You know I've always said that the Thomas theme was actually one of the better themes of kids TV in terms of composition. It's ridiculously chromatic yet sounds completely normal - the notes go ALL over the damn place, and somehow remains catchy. Perfectly suited to jazz. You rocked it. The fat controller laughed. Gordon was cross.

Wow. Been listening since the Diddy Kong Racing covers, but this one hits home square in the heart. Mike and Junior did a phenomenal job with the themes for the first four seasons (FYI, check out James' theme if you want some inspiration...if you haven't already), and this does justice to all of them. Granted, as much as I love their work, I think their mojo started to run out in Season 4, and ever since then since then, the show (through all its incarnations, good and bad) has been grasping for the right sound. I think that the first few books of the Railway Series(the original book series that provided the basis for the TV show, look it up) were actually set in the 1920s-1930s. The books themselves were made in the 40s, making Thomas 74 yrs. old. As for the TV show, it was made in the 80s and probably set in the 60s.

May I ask what program you used to edit this? I use Vegas Pro 17 for a similar still of video (not the music tho) but it's so badly optimised for multiple videos on the screen at once, so I'm curious to see what other people use!

@@Jachael123 I've done quite a few videos like this in Davinci Resolve which is free. If you're still having problems with playback I'd say look into codecs and proxies and make sure you're not trying to edit h.264 files

This was awesome. Bravo, sir. As a lifelong Thomas fan, I salute you. Bonus points if you someday do a follow-up video of the other characters' themes. Some are easy, like James, Gordon, even Season 5 Percy (the version I'd recommend). Others might be a challenge to jazz up; Edward is pretty straight, Henry might be tricky, and Duck is a straight up waltz so good luck there.
As an up and coming music major in college and a long time fan of thomas the tank engine this is one of my all time favorite renditions of the theme honestly I hope I can get that good someday. Absolutely amazing!!!

May I ask what program you used to edit this? I use Vegas Pro 17 for a similar still of video (not the music tho) but it's so badly optimised for multiple videos on the screen at once, so I'm curious to see what other people use!
My recommendation is buying a better computer 4Head the rest is practice
@@MaintainMundane I bought a beefy af computer at the end of last year and it has the same problems. It definitely isn't a problem with my PC, it's a problem with Vegas.
@@Jachael123 I've done quite a few videos like this in Davinci Resolve which is free. If you're still having problems with playback I'd say look into codecs and proxies and make sure you're not trying to edit h.264 files

Bonus points if you someday do a follow-up video of the other characters' themes. Some are easy, like James, Gordon, even Season 5 Percy (the version I'd recommend). Others might be a challenge to jazz up; Edward is pretty straight, Henry might be tricky, and Duck is a straight up waltz so good luck there.
Diesel's theme might make for a cool (and sleazy) Latin number!

As an up and coming music major in college and a long time fan of thomas the tank engine this is one of my all time favorite renditions of the theme honestly I hope I can get that good someday. Absolutely amazing!!!
