    Louie CK's point is great: Just because something horrible happened to you that doesn't turn you magically into an expert on that horrible thing that happened to you. Actually the trauma will most likely make you biased in some way.

      Exactly. Proper analogy is: your friend was in an awful relationship. He comes out of it hating women. Does he know what he’s talking about just because he had an experience you didn’t? Maybe he has some insight you could hear but it doesn’t make him automatically right, in fact it might make him wrong.

    Louis C.K. is a comedic genius. The subtle nature of his comedy has given me the most visceral belly laughs in my life. One of my favorite scenes is when he is on Fox News/redeye with Gutfeld and he’s arguing about his rights to masturbate. In the pop up caption it describes him as a comedian/masturbator. Those little details he puts into his work is what makes an excellent.

      I saw Louie live as well, and I saw Todd Barry. Todd was great, but it was consistant with watching at home. You know? Louie in a live setting is like a damn energy source, it's so crazy. I had damn tears in my eyes all night and remember it so vividly. Then I saw the special it was based on, later. It was great, but nothing compared to hearing it live. Because there's more risk and edge when it's not recorded for a public special. (I saw the year where the special was in Phoenix in that round area or whatever. That dog in the toilet joke was just so insanely funny live. Like this absurdist thought that was so far out there. And its jokes like that others wouldn't even be able to imagine)

      Just look at who he picked for his longtime girlfriend/partner. She ended up stealing the money that was donated by fans for his documentary.
      Btw, I don’t blame him for being bitter against women after some of his experiences like being falsely accused of rape. But it’s good to keep in mind that he was wounded.

      Quit guessing what happened and go read the NYT article. A few said yes, others said no. You’re thinking of Harvey who would stand in the doorway. Louie sat in a chair and jerked it, they watched and laughed while he nutted all over his ginger tumtum. They admitted all of this. Didnt decide it made them uncomfortable until after the fsct, which is fine I guess, but dont call up NYT and try to lump him in with the MeTew fucks when by your own admission you went along with it and thought it was funny. Sarah Silverman said she’d watched him do it and never felt threatened or felt the need to come after him publicly. Im sure he did it to plenty of women who just didnt care, or at least thought it was weird, yet managed to move on with their lives and careers.

    I'm sitting here almost falling asleep and watching this clip. I'm thinking these guys are making a ton of sense. For god's sake, Louis CK is a god damn genius. Then I remember what happened with him. He used to be able to push the limits of what most people considered the threshold of right and wrong. He could make jokes about children dying to gunfire and with his amazing wit and talent, he could keep us captivated and listening to uncomfortable truths that would be impossible to discuss without humor. But then we caught him doing something that damaged our trust in him so deeply that now when he tries to make these same jokes and push these limits, we think..."What if this guy is just an asshole and WE were covering for him? Were we the ones all along giving him the go ahead? Is he really a genius or did we just buy into his bullshit?"
    Honestly, most people don't even want to know the answer to that question and would rather have him just fuck off. It is very sad because I once considered him a hero.

    • @stephanjones8424
      @stephanjones8424 5 років тому +1

      To follow up, he is just a normal guy. Not a hero, and he didn't ask for it. But there is a lot of power in perception and people, whether right or wrong, just don't trust him anymore.

    I 100 % agree with Tim here. And though I definitely find every word out of Tim's mouth hilarious when he riffs, I don't even really agree with him on half of it (though he's not riffing here). But man I could listen to him all day. He's hilarious. But yeah for me he's dead on here.

    Was anybody else a little pissed at Joe regarding the conversation he had about the Louis controversy with Tom Papa shortly after it came out? Joe argued that Louis wasn't really punished for it, they just pulled the movie he made and canceled his next special. He argued that Louis lost a lot of money but that it wasn't really punishment.

      Yes! In the same bit he talked about how kids with peanut allergies are probably just supposed to die. Its the execution that nails it and makes you laugh while immediately feeling awkward for laughing at such a thing. Its cathartic to laugh about fucked up shit and thats what he pulls off so effortlessly
