I've grown to really appreciate stories where a kid hero is the main protagnist and it still has adults that go oh right we're adults let's try to make the kid's life easier. Bora only got 2 episodes but damn did he leave an impression on me.
This is still the best episode ending in dragon ball there's some other ones in the red ribbon and one in the piccolo arc but man everything is phenomenal the lines the voice acting the soundtrack RIP AKIRA TORIYAMA
The first encounter with Tao was the first time Goku ever experienced what if feels like to fear for your life. Nothing before this had been able to pose a serious threat to him. Tao is the reason for Goku's humble nature in all future battles
A shame the music ruins it. This is the first major death in the entire series, but the sound-track guy is playing funny buggers with a rubber band. The "bwoing bwoing bwoing" nonsense continues on and off all the way into Dragon Ball Z. It instantly destroys the tension whenever it happens because it sounds so absurd.
This was the first time Goku had to avenge someone so collecting the dragon balls meant so much more. Also he didn’t get to see Gohan pass away but seeing a father figure like Bora pass away hit him deep hence why he’s staring at the ball while Upa is crying. Goku was driven to get the dragon balls back and was real good character development. Hope to see Bora and Upa reconnect with Goku again in the future
