box somewhere for years. I use a USB-C charger that can charge 2 EN-EL15s simultaneously.

I've been waiting to buy a new Nikon since I retired I cant wait to pick it up to see how it fits in the hand!
While I can't support the loss of the charger, I'm not angry. I'm much happier with the Jupio Charger I picked up for the EN-EL15's which lets me charge 3 at the same time uses USB-c and takes up the same relative space as a single EN-EL15 charger that Nikon produces (not a paid plant, though I'm willing to talk...)
This has gotta be great 🎉

Isn't that great ? However the man couldn't help it, he had to insert a negative " what's not in the box" in the title. He is hurting his own credibility as a product reviewer with his constant and persistant brand bashing. He has been doing that for many years, it seems to taper off a bit and become less virulent though. Perhaps he got some advice from marketing and combination experts ?

Well my refurbished Z6ii and Z7ii both in new condition, included chargers. Yes, the charger for those cameras will charge that (same) battery for the Z6iii. I have two of them so not a deal breaker. It's generally safer to charge the battery with an external charger since a lot of current has to flow through the mainboard to charge the battery, especially if the battery is heavily drained down to 1 or 2 bars. I want one of the I Shoot Z shirts!
Is the strap holder on the body in a good place when the screen is flipped out and in use?
This has to be the only channel that’s still doing the autofocus wars stuff like it’s 2018.
Not in the least. People want to see how they all work. People spend good money and want the best.
@@froknowsphoto They’re all really good. They all miss sometimes. I’ve shot all the brands. The other features and ecosystem are really what set them apart.
@@DieHardEddieEdwards I’ve seen some poor autofocus from Fujifilm, and the community is starting to talk about it more. But yes, no matter how good the AF system, a camera will still miss sometimes. However, for some photographers, like sports and wildlife, they want the best autofocus they can get.
@@justinburley8659 Sure, but that’s not what EVERY camera needs to be for. The Z6 III is a general use camera. Scrutinize the sports cameras like that, by all means.
The biggest difference between a Z6III, A7IV, and R6 III is not AF. I just don’t know why it’s such a big deal only on this channel.
@@DieHardEddieEdwards I literally just watched a few examples of the Z8 clearly and consistently outperforming the Sony A9III in a wildlife tracking scenario. One of quite a few lately. Half the time it's user error / settings, half the time Subject Detection is just having a bad moment (they aaaaaall do in different ways). IMO it's such a level playing field now with AF, certainly with the Z9/8/f/6III.
I think here it's become a running bit, mixed in with some of Jared's own experiences with how he uses each system. Hey maybe Canon does work better for him / his use case, that's ok too. And not being cynical, but if it generates comments and engagement of any kind, it'll continue.

Great uboxing of the Nikon Z6 III. I am a Canon hobby photographer myself. I have an R100.
On the charger - another money grab. Nikon (and others) figure you're going to want at least one extra battery so you might as well get a charger too. More profit...
The ZF also did not incude a charger in the box, I bought one on amazon that works just fine.
Still loving my Z8 (from Z6 II). Got tired of waiting for the III.
Regarding video specs: Does it do 10-bit h.265 at 4:2:0? The z6III doesn't have a manual published just yet it seems. A lot of cameras will do 4:2:2 in h.265, but most computers choke at 4:2:2 while most have 4:2:0 built-in. One of the things I love about the Sony's is they can do 10-bit 4:2:0 as an option.
Oh my GOD ! Even camera manufacturers now are no longer including chargers in the box? It's all Apple's fault. I knew, when I watched that keynote, that Samsung and other cell phone manufacturers wouldn't be far behind. But I didn't think actual CAMERA manufacturers would soon follow suit as well! I don't like that. Camera batteries aren't like cell phone batteries, and I wouldn't like needing to use my camera to charge each of my four Nikon batteries, this would be terribly time consuming. Come on, these products are expensive enough, what's the harm in including a battery charger? You're gonna tell me the boxes are smaller too, to cut on carbon footprint?
Here in India with the Z6iii, we get 2 batteries, a charger & either a Angelbird SE 512GB Cf card or a Angelbird SX 160 GB card for 2500$
With the Z8, we get a charger & either a 40mm f2 lens or 2 batteries for 3349$.
Wow! Nikon really stamped out a TON of these units! They are EVERYWHERE! There are Z6iii "review" videos on UA-cam from people who have never done videos before! (Great job, Nikon marketing department!)
They're learning from Sony that marketing is very important.

I give Jared credit for giving critical feedback to Nikon all these years, they seem to be listening and being the Nikon we all loved and remembered in the DSLR days in mirrorless since the introduction of the Z9 and now Z8 and finally Z6iii.
I don't think they need ranting and bashing to know the weaknesses and advantages of their camera's performances. Every manufacturer owns the products of others.
Gotta love these people who think highlighting issues is hating & bashing. In their opinion one must always gloat over their brand & not speak of any negatives
@@alwynsmit3546 From what I can see Nikon’s been chasing down every point Jared’s made of the years and here we are with a much much better Nikon Z system than we had at the start. And that Nikon is a Potato video seems to have touched them in all the places because look at what they tossed into this Z6iii lol.

The Shouting Hairball is doing one thing, and one thing only: eternally talking smack of Nikon, in order to gain clicks and with that earn money. The only one worse in this field is Mr. Sony Northrup. That's all OK of course, but it's also fair to recognise this.
In short, he is negative, utterly negative. That is not what you would call "critical feedback".

I just watched an unboxing to check, the A7iv at least comes with a basic wall plug for the USB C cable to charge the battery in the body. It looks like Nikon didn't even do that. Still seems like an awesome camera, but that small detail is a bit disappointing considering the price increase.
I never had a full frame. I want to buy one, what would you suggest for bird and wildlife a z6iii or a z8?
Definitely Z8. As it has 45 MP, you can crop in more.

Circa '91 I purchased a Nikon 35mm SLR and it included an introductory video. Of course there was no QR code or URL link, rather a VHS tape was in the box.

The Zf also shipped cable only, no charger, as did all of the DX cameras.

Sounds like nikon trying to be like apple/samsung and being cheap not throwing in separate chargers . Luckily i have multiple chargers from previous nikon cameras

Z30 was the first Nikon camera that didn't include a battery charger, just a usb c to a cable.
£2600 and no charger, if I want to charge multiple (which you'll need) I want/need a charger, cheapskates.......Looking forward to more video's on this device......
Buy the charger, use the existing charger you have, charge with the battery grip.
Check second hand market. People give those almost for free
@@FMJP think you're missing the point, they are charging £2600 for this device, they should include a separate charger. It's not a phone, the batteries are removable and sold separately for a reason.
@@d-zone I do understand the situation. Just jumping to solution instead of spending time complaining about something we can not change. I had the same with iPhone and other products. The truth is that I did get a self standing charger and USB-C charger with my Z7. I hardly use one or the other. I assume most new owners of the Z6III will be in similar situation as the camera is not targeted for first camera buyers. I have so many Nikon charges from 15 years ago for the same battery. The camera usually gets outdated but if the charge is still good you keep it or sell. So check out the used market to find what fits you best and dont try get hang up on this actually a smart decision by Nikon. Plenty of new/used out there for fraction of the cost of new one. Complain or buy one and move to the next issue.
@@FMJP iphone does not have a removable battery and if you want to charge 2/3/4 batteries then you need a charger and this isn't a £100 (or even £1000) camera. This isn't the same
Can't wait for your test on birds without a dedicated bird detection focus mode. I know they combined it with animals, but that could be a deal breaker.
Zf did not come with the battery charger either.

Nikon Zf in USA, no charger. In other parts of the world it came with a charger, SmallRig L-bracket, and a memory card 🤷🏻♂ Not the end of the world, but it's like a $30 charger that would avoid a LOT of complaints on social sites.
It is much less than USD 30.-, more like less than a buck from China. However how many chargers are already in most households nowadays ? I see it as an attempt to limit bleeding Mother Earth. Just saying... 😊

I went once in Costa Rica with my Z9 and left my camera to sync with my ipad. My camera ran out of battery completely. I did not bring the battery charger with me as I thought I could rely on in-camera charging. BUT! The battery would not charge in the camera at all with the battery completely depleted. Not a bit. I couldn't use the camera at all most of my holiday :(
Jared, this time review the Evf refresh rate, is it 60Mhz or could it go up to 120MHZ. No one talked about it In the many camera reviews I've watched.
It's 120 Hz, not 120 MHz.
One of Cannon's new flashes use a similar battery the camera does and it too does not come with the battery charger That's another $80 to $100 on top of the cost of that Canon flash.
When I bought my brand new Google pixel phone that did not come with a phone charger either not even the cable so I knew that when I ordered the phone so I ordered the cable and the phone charger at the same time luckily they were both delivered at the same time.
Nikon Zf also come without a charger and for me is easier to use the phone charger and not have to carry extra charger.
I would never use the USB C socket for regular charging as they wear out over time. The older larger USB sockets are far more reliable for regular use.
z30 doesnt come with charger too :(

I have a lot of 2 amp wall cubes that could be used for charging, but none of them are USB C. So that is an interesting choice in cable to include. I do have a lot of USB C to USB A cables however so I would have to use my own cable to charge the thing. I wonder how many are in the same boat?

@@selvamakephotography I have two Nikon chargers. For D750 and Z6. I never use them. The D750...well it has retired. And the z6 has a batterygrip with usb-c. For this I use a Samsung Fastcharger. Works fine. By this way, my Samsung S21 Ultra came without charger too. New standarts.;)

There would be value, for a large crowd I think, to see an AF comparison(in low light too please) between the Z6 iii and other brands(more than just one or two) of cameras in the SAME PRICE RANGE. A Mr. Undone style thorough analysis. Also in different " genres", not only favorite sports and kids running on the play ground. Please, please ?
would it be bad to ask fro to make the fro short. so people can see around him when he is shooting. so he not in the way no that rude just like tossing battery. also is making so you can charge battery in the camera.
I think that it is not a good idea to charge in the camera it mean you cant use the camera when the battery is charging or you must spend another money to buy the charger especially if you just moved to Nikon
Set the camera to charge whilst using, and use a small external PD battery pack. Nice and easy.
Jared- can you explain, on a technical level- why my Z6ii shoots better high ISO images than my Z8?
Because it has a 24 MP sensor and not a 48MP sensor, so that each individuel Pixel is bigger. If you oversample the Z8 image to 24MP it should also have better high iso performance
🙂Jared leaked the summary verdict of the upcoming brand comparison already in this unboxing video: The Z6 III is only interesting for existing Nikon users, esp. Nikon DSLR users (those "who are already in the eco system"). So, it he deems the Z6 III as being uninteresting for any other camp 😉
I did not get a charger with my Z9 only got the wall adapter witch plugged into the camera and not an credal to put the battery in time I got my hands on one for about £150 wow. Crazy price but before any one says yes I see on UA-cam some Z9s came with the full charger ummm was I ripped off

I have been saving for years for a new Nikon camera and when I heard about the Z6 iii, I knew this was the one. I currently have a 12 year old Nikon D 5100 or should I wait for the Z7 iii ?

They could have given us a sensor shield so we can "outperform" in all terrains...I hate not having a sensor shield in my z6 and Z6II.
I’ve been a photographer for 20 years. I have an entire wall of cameras. There is anyone can do as a normal photographer that that this camera cannot do. I get so tired of his photographers needing $9000 cameras.. to take the most mediocre pictures.

So, as someone who doesnt shoot or know much about video, may someone tell me what cameras in the Z6iii price range either match it or beat it for video?
No one beats it for video in the price range, unless you are talking about cine cameras in which case the fx30 is a slightly better design, but worse in rolling shutter and low light and only 4k
No other Camera in its Price range matches the video capabilities of the Z6iii. Aside from maybe the Panasonic GH7 which offers internal ProRes RAW but it is a Micro 4/3 sensor, not full frame.
For video at $2500 there closest competitors are going to be the r6mkii and the lumix s5ii and all of them are very close but I think that the Nikon and lumix pull ahead for video due to the file formats and high fps shooting modes but for photo it seems to be the best at the price range
Nothing comes close in terms of video with its features in this price range. A bonus that its also a great stills camera
