owen lewis The ones around my area are full of history. Pt. San Luis is the last surviving of it's kind, pt Sur is #4 on the top ten haunted lighthouses in america, etc.
Yep. You're correct. It was technically the first offshore lighthouse, but John Smeaton's tower, now located on plymouth hoe was the first successful tower. Winstanley's two lighthouses were hardly designed to withstand the elements.
No problem. Thanks for watching. This was the first Successful (wave-washed) lighthouse to be built in the middle of the sea. It was moved onto the land block by block when it closed.
Thanks for the reply, Yeah Henry's lighthouse was a bit weak :) Did survive a few years though! Am thinking of getting a tattoo inspired by his lighthouse. Hope to dive it some day All the best, Tobias Winstanley :)
As far as I know they still had to use square sheets. If you want to know more about living in lighthouses Peter Halil, an ex Trinity House lighthouse keeper filmed interviews with keepers in the years leading up to the last lighthouses being automated, and one of them talks about your exact question. He has been posting the videos on UA-cam recently.
I am direct relative of Henry Winstanley (great, great etc grandson) Am I right in thinking the winstanley lighthouse was the first ever offshore lighthouse?
Excellent vid. You never normally get to see inside a lighthouse, I think they're fascinating.
They're certainly very interesting buildings, with some great stories to tell!
Glad you liked the video. Thanks for the comment.

It's quite a long way down. Haha.
It would've been slightly taller before they moved it to the land, too!
Thanks for watching.
That's a pretty lighthouse,
Thank you....

Excellent!
Did they need curved sheets for the curved bunks?

yes
That there is some speed reading at the beginning!
Yeah, looking back I should've slowed that part of the video down. I may go back to re-film this video at some point.
First order Fresnel?
