People really don’t understand this man’s talent. He is a phenomenal multi-instrumentalist and unique singer. Can make RnB ballads and hip hop bangers, so versatile man
He's a great artist, but he needs to make more solo work. His projects are packed with featurings and it mostly makes his projects chaotic and takes the focus away from Ty $ to the other, bigger, featured artists
The musicality of his runs is actually unreal, transitioning into notes outside the scale mid run is insanely difficult and he does it effortlessly. He's so vocally underrated it actually boggles my mind!! EDIT(for context): My guy absolutely bodies 12:24 to 13:30
@Slip Magoo My personal favourites were 4:30 to 4:45, 6:35 to 6:55 and 12:24 to 13:30 (I think he absolutely kills this section, runs and adlibs are FIREEE). You can tell by his background vocalist's reaction after some of these sections too, mans has his stank face on!! But yeah his background vocalists def killed as well.

@@Isignedup4this Well he is in my opinion and R.Kelly? I dont know about that thats basically the same comparison as I've just made. Ty's got a couple good tracks to date but im unsure if he'll really stand up to the timeless tracks like Nate Dogg and Warren G
@@AdamNZ you sound really ignorant. Read on his production and song writing stats. You could say Ty $ is the modern day Prince. Nate Dogg was a glorified chorist
It has a lot to do with replay value. Live recordings have a wow factor to them that hit harder when they’re rarer (this Tiny Desk). For a studio album that may/may not be played on the radio, used in media, etc, it generates way more replay value when it has a refined, consistent sound.
I soooo wish for that to happen more. and they could add in the 808s and take lots of time for mixing like they would if it was a normal record. but it would just have the amazing real live energy that performances like this have. for really great artists i feel like they never sound better than live
I think that's more likely to happen with artists who consider their live acts as their main outputs while treating studio recorded materials as "here's a preview of what you can expect on my live shows".
Wow I really wish I understood Ty Dolla Signs talent sooner!! Plus I love how he has the whole band together PLUS SKRILLEX. The way Skrillex used his CDJs and everything too was SO TIGHT
one day we are gonna have to have a conversation about how skrillex is one of the biggest innovators of music to ever live. helping birth dubstep then changed rap and r&b for so many artists careers. dude is a legend
Oh no no no he didn't invent dubstep - dubstep was originally a very different genre of british and caribbean origin, derived mostly from dub and 2-step garage (hence dub+step), but also grime, drum and bass, reggae and jungle. He just popularised the more agressive EDM-oriented style (sometimes called brostep to distinguish it from the original style) that the US knows as dubstep. If you want an example of a really good oldschool dubstep artist, I recommend Burial - his album Untrue is incredible
@@konkey-dong Specifically the "Brostep" sound was made with a technique used and popularized by him called FM Distortion. On a lesser level he,in my opinion, also made what I call the "vowel chop" vocals more widely used by all kinds of artists.
