    It’s a shame that such an expensive car has so many faults.
    The XK8/R seem to be much better engines /cars.
    Looking forward to seeing more on XKR.
    Best of luck 🤞🏽

      Hi buddy, I agree. So much technology stops you from having a good old-fashioned tinker to sort out any problems.
      I am just waiting for my new shim and tappet to arrive from Jaguar as they were special order parts, then we can frack in with trying to get that running sweetly 👍

      Jaguar brand has bullshit quality and worst reliability. Vehicle Model does not make big difference.

    I have exactly the same problem with my XF, I replaced the intake manifolds and the battery went flat through non-use, I'm getting pretty much the same fault codes and I have the same code reader as you. I'm getting the same turns over but won't start, didn't have this problem before I carried out these repairs. I've tried replacing the battery but no joy. This must be a common XF fault.

      Hi Peter, Good to hear from you, buddy. Sorry you are having problems with your XF as well. This is the problem with modern day cars and their sensitive electronics it would seem. Mine is off to the garage at the end of the month, so I'm hoping that they are able to diagnose the problem and give me a route to its repair.
      I will be popping up a video on the results, so hopefully it will be of some use to you buddy 👍

    I’ve only just seen your video and as it was posted 9 months ago I assume it’s all sorted. However, if your battery went flat all sorts of electrical things need resetting including the immobiliser. I bought a cheap version of the jlr sdd software and the mongoose lead for about £70 and was able to fix all sorts of faults on my 2.2 xf 2015. I’ve also programmed a new key as the car only came with one when I bought it.
    Many people online tell you not to touch the cheap software but I’ve had no problems with it and it’s saved me loads of money in terms of not seeking the services of a dealership.

      Hi Mark, good to hear from you buddy.
      Amazingly, the jag is still sat on my driveway with the same issue! Mine started when it overheated and broke down and has not started since.
      I have had it running briefly on easy start down the air box, so it's pointing towards a fueling issue, either one of the pumps or similar.
      I've not got it sorted as yet as there is a whole back ground story on my jag with outstanding finance on it, and I don't want to spend any more on it until that matter is dealt with.
      One day I will get it sorted! 😃

    Hi, I have a 2013 model and since having a new battery fitted often have problems when the car won`t start. I open the boot and wiggle the battery terminal cable for a second and it gets the ignition going. Push button starts the car again and the only issue is that the clock has reset to 00.00. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks 🙂

      Hi James, good to hear from you, buddy. Diagnosing an electrical issue can be a bit of a pain. If it wasn't doing it before, then I would be checking the condition of the positive and negative battery leads to ensure they are properly secured.
      Also, did the garage reset the battery monitor system using the OBD2 port?
      If I recall correctly, there is the option to reset this using the Jaguar software. This makes sure all of the system monitors and sensors are calibrated to the new battery.
      I hope this helps, keep me posted 👍

    PATS is the passive anti-theft system, so with the other 3 or 4codes which are related I would say you have an immobilizer issue

    • @projectsinthebarn
      @projectsinthebarn  9 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for that, buddy. It's still sitting here and hasn't been looked at again since I did those series of videos. I'm hoping to get to it again when the finance issue has been sorted out on it 🙏

    try holding the key to the fog light switch or plug it into the key slot

    • @projectsinthebarn
      @projectsinthebarn  Рік тому

      Hi David, Thanks for getting in touch, buddy. I have inserted the key into the Dock, which seemed to do the trick. My low power car battery was at fault for a lot of those issues. The only fault I seem to be getting now is P062E, which is a fuel circuit issue on Bank 2.
      We're still trying to get it sorted, but we feel it needs to go to a specialist to plug it into their diagnostics 👍

    PS: personally I wouldn’t clear the codes, as even a good independent should have ability to decipher them.

    • @projectsinthebarn
      @projectsinthebarn  Рік тому

      I have recharged the battery and dine a hard reset, and have decided to clear the codes to give me a base starting point.
      When I try to start the car now it's the ECM and immobiliser that are the only recurring faults 😬

    When you tried starting the car at 10.46 , it definitely sounds like you have low compression on 1 cylinder my friend!
    it has that distinctive WER WER WER DUNK sound, rather than the WER WER WER WER (that's the best way I can describe it, sorry).

      Hi buddy, thanks for your message. That's one heck of an observation if you can tell that by my video clip, I guess we will find out soon enough all being well 👍

    I would clear all codes and disconnect the battery to do a full hard reset of the electronics.
    There are too many faults showing to be a standard failure, which suggests the modules need a hard reset (reboot).
    With the battery disconnected fully (that is important) and preferably battery out of the car, connecting the car battery cables together should discharge any residual in the car modules. Please verify what I am saying by checking the hard reset procedure. This is covered by John of "To the Garage" in one of his videos.
    This is basically discharging everything with the battery out of the car.
    Authorisation of the immobiliser is usually done by the signal handshake from the key fob. Has the key fob battery discharged ? Maybe it thinks you are trying to steal the car without keys?

    • @projectsinthebarn
      @projectsinthebarn  Рік тому +1

      Hi buddy, I agree with you, a good hard reset with the battery disconnected is a good shout, I have watched John's videos on this procedure and done it many times on my jags over the years 👍 it certainly won't do it any harm to give it a go.
      The battery in the key fob is only a .into old, so I know its good and is happily locking and unlocking all doors etc.

      Hi there, yes, there was plenty of diesel in it, buddy. Sadly, it never got fixed in the end and was towed away due to an ongoing finance issue 😞

      And I almost went to the shop for starter change but my neighbor recommended that if I charge my battery good charge for about 1 hour i going to be fine that's what I did and it did work I start the car and everything is fine now and since I've been using it I don't have any problem

      It's great to hear you have managed to fix your problem with a nice free fix by charging your battery.
      Cheers buddy, Simon 👍

    Defo try hard reset, agree with previous comment , too many codes are showing, good luck,

      Thumbs up for that then. I have popped the battery on charge again to remove that as a possible issue, then I will hard reset and clear the codes if any remain and give it another go 👍

    Well the problem is that you don’t have a factory jaguar diagnostic system as nobody have it. You have to go to the dealership on everyway. Nothing and nobody else can tell you except the service. I’m talking about my personal experience. On that way you just keep guessing what might be went wrong. Don’t rely on forums and other people who are keep coming up with different kind of suggestions because it’s never works. Take it to the dealership somehow and your problem will get solved. I know it is expensive but it just is what it is. You have a Jaguar and that’s the part of the ownership. Coventry was never the kind who given out technical informations easily therefore you will never find such a code reader what will tell you what is really happening. I know that because i went through all of that once.

      Hi buddy, it's off to the garage a week on Monday for that very reason. I'm just having a look to see if I can narrow anything down. The scanner is certainly a handy piece of kit, but nothing like dealer level equipment, but handy to have none the less 👍

    PPS: if battery is over 5 years old, worth replacing it.

  • @skinskog123
    @skinskog123 Рік тому +1

    Have you tried pushing the key into the back up slot (just below your right knee),
    and then try starting the car? Do not put your finger into the slot, as it will try to eat you alive (trust me, I have done it).

    • @projectsinthebarn
      @projectsinthebarn  Рік тому

      I have tried that, yes. I have had the battery off the car now and on charge all night to make sure that's in tip-top condition. I am going to do a hard reset, clear any remaining codes, and then try to start it again with the key in the slot and see what it throws up 👍

    PATS is passive anti theft system, refers to immobiliser, does seem to be the cause of the issues, but, like you, all those codes are way beyond me…

    • @projectsinthebarn
      @projectsinthebarn  Рік тому

      Thanks for that Andrew, I too believe this to be one of the causes, but who knows? It's off to the garage a week Monday so hoping to find out more then 🙏
