I think the jump _is_ watching his bandmates die. What Singleplayernacho forgot to mention was that the lady that brought the Trickster into the band found him working at a Hibachi restaurant, which is where his knife skills come from. He was super popular at that restaurant, and grew to love people cheering for him and screaming his name. Combine that with hearing his bandmates scream out to him to save them unlocked that narcissistic side that he had to push down since he had to work with the band, then cranked it up to “I like how they sounded screaming for me as they died, let me do that myself.”
Thanks for letting us know about the Hibachi restaurant. That adds a lot more to his character with the knife skills for sure. Your theory for when the jump happens is very sound 😀
@@gageunruh3574 All children want attention. And if they don't get it, then there are consequences. He opened his soul in his music, he wanted to be heard and understood. But everyone didn't care. Of course, this offended him, upset and angered him. There is nothing surprising in his act with the hamster. People should be more attentive to each other. And to the children. Give them enough love and support, listen to them, understand their interests. The Trickster lacked this, he was on his own. He even decided to leave classical music for pop music only to be noticed. This is also a betrayal of oneself. He is a refined soul who subtly feels music and has his own unique view of the world. But he was not understood, he was alone. Everything he does is the result of how society treated him. It's like the Joker story in a way. The problem is that people do not want to understand the feelings of others. Someone suffers and is sad, and someone finds an outlet for these emotions in the form of cruelty. But the fact is that the Trickster does not do it out of hatred, he loves people. He just doesn't know how to express it properly. At some point it broke. I am sorry that he did not have a close friend in childhood, that he had no one to share his creativity and emotional experiences with. It's a pity that people are so obsessed with their own problems, and they don't care about others. I do not consider the Trickster a psychopath, I believe that he needs support and a lot of heart-to-heart conversations.
@@taniaangelsky195 you arnt seriously trying to justify the trickster...one of the most evil killers in the games lore. Literally all of the tricksters lore says he is just strait up evil and jealous with a god complex, no child should kill a pet just cause it temporarily got more attention then them so dont even try to excuse that cause the lore says he only did it cause of narcissism. He made music yes but the lore also says he liked killing MORE then the music he was making. Trickster is is one of the most evil people in the game besides the doctor and the clown.
@@taniaangelsky195 I think I understand your point, but I also think you over-victimized the trickster too much. Also, I think Ji-Woon is a psychopath, there is nothing wrong with admitting it lol that doesn't mean that trickster didn't feel misunderstood; his lore leaves a strong possibility that he felt misunderstood and "alone" because of his way of seeing things. For example, when executives reject his work, he makes the crazy decision to kill them to, in his words, make them understand the beauty of his art by making them a part of it. In his twisted mind, the executives were obviously the villains. And in a way they are: imagine allowing the manager of one of your idols to use the tragic death of 4 people with the sole objective of making more money, it is of dubious morality; and then wanting to take away a basic artist's right (to self-produce their songs) from the only remaining member, just because according to your expectations his songs were no longer selling as much as his first solo album (which is normal, there are artists who may have some ups and downs in their careers), it's a selfish decision considering that everyone thought that Trickster used his songs as a means of channeling his feelings of pain and other emotions. Of course, it was all Ji-Woon's "lie" (not totally, but yes), but I repeat; For everyone else it was like that, Ji-Woon was a poor victim, survivor of a tragedy and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, but Mightee One never hesitated to treat him as nothing more than a product for sale, without thinking for a second that their unjust decisions could affect Ji-Woon emotionally and psychologically, because they only cared about making more and more money at whatever expense: and in the end their decisions really did affect Ji-Woon, but not in the way that they would affect a normal person, let's be honest. The industry he was in during his youth and had always aspired to be in since he was a child (the kpop industry) was as shallow, competitive and selfish as he was, and that probably just made his condition worse over time, there are social environments that do not favor a condition that is mostly genetic and is closely related to brain structure, it's true. It's no coincidence that Ji-Woon felt no jealousy or disdain towards his bandmates at first, in fact he didn't seem to mind having to share fame with them, he was simply content with having achieved his lifelong goal. The bad thoughts appeared over time, he became more competitive and jealous because he understood that the industry was a competition: a competition for the love of the fans, to see who was more successful, handsome, talented, etc., and he needed that validation to feel good, and over time he needed more and more to be satisfied. Also, jealousy between bandmates is extremely common, there are many real-life cases about it, but Ji-Woon went to the point of not saving their lives when he could. Then again, that doesn't make Ji-Woon the absolute victim: he IS a psychopath/narcissist and a horrible person; A soft-hearted person would never torture people in terrible ways to the point of killing them and enjoy it more than anything in the world. I just hope people understand that Trickster isn't just evil and that's it, most of the things he does and decisions he makes are for a reason, it's just that his lore isn't that obvious and it doesn't tell you every detail to your face, you have to be observant and not so simplistic. And I also hope it's clear that he's not everyone's victim either lol.
I think you guys should definitely react to Yun-Jin’s lore next. Her and the trickster’s lore are tied together (she’s his producer) and it shows you her point of view and how she was suspicious of the trickster being a murderer and how she dealt with those suspicions
I felt genuinely uncomfortable with this story. Pretty sure everyone here has wanted to be famous and have their name screamed but it’s scary to think that fame did this to someone. Ik it’s just a story but there might be some obsessed people out there
There is also a second lore about him in the game itself where he plans to kill a guy on tour, but it also shows more of his personality. How he manipulates Yun-Jin (the survivor he came out with), stuff from his childhood, how music kind of affects his mood and calms him down or brings back memories... Trickster always liked being the center of attention, as a kid there was this kind of "show and tell thing" going on in class. He brought a flute and played it with passion but one of his classmates brough their hamster. Nobody paid attention to Trickster, only to the hamster, even the teacher. So when the hamster was being passed around and it landed in Trickster's hands, he squeezed it to death. All the kids screaming in horror and Trickster felt nothing.
The trickster is definitely one of the more psychotic killers, but on the opposite end of the spectrum I would recommend the plague, if you guys are interested in more! Great vid btw, always a treat to see y’all reacting to dbd :)
This is why I love the Trickster & think players were too harsh on him as a killer, mainly cuz he's a kpop star & "doesn't fit". I thought he was a creative & refreshing addition to Dead by Daylight. He doesn't seem menacing or look like he belongs there, but behind all that charm and sexyness is true horror. I'm a sucker for innocent looking things or people to have a dark side. His lore is actually really disturbing and I think people really overlook it. A beloved star that takes advantage of his fans and laughs at death. And the music he makes has masked tortured screams... He became a monster on his own, no traumatic childhood, he wasn't forced, for the most part. He is a monster without trying & I love that. So glad u checked out his lore! Looking forward to more dbd reactions!
Honestly i feel like this video left out a lot, it barely touched upon yun-jin (the survivor) and her story is extremely important in this case since it tells us about him from a different perspective, their backstories complement each other. Another thing is we actually got a tome for him (and her) so there is more to it but the video was made before that i guess
Think he has a video for the survivors as well, so maybe that’s why it was left out? They are one of the few survivor/killers that are connected right? 🤔

That was a great idea from you guys about why he would find screams beautiful. I think what nachos meant with his question was that most serial killers start with animal cruelty and build up towards murder but the trickster went from inaction and letting someone die to the most tortures and demented kinds of murder just like that it feels like there should be something more in the middle to drive him there. Like I said earlier even for the most notorious serial killers murder is to raw of an act so they start with animals
Glad you liked the idea from us 🙂 and true generally there is a progression. Many DBD players are K-pop fans, and there is no doubt that such a character was requested, whether they were going to be a killer or survivor. The fact that the writers used such a demand to craft what is probably their sickest killer story so far was the final ironic joke they played on their own players.

You guys should watch the full backstory lore of the doctor. It's by the same channel as this. It's slightly better than this one, since he talks about his childhood. The doctor is one my favorite dbd characters lol.
Trickster was oe of those that didnt interest me at all until i read his lore, i think his lore is one of the things that makes him a great addition to dbd.
Yup. He seems like a joke until you dig deeper. Looks can be deceiving 🙃
