Very well done, you have explained a complex program in simple terms with excellent results! I did cringe a bit thinking you should have done this or that differently, but I realized you have simplified a program that many people have difficulty understanding, as always another helpful video!

      Thanks Tony, totally understandable. :)

I like this a lot, Chris. Please keep in mind, neodymium magnets are very brittle (their metal shell is very thin) and don't like metal things being thrown at them. It may be desirable to embed them from outside leaving a plastic cover over them. Just in case.

    • @ChrisRiley
      @ChrisRiley  5 років тому +1

Thanks Yura, that's not a bad idea. I think I am going to try this with a couple of bigger magnets.

I'm no expert on Fusion 360, but watching Lar's videos helped me a lot. One tip for you when doing patterns is you can choose Features instead of Bodies and then you can select one or more things from the timeline at the bottom. It's pretty powerful.
This is a good idea though, those allen keys are everywhere, lol.

Great tips, thanks Mike. Lars is the man I watch him often.

Watch NYCCNC helped me more. I did watch a lot of Videos from Lars. But sometimes his accent puts me into a comma

"What do you do with all these hex wrenches." Stocking stuffers bro, stocking stuffers. Great video! I'm a simple man I see practical printing I click and like.

Stocking sufferers....I should have thought of that. Thanks man! I have no where near your Fusion expertise, but I try my best.

Paint a colored stripe on each hex key and you don’t need the different sections and can more easily tell them apart when you have several laying on the bench.

You are completely right. There are ways to design things another way, better maybe the point is to start and not to be afraid of some overwhelming CAD software. I started with 'not best practice' way and got my results and now I feel much more comfortable with Fusion 360 and design better. What approach you choose, how you make /design something doesn't matter, the result what you make is important.

First Benchy Jenga and now another game! Laughed so much at that.
Nice practical solution and this is what 3D printing is all about.

Great idea Chris. You're right, no one needs to be good at anything, as long as they get the results they need, all is good. Anyway, the rest of us are always here to help when anyone needs it. I never throw tools away either.

The OCD comment was hilarious 😆!!
Sure there’s other ways to make what you did in F360, but hey, I also pecked my way through F360 for over a year.
Only recently have I found a UA-cam channel that is run by a F360 guru.
He has great short videos, like yours.
I suggest everyone check his channel out.
