From Chicago here, tomorrow is close to freezing but because i saw your video about hip slide and turn ill go to the range to try your method no matter what. You explain it very well and all youre videos are the best.
I am quickly becoming a committed student of your teaching methods. After years of questioning why one just can't rotate and slide you provided a valid explanation - you can and must combine both. My driving distance has improved dramatically, not every shot or every round but I can gauge my improved distances on my home course. Wet conditions now in Virginia but driving distances are undoubtedly improving. Thanks for your valuable insights and clear explanations of how the golf swing should work.
Hi Steve You’re video on how the right arm works on the downswing - a throwing action like skimming a stone on water seems to automatically move the hips in a sliding and rotating fashion - which feels so natural to all of us because we have all done this since being kids!
Steve, This by far is your best explanation of the Austin/Pratt slide then turn! I have left many comments in the past about turn versus slide and this just nails it!!! Being a former scratch golfer the confusion of Mike Dunleavy 4 to 10 and Bradley Hughes rotation method was somewhat contradictory but this combines the two!!! Well done thank you.................
Enjoyed your video of turning vs sliding of the hips in the golf swing providing a great explanation of the correct movement of the body through the golf swing. Would have loved an exercise to go with the explanation on how to promote the correct movement. Love your videos and coaching method.
Hey Steve! I like the different camera angles you give us when you swing (straight on and down the line), but I was wondering if it might be possible to get a view from your back and from the down the line looking back at you every now and again. BTW, been a member of hititlonger.com for a while now and this 56 year old went from around 225 total yardage with driver to 265-270 with no problem with your instruction on the website. Cheers!
If you Google something along the lines of "how to stop swaying in your golf swing", the advice that usually comes up is something along the lines of "don't move your hips laterally or your head will go with it". I know you won't agree with that advice. So, what WOULD you suggest to keep from swaying?
@@Inmotion70 I know it can. I'm just having a tough time...when I really focus on keeping my head steady, it comes at the expense of tempo and smoothness. Definitely a work in progress.
It is very confusing to slide or not to slide. There are 2 schools on youtube video. No idea who to believe. Sliding problem is u r not keeping head still when u slide. Hip rotation only u come over the top. I gave up my swing now and find a different sport. Frustrating to me.

Agree! What happened to us?
@@Inmotion70 we became too smart!

From what i can see of the pros swings, they post up on a nearly strait front leg which pushes up into the front hip while turning around it.

Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the lesson.
Explains the dynamics well
Great breakdown!
both, stomp and turn. thx, steve.
Well done!

Wow what an increase! OK yes I will try to do more of those other angles.
hi steve do you slide and turn your hips in the back swing also, like the video mike did with the golf instructors seminar?.
Do you pressure your right heel with weight left at or near top of backswing. That with staying centered or close over the ball?
We slide and turn on the backswing as well, correct?
That's an Austin pivot yes.
Is this applicable to irons (hit off the ground) as well? I may mistakenly be thinking of iron and driving swings as two different things
SWING SHOULD BE THE SAME NO MATTER WHAT CLUB YOU'RE USING. I'VE MADE THAT MISTAKE MYSELF.

I want my hips moving laterally back and forth under a steady head...just like a woman walking. See, this motion can be natural, smooth, and graceful.
