"Low quality football" some "experts" say. I'm no expert, but it seems to me these guys played their hearts out. Plus, they play ten times better than I ever could, so hats off to them. I'm both a USFL and NFL fan now. Not a big fan of the helmet cam, though. It makes me dizzy. Maybe it's just my age (60's)
I think feedback will either make or break the usage of helmet cams and the drone coverage, they'll either scale it back or abandon it totally. I don't love it at all, it's too roller coastery ( new word ) 🙂
Thanks for disabling the region lock. I am really excited about this USFL. It is great, that we football fans in the UK can see quality games from the USFL.
Helmet cam and drone shots is something I’ve been preaching all major sport series to use so I’m glad someone is finally putting it to use it makes the game feel so much more a live while watching on a screen. Great game guys and great camera work!
LOVED IT ! Usage of drones, on field mics, great football players....I dig it. Keep up the great production work and my hat is off to all those players, great job!
Love the highlight reel, however as a UK viewer I'd love to actually watch the full game! Its meant to be shown in the UK but you've got it carried for 1 game in espn for your entire run. Please can you put them on UA-cam or some other platform that can be watched in the uk?
I’m so happy for this league. My family and I were fans of the last World football league. We had loads of fun and missed very few games. Let’s support and keep this league going. I will be there.Go Stallions!!!
U need more Birmingham residents supporting the Stillions but it's good to see Alabama residents supporting them Birmingham Stillions because its a blessing to have a pro team in the state of Alabama. keep up
Due to some other family obligations, I wasn't able to attend the game but watched it on TV. Really enjoyed the game. Loved the on field camera angles. Also enjoyed in-game/action mic too. I will be at the next few games.
checked out my former childhood neighbor in Kentucky- Larry Kirsey who is coaching the Running Backs! small world, always tell my son, who coaches in NFL. I'm in California..son in Baltimore. have a great day ; )
Great debut!!! The production value is top notch. FOX is putting a great amount of time and effort into it and it shows. Phenomenal work and props to the behind the scenes crew for it all. Without any form of disrespect, it's clear the on-field talent wouldn't compete against the big brand but it doesn't matter, the game was fun and the intensity of the players was obvious. Couple of recommendations (Not that anyone asked) - 1) For the hot mics - find players who have charisma and would connect with the audience. They may not be the best player on their team but what we need is a connection with the fan base to create a long-lasting relationship. Make said players communicate in a way that the fans from the city they represent would understand. For example, I'm in Cleveland and if the USFL had a Cleveland team and a player from said team said, "We are burning hotter than the Cuyahoga river", it would be insane because I would know exactly what that player meant and it would make it more personal. Give the fans a reason to care for the team/players. 2) Add players social media links as "Air Bubbles" when talking good about them. A dude scores a touchdown, pop that bubble over his head so people can go follow him. Of course, make sure the player has a clean social media history or have them all start a new account under "USFL", i.e "qb001USFL". That way the league can easily monitor their presence and interactions. Again, this is all about the connection to the fans. 3) When doing the drone/helmet cams, can you post a picture-in-picture of the game cam, so the people can compare the two simultaneously? I enjoyed the new cam views but having the original play to compare on the moment would had added more fun. 4) Add females to the on-air staff. Also, figure out a way for attractive bodybuilding females to be included on the sidelines. They don't have to be ripped, ripped, but definitely "built". Why? Because it will add a talking point for the commentators and fans. Then post the social media links for their sites, remember, under USFL, and then you now connect a whole new fan base to the league. For reference, the bodybuilder Joan Marie Laurer, better known as "Chyna" in the WWF/E, was nothing more than an "enforcer" when she came into the sports. By the end, she was one of the most prominent figures in the organization and changed the sport for female athletes. Find a way to do that in the USFL. Please don't be dumb with this. Pay respect to the ladies who are busting their backs building their bodies.. 5) Find a way to raffle off things from the actual game. For example, the first touchdown ball will be signed by the QB and any other player who caught it or ran it at halftime. Have the announcing team let the audience know all they have to do is text or twit at us and you will be eligible to win the football, clipboard, playcard, etc etc. Make a connection to the fans that nobody else is doing. 6) Have special footballs for special occasions and tell the audience why. Make the league more than just football because on the sport itself, unfortunately, you will be lacking talent until you grow into your own. I can offer more info on this. Anyways, I have way more ideas but this are the first one that came to mind. I hope you keep growing and getting better.
Man all of this is a great recommendation. I agree with you with all points. I live in Birmingham and work right across the street from the Usfl headquarters. If I see someone outside of the building( I saw the ceo of Fox the other day at a local restaurant) I would definitely share this. Anyway I can credit you for your ideas? This is awesome.
Glad its back, never thought I'd ever see this league back. Was a great league, except for half the owners were not capable of managing a pro franchise. Hope it lasts and all the teams eventually get back, SanAntonio Gunslingers, Denver Gold. L.A. Express, oklahoma outlaws, ect... they should show ALL games on UA-cam.
Game was cool and exciting, keep thinking though, if any of the guys show real potential the NFL is going to try and snatch them up so quick. I’ll definitely be watching it, I enjoyed it.
Mcgough what a beautiful throw for the first td. It was the third progression too. He might’ve been a lil rough but it’s the first game man. Give that dude another shot
I'm impressed, this is good, football in the summer... all the glitz, we don't need, just football.. and that's what this is ... football, 8 teams..short season, perfect
Great first game of the U.S.F.L. league!! I've been a N.F.L. fan of my Dallas Cowboys since their inception in 1960. Now looking forward for more U.S.F.L FOOTBALL......🏈🏈🏈
I really loved the AAF, but the main investors didn’t have the balls to stick it out. That quality of play in that league was the best I had seen in an alternative league in my lifetime. I was so upset when it folded because of lack of funding. Had nothing to do with the players, coaching or fan support. I was very impressed by the play in the USFL opening weekend, 3weeks to put together teams and they come out playing like that. Big props to the coaching staffs and the players for buying in. I lie the smaller rosters so they aren’t paying people to sit the bench, and most everyone gets in the game. However, for a league that trying to make its bread and butter off tv revenue, it still sucks to have a nearly empty stadium, except when Birmingham plays. If you want fans in the cities, that these teams represent, to take time from their busy lives to watch a team with their city name then they need to be able to get to know these guys and have a reason to root for them. Sure would be nice if they got to pick at least one week to have a game in the actual home city instead of 100% in Birmingham. And I say this as an Alabamian. It’s great exposure for our state, but if you are gonna name the teams after other cities then they need to have some connection to the city outside just the name. I get they are trying to save money since finances are what has sunk every other league, but only having fans at a couple games out of the whole season, makes the atmosphere, even on tv kinda stale. They really should consider playing at least 1 game in each cities hometown, then next year, god willing the teams will hopefully go to their respective cities and already have at least some fan support. Also Birmingham is getting a huge advantage over every other team, having their fans at every home and “away” game since they are all in Bham. Imagine what Legion field is going to look like with 500 fans like what we’re at the Nola/Philly game. There were maybe 150-200 at the Houston/Michigan game. That can’t continue, gotta get people in the stands somehow, get creative ASAP!!! Maybe they should have given the teams generic names instead of going with the old USFL team names. At least there wouldn’t be any bias towards only the Birmingham team. Trying to be realistic and honest. I live in Alabama and want to support the Stallions and the USFL, but just can’t look past the obvious hurdles they must pass. Come on Alabama, we need to show up, at least somewhat for the other teams games too. Want the stallions to be here next year too, then maybe go to the stallions game an a second game each week. The tickets are cheap and every adult can bring up to 3 kids under like 16(I think, may be 18 even) for free. That’s good family entertainment for the cheap, and the stadium is absolutely 1st class.
No Overpaid players... No Politics ... Just Football. Enjoyed watching! I hope this continues and gets even better. The NFL is full of Drama Queens and it's all about the Money. This is a nice fresh League and I like it.
Needs more fluidity with the highlights. For example you showed 2 plays of the Generals drive and then it cut to the Stallions in the redzone scoring a TD. The camera angles were amazing but whoever edits these needs to plan out the order a bit
Was there. It was a blast! It was a pretty big crowd despite the rain right before the game. Good energy and a lot of entertainment during time-outs, downtime etc. I wanted to see what the drone stuff looked like since you could see it zipping around everywhere. It was pretty crazy where the operator was piloting it. Cool footage. I would have crashed 50 times. Go Stallions!

I love the USFL!!! I also loved the AAF! I really thought that was the best alternative to the NFL!! It had all the right people higher up like Bill Polian who made the superbowl teams for the Buffalo Bill's with Kelly and the 2 Colts teams with Manning! I thought it was setup perfectly but the main investor gave up on the league!!🤬 I hope this USFL makes it cuz i think the NFL needs some competition. I love football and that it runs opposite of the nfl. Lets keep this thing going!!! I wanna see more teams when it keeps growing and expands!!! I want 1 in Rochester NY, Buffalo or Syracuse! I moved to New England. Half the week in Maine and the other in New Hampshire, so maybe one in Portland? NOT BOSTON!!! Where can I buy the USFL apparel? Gotta support this new league!!! Honestly if the USFL didn't fail in the mid 80s I wouldnt have seen my Bill's go to 4 superbowls in a row with Jim Kelly cuz he would still be on the USFL Houston Gamblers!! Lol So I guess it was good the USFL didn't make it before BUT these are new times and I wanna see this league grow!!!! LET'S GOOOOOO USFL MIFIA!!!!

Personally I love the helmet cams and drone cameras,
Don’t forget to mention the fact that the USFL gives us football fans a chance to watch some football over the summer
Those same experts probably watch NCAA football, which is objectively lower quality than this.
Fr props to them
This was an awesome first game for the league 🔥
@Musical Box nope. L take
Thanks for disabling the region lock. I am really excited about this USFL. It is great, that we football fans in the UK can see quality games from the USFL.

Helmet cams are great for QBs, now we can see what they saw on a play from field level. TV angles can be misleading sometimes.
A lot of times when the talent isn't across the board its funner to watch because scores will be plentiful.
