I spent 15 years down the pits at Gedling, annesley and bentinck. I was a coal face worker and deputy. It was the best time of my life

Short term economic thinking rather than understanding what is the in the interests of the country and it's people in the longer term. Now we have energy prices substantially higher than our European peer countries, with manufacturers preferring to invest in those countries. The development of our natural resources through ingenuity and hard work,
particularly a reliable and cost-effective energy base, was the foundation of an industrial revolution that projected the UK into a world leader. Saddened to see we've lost so much so soon.

I spent many years underground as a hydraulics engineer working alongside the engineers and miners,I was at that time the only private contractor who was allowed in the mine, which was Dawmill colliery I absolutely loved the job and the lads were absolutely fantastic people who I had the privilege to work with I wish with all my heart that we could have a coal industry back because wind and solar are simply not good enough and nuclear takes far too long to build and he costs are astronomical compared with coal

Your not wrong it’s the governments fault they demanded axing of coal in favour of gas then the absolutely dumb ass idea of closing profitable mines like calverton and annesley total ineptitude to close the most profitable mines shame on the reprobates responsible for the industry demise and stupid part is annesley alone still has 100 years of coal underground underneath what is now jasmine gardens houses on hazleford way
