Why You Aren't a right AIC

  • You aren't a right AIC because your right diaphragm is bigger and stronger than your left diaphragm.
    This stronger right diaphragm can't be counter-balanced by the smaller left diaphragm, so we are slowly but surely "pulled" to the right into the left AIC pattern.

    Thank you Neal! you and Conor Harris have saved my life litterally. I couldnt fucking take it any longer, had this shit for 12 years and its been so damn hard on me, havent been able to sit, stand or walk. Tried to train/stretch/massage every body part for years and NO doctor/therapist/physio has been able to help. Gosh they were so god damn clueless, none of them were even close and they´re supposed to be the top guys in sweden....Every time i got results it just went back after a few days but now im close to being fully healed. You truly saved a life because i was becoming suicidal not being able to live my life, missed my entire 20s because of this, atleast now i have my 30s and they will be EPIC thanks to YOU

      Have you tried adduction drop test for left leg and abduction test for right leg? If can't adduct your left leg and abduct your right leg, that's a sign you have left AIC pattern. And if your torso is counter-rotared to left, it's a sign of right BC pattern.

    I am 100% right aic. I have watched all your videos trying to find an answer but they all end up saying the same thing.. if you can suggest anything that would be great. I have injured my right leg and had both hip surgery and foot surgery for broken metatarsal as well as right Achilles tendinitis. I have compensated toward the left and limped away my right leg for years after both back to back surgeries and now my whole right kinetic chain is shut down. My left side of pelvis is back and all your tests say I am definitely right aic. I know all your videos say I’m probably not but there is no doubt.. It’s really frustrating no one online seems to know what to do for right AIC except to tell you that you’re not. Any suggestions?

    Thank you, that was truly interesting! I have a question regarding what you explained - do we know how much the shape (and attachment+symmetry) of the diaphragm can vary between individuals?
    I'm asking because there seem to be all sorts of variations like muscle belly length, ulna-plus variant, and so on . But I have no idea if this could also be affected by individual variation.
    Thank you ahead of time!

    • @NealHallinan
      @NealHallinan  4 роки тому +2

      All of your observations may be true, but it still doesn't change the underlying pattern. Muscles get overactive/tight/strong/weak etc..in different planes of motion. So a left glute might be strong in external rotation but really weak in extension. Everything you said is perfectly explainable, but you always have to consider what is going on with the same muscle in three planes of motion. That's why people get confused.

My whole hilp is really facing to the left and to compensate my thighs working had to try to face to the right. I havd se sory space issues so it realy hard for me to understand mirroring images and realet tk the right side so for a long time i thought the right side was normally the side forward insthe left. This makes more sense along with another video you posted. I wasone person who thought I was maybe right AIC because my right illium is rotated anterior and the left is rotated posterior. My lumbar spine is rotated left and the sacrum is rotated left because of a LOR Sacral torsion. Both of these got me confused because it is opposite of PRI. But I still am in right stance all the time and push my left hip forward which matches the left AIC pattern. Can you do a video on a dysfunctional sacrum and L5 and how you can still be in a left AIC Patten with the opposite placements of the innomminates and sacrum?

    • @NealHallinan

      Tell you the truth, I'm not sure I can make a video on that because the left AIC pattern "describes" muscular activity that results in a left pelvis rotated forward and the sacrum oriented to the right. It is what my PT told me, but he is not aware of PRI and he tested me on a bench. I can feel that my pelvis is rotated to the right. @@paulgeorge9228 Yes I do! I've been in the search to figure this out for sooooo long now, because it's causing me so much frustration and pain if I am not extremely careful and all my exercising is troubled by it. For me, I've found that there is an imbalance between internal and external rotation in the hips - my right hip is tight in exteral rotation and the left is tight in internal rotation. Then there is the thorax, where my quadratus lumborum is tight on the left side, and my whole upper body is dragged to the left in rotation. I have stretched and trained, worked hard and also tryed to live with it and accept it, but I refuse to give up! AND!! Stretching have helped in the way that I know, that there is a freedom available because when I've stretched for long times and every day, I stand up and feel balanced. But that lasts everything from 3 minutes to half a day. NOW I have found someting called Somatic movement. This is a reset of the nervous signal to the muscles that are excessivly tight, to stop tighten up. I still have to do it regularly, but t lasts longer, and comes with way more feeling of freedom in my body!
      I recommend these videos, which have helped me A LOT! Most of the time, my pelvis is actually not twisted any longer. Then there is all the other imbalances to work with, like tight hamstrings, calves and shoulders and so on and it all takes time to retrain the patterns we've built up through our whole life, but I find that this REALLY helps me! I've started an online course to learn more at Somatic Movement Center my self, because this is so interesting and helpful. It's a journey, and no quick fix, but it's the best way for me to overcome all my imbalances. Somatic movement says, that it all starts in the center of the body. The last link is for a lady, who explains this pretty well, I've just linked to her channel where she has a lot of videos on the subject.

      You'll still be a left AIC. But ribs and QL can be tight/overactive on both sides. The basic pattern is left AIC/right BC, put further patterning can occur on top of that that confuses people.
