Those Orion glasses are effectively holographic, the AR objects practically fit the definition of holograms. The glasses are not smooth/solid lenses, they have microscopic diffraction structures etched into them and those structures reflect the light projected from the sides into your eyes.

How immersive do people need things to be? Because I can watch a film on a screen the normal way and I'm fine. I don't need it beamed directly on to the back of my eyeballs. Just need a good story. That said, I can maybe understand it where games are concerned.
