    I've had it a couple of times and some movements are frightening, like cleaning with a needle or burning tool. But the absence of pain and doctor's confidence make it less frightening. Thank you for showing in details!

    I’ve had a root canal and it was surprisingly painless. The only annoyance for me was when one of the drill tools would vibrate my whole head. It gave me a weird feeling down my spine like when I use a file on my nails. The pain from infection that I had in it prior to the procedure was the worst part

    My first dentist not only messed up the root canal and refused to apply anesthetic properly, but I also remember her using a TORCH for sealing! Not surprisingly the root canal ended up hurting again not even a year later. Thankfully I go to a different dentist now who saw what a bad job she did and redid it for me. Holding up great with over 6 years counting and no signs of inflammation at all!! He also thoroughly watches the anesthetic and is aware of when it can wear off and checks in on me during the procedure to make sure it’s still working!

      Its not that bad, really. Especially if you compare all the discomfort on the process to the pain of infected teeth feeling. I've got some root canal treatment before WITHOUT any anesthetic (I didnt know I can request some til bening told from this video) and it still worth more than enduring infected teeth's pain each hour even doing nothing. I couldn't be more thankful to the dentist

    I don't trust dentists. I had a root canal done on my third from the from molar. Well they sealed infection in my tooth and didn't kill the tooth like they claimed. I went over ten years with that in my tooth and hardly being able to eat even mashed potatoes without being in excruciating pain. Every time I went to the dentists (multiple, not just one) they took X-rays, then told me the pain isn't coming from where it's coming, that it's coming from a different tooth because, apparently some jackass thinks he can tell me where pain is coming from when I'm the one experiencing it.
    Over ten years of infection being sealed in my half living tooth. Finally I found a dentist who took and xray and immediately saw the infection offered to pull the tooth then and there. It was the best thing to ever happen to my mouth.

    • @verus2007
      @verus2007 3 роки тому

      You can do it two ways:
      - 'older' method: put a small file in the root till where you feel resistance and take an x-ray with the file still in the root. That way you can determine if the file needs to be put a bit deeper/higher or not. If there is not much difference, you can estimate the distance (and maybe take another x-ray to check).
      - 'new' method: there are devices that can determine when you reach the root tip, because the (electric?) resistance will be the highest there. You have to put a metal rounded hook in the mouth to close the circuit with the file.

    I got a root canal a while back when I was maybe twelve. They never capped it, and since the tooth was dead, it got brittle. This is as it was explained to me. The tooth broke repeatedly over the span of about five years, but insurance refused to cover getting it fixed because it was cosmetic. Eventually it cracked above the gumline. I got that tooth removed with three wisdom teeth shortly before my eighteenth birthday, and now I'm meant to be allowing my remaining wisdom tooth to shimmy down to close the gap left behind. I don't know shit about any of it very well. I can't believe it happened.

    I impulsively agreed to a root canal treatment before and unfortunately it caused me a lot of pain and money. If only this vid existed before or if I did more research (and went to a more trusted dentist), I would have saved myself 5 sessions of torture. T.T

    may I ask
    on a real patient, how do you know when you've reached the tip of the canal?
    is it just visible looking through the tooth?
    it's just looking at a see-through dummy it confuses me.

      The patient will know but might not see it, the dentist will know, because of the measurement of the tooth seen thru the xray. As far as I can remember, the root canal procedure was not painful precisely because the root was already dead. The hollow portion was cleaned and filled.

    I had a root canal done recently and what I don’t understand is why my dentist drilled down a lot of the tooth and put a post in when he told me the tooth was in good shape and it should be easy but this is going on appointment number 4 and now it needs a crown too it’s frustrating not understanding what’s going on and then not telling me and just charging away

    I had 6 root canals and my top teeth we're pushed back due to a skating accident when I was 9. I got a metal brace and facial reconstruction along with the 6 root canals. I felt one of root canals and I told my dentist but he never stopped. Now 5 years later, I have to get it checked to see of he did it right so I can get braces. If he didn't, they might have to redo them. (Yes I do still feel pain on the tooth I said hurt anytime I drink something hot or cold)

    Do you HAVE to get crowns or can you get fillings? But apparently fillings are weaker for root treated tooth. Crowns are always recommended it seems?

    • @cruxell
      @cruxell 3 роки тому

      Fillings are always weaker then crowns, usually what happens is you get the filling and then a crown over it, the fillings is the only thing keeping the bacteria out and ruining the whole root canal, so having a crown and replacing it every 15 years or so can and usually keeps your infected tooth safe untill you die, or atleast untill your old enough wear having dentures is the norm, but who knows what dentristy will look like in 15-30 years, implants have gotten so much cheape that in the future that ripping the tooth out and getting an implant might even be the better option.

The Dentist told me her files were complete so it wasn't her fault, she told me maybe it has been there since a long time, but how? also she didn't show me her files and before the procedure the xrays didn't show that piece... She told me it wasn't a big deal and we should leave it like that, should i believe her?

    Sir. I treated Lower first premolar today. The BMP is fully done upto it's full length by 6% 25 files .. tooth is symtomless but when i place the GP the patient had pain when GP is reaches 2mm short of the root length.. I even placed the GP short of its length.. I crossed checked. No remaining pulpal tissue. Properly irrigated. Anyway I gave a de pulp again and called the patient after few day. I am assuming if it is because of lateral canals or fracture on the apical third of the root. Can you suggest me what to do?🙏
    Ps. Pain is only when GP reaches the apical third of the root length

Oh man it was so painful I end up telling the dentist to ignore my pain and go throught no matter what... And after a big push tons of pain finally the needle got in and then the rapid relief of the anesthesic after that normal with the manual drills
