Your exhaust is to blame. Not the product.
    Example:
Get a hair dryer, point it to your hand while blowing hot, let's us know what happens...

So you mounted these when you had rear exit exhaust that's inline with the flaps. They get hot and fail and its their fault? Really? Common sense must have taken the day off when you put these on.

Like I could see that melt down coming before you started talking. Like from 50 states away! Its the exhaust location not the flaps however you could have mounted stainless squares on the inside of the flaps to better reflect the heat.

As long as you have exhaust out the back your gonna have issues with any hitch mud flaps

Install them right next time. Longer shank or tilt the flaps fwd to get away from the heat. I've been running Tamers for over 10yrs and have never had any issues such as yours.

a few years down the road and Rock Tamers now have a heat shield for P/U's with rear exhausts. I've done some research on this and every truck with side exhausts have not had this problem

Why are they flopping around like no one read the instructions? Were your people supposed to do that too?

First off you need to have your exhaust turned out. Especially if you are going to use this Pickup to tow instead of a Truck.
Part of the problem with the so called failure is the failure to be Installed Correctly.
You can see in the video that there is room to slide the bracket back and away from the truck.
Plus it should be tightened so it doesn't wobble around.
Redirect the tailpipes and slide the bracket away from the bumper and you will be good to go!!👍

Lmfao. Go to muffler shop reroute the exhaust pipe out the side. Not only that, you can replace the mud flap part once you move the exhaust.

Why would you have your exhaust come straight out the rear on a tow vehicle?

Why buy a 1500 for towing

I installed mud flaps on my rear wheel for my new 25 foot airstream. This has resulted in a big dent just above the rock guards. Therefore, don't think that this will solve your issue.

I see a lot of issues caused by the owner not the rock tamers and a lot of poor maintenance

  • @meanderingmarnochs

Don't blame the product when it's clearly an installation fault. If you cut the exhaust holes in the right spot, they wouldn't have failed

Rock guards will be better. They won't be affected by the heat from the exhaust, which is what caused the melting on your rock tamers.

Your got the wrong flaps, you need the metal flaps and you put the exhaust outlets in the metal flaps, not the rubber flaps. You buy them as a extra.
You should of read the instruction instructions.

The flopping around does not help your situation.. The two bolts on the bottom clamp the unit in place and this might eliminate your HOT problem.. I think with the dual exhaust the closer to the tailpipes the better..

Hi, I love your videos! I’ve enjoyed all of them. I’m interested in the rock tamers if you are going to sell them.

Like Breno wrote, your exhaust caused the damage to the Rock Tamers. What did you really expect with dual exhaust?

Thats unfortunate that the rear exit exhaust on your truck ruined them but unfortunately, they were not designed for that application them exhaust screens in the rubber are not part of the product at least not, that iv seen

I just watched their video and they tell you to rotate the flaps down if you have exhaust existing the rear. That way they won’t melt. Maybe what I watched was the next generation of their flaps.

NO, so what your telling me is a company built and designed a product to fail, so everything you buy breaks the moment you use them? Some items yes, I buy tires for all my cars at least every 4 to 5 years, NOT every couple of months. this product only lasted 4 months, and was hundreds of dollars. When you purchase a product that is hundred os dollars do you expect it to be a one time use?

wandering WandA well I have the same rock tamers and have had them 5 years and they still look good and perform flawlessly, so by positioning yours as far away as you had your guys position them, it made your exhaust fan out further instead of thru the intended hole. Install and operator error.

    • @wanderingwanda9869
      @wanderingwanda9869  3 роки тому

No, that is as close to the tail pipe as the Rock Tamer guard will go, there is no operator error, my guys installed the product exactly as to the Manual. This product works great when the tail pipe is to the side of the truck. They should Not promote this product for Duel End Tail Pipes.

This is an extremely poor review. I have owned the same rock tamers for about5 years now and they have been amazing and I travel grid roads 30% of of the time and long distance traveling in the winter time
