I have had two wax seals from the 70's in my craft room that I'd never used. I was convinced that I wasn't going to go down the rabbit hole now that they seem to be all the rage again BUT I saw a Golden Gate Bridge stamp and could not resist. WOW. I love how my second attempt came out. I didn't use enough wax on the first but the second I used a combo of colors and love, love, love it. I didn't even embellish it further. Such a lovely touch to my finished card.
I can see I'm going to have to get a spoon! Love the marbleized look. I also like to put narrow ribbons under the wax in colors to coordinate or contrast with the envelope and wax colors. Enjoying your videos, thank you!
The feather looked amazing and i was sure that was my favorite!... Then i saw the gold foil added to the relief and WOW, it looks so gorgeous! So Gold Foil was the surprise winner for me. This video is a favorite, how fun!
Oh good! I almost didn’t include it because I was worried that it was too boring or expected-but it was too pretty with the pale blue and gold to leave it out!
I haven't tried my kit yet but I can't wait now after seeing your video. My eyes popped at the marble seal. I will definitely be trying that. Thank you.
Isn’t it fun?! There are so many things you can do with wax seals-I have another video coming out with more ideas like this one (once I can finish filming it!)
It looks so pretty to make wax stamps. I saved the dried cherry blossom 🌸 this is the perfect way to make something beautiful! Thank you for teaching me.
I’m new to this and I just want to say, Thank You So Much for sharing this video. It’s so helpful and informative and I really appreciate it. I also love the detail you put into your stamps. 💗🖤💗
Oh you are so kind! Thank you for taking the time to let me know that you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! Let me know if there is anything specific you need help with and I am happy to answer/make a full video for you 🥰
I've been doing wax seals for a number of years now, but in a relatively unimaginative way. I have some silver Encore! paint that I have been using lately, in combination with some gold glitter. To use, I rub the seal across the pad with the silver paint, then dab it into a thin scattering of glitter before pressing it into the hot wax. I haven't used it yet, but I have a tube of gold paint in a Painter''s brand tube with a wedge tip to highlight some of the raised elements of a seal's motif. Another thing I haven't tried but have read about. If you make a mistake trying to create a good seal image, I've seen that you can put the work in a microwave for 2 minutes, and it will melt the wax enough so that you can make another attempt. I have added ribbons under a seal, but never thought of feathers or flower petals. Thanks!
It can! But the main reason that I use it is because it is easy to get the wax seals off once they have cooled. Pouring wax on it over and over again definitely warms it up so sometimes I chill it again on the ice, hah
I wish you had a video on what to wax xD I just got a wax seal kit for Christmas, and tbh I wasn't expecting to be this excited I've been stamping everything in the house, it's so therapeutic and beautiful my lotion bottle, my candle, my letters, my notebook, EVERYTHING has a wax seal on it. I put one on my 3DPrinter too.... help... I need more stamps...
Oh! One thing that is super fun-if you have a pure brass stamper, you can stamp FOOD! I’ve tried cookies (not a ton of success) but chocolates work so well!
I got a kit for Christmas too. I love it so much. I MAY have ordered many, many more stamps since then... addiction mode is fully engaged! (Hubby need never know)
It depends on how fresh your petals are, but it is definitely more fragile that way. Something I might send within an outer envelope instead of by itself (or something I had over to the recipient in person)
Unfortunately it has been discontinued and I didn’t know until after I uploaded the video. You can use rub’n’buff as well-I have Grecian Gold and it has a similar effect
YES! There are some steps that I recommend taking in order to make sure that it arrives to it's destination in one piece (detailed in this video): ua-cam.com/video/uZjkwfCTjjI/v-deo.html but I LOVE sending wax seals through the mail!
You CAN, but it’s tricky. It can melt the design on the wax because the heat will reactivate the wax. I talk about it a little in this video but didn’t share how many times it took me to get it right! Hah m.ua-cam.com/video/2Lhb5EUz2Tg/v-deo.html
These are some great ideas thank you! I want to try the flowers especially. What colour of wax do you think would go well with some little blue Forget-Me-Not flowers? I like Artisaire wax and I was thinking of their Buttercream or Antique Pearl but if you have any other suggestions I would love to hear them.
@@katrinacrouch The Dusty Blue is one I will have to get in my next order. Thank you for letting me know the name of it. Yes, Prosecco is very nice. I got a pack of sticks in my last order. Thank you so much for your prompt replies!
Hello! I'm new to this, so I was wondering. How do you have wax not on the paper. Completely together and smooth? Like a button. I want to try that. Except I don't know where to start.
It’s older from Paper Fashion. I don’t know if she is even selling paint anymore but I do like it! Such a good, creamy color! I’ll keep an eye out for a dupe
Depends on the size of the seal and the brand/size of the beads, but I usually start with 3. You need at least one bead (I think that 1.5 extra works best) to push the wax out of the spoon.
Did you mention what type of paint you used? Was it acrylic? Just getting into this addiction and watching all 13 of your wax seal videos today. Hugs, Julie.
I don’t actually know the type! I think it’s water based, but it’s no longer made so I can’t research it further. If I was buying something today, I would get acrylic or use some rub’n’buff!
Pour REALLY close to your surface or wax “puddle”. I think I talk more about this is my “perfectly round” wax seal tutorial, but I will also have another video with more detail on it coming out soon. Basically if you pour too high your wax starts to cool at different rates, creating “rings”. This is super common/problematic with metallic waxes.
I purchase my stamps from Artisaire (they are having a sale right now!) and you can find the designs I featured in the video here: artisaire.com/collections/vendors?q=Artisaire%20x%20Katrina%20Crouch%20Art
Honestly, I’m not sure! I haven’t used it enough to even know. But acrylic paint would work well for creating this effect as it does not dissolve in water! Paint pens like sharpies work well too
Do you need permission from the creator of the designs (heron, peonies, etc. to sell?) if so, where can I find the rights to sell. Thank you! Your work is amazing!
These are my designs and yes, you need permission to sell. I am currently partnered with Artisaire.com for production but they do have wholesale opportunities available. And as with other works, credit to designer must be given when shared 💕

I love that you saved some florals! I forgot to this year but look forward to the spring 😍 enjoy!
i like the flowers, but i am VERY excited to try the paint method. Especially if I am using a dark colored wax.

When you do marble wax seal @3:54, does the cold surface on the metal make the wax harden quickly?

Do you think that water based paint pens would work on wax?
Thanks for your help. Dominique 😉
They might but I think they would be more likely to rub off

The wax seal stamps can be found here: bit.ly/3Ixk6wy along with some premade wax seal options
Would these stamps work to “stamp” eyeshadow or highlighter pans? To imprint a design into the “sandy” feel before the material dries?
I think they would! Just make sure they are nice and dry so that they don’t pick any product up ☺️
Thank you! Will definitely look into this more.

I meant colorful wax and plain stamp lol
Lol! Both would be pretty! Sometimes I use dried flowers with hot glue as the “wax” to mix it up 😉
Wax seals aren't manmade any more then crushed flowers are manmade. It's manipulated wax.
