The batting looks like polyester? Thermo-polyester should NOT be used for anything that will be subjected to heat; it`s plastic and plastic will start to melt when heated. You need natural batting, like wool or cotton for pot holders and oven mitts. Thermo-polyester keeps you warm, but can`t take heat; like a sleeping bag. The design is nice though; thank you for video! 🙂👍
It says right on the video that she’s using InsulBright which is specifically made for things like potholders. I have used it myself and it’s awesome.
@@melissab3038 Right. I just checked out Insulbright. It will insulate, but it said it is covered on both sides with polyester; which will MELT if in direct contact with a heat source. So you will need batting on either side of the Insulbright, you can`t use it alone; you`ll end up with a pot holder that very soon will look bad. So you should sew on the batting and then add insulbright in between the layers and not sew the patchwork on the insulbright itself. So just like any other thermo-polyester in that respect.
