Sometimes the homemade are better than the store bought and safer too. I stick to natural materials colored with food coloring while some bird toys sold are plastic with many insafe dyes and break and have ingredients or things that your bird should not have. I know you said foraging toys but consider the bird climbing ropes or bird hammocks as these are simple net tying methods. The rope or material to do this is available from farm stores to Amazon to craft stores.
I’m so glad I found your channel ohmygawsh!! I’ve been looking for diy bird toys to keep my budgies entertained and also to save up on money cause bird toys as you said can be really expensive. This is absolutely amazing!💜
My birds loved their wooden swing but then they use it out of frustration so I’m planning on buying more because I have the money to. Edit: The millet she was using is the same that I use!
I bought some finger traps from AliExpress months ago and my parrotlet didn't seem to care too much for them. After several different treat offerings I tried the full millet spray tucked inside. Destruction ensued! Now whatever I put inside one of these, he destroys them immediately. Definately his favorite foraging toy!
Awesome. Gonna make some for my green cheek conure. I want a cinnomon green cheen so badly but affraid it won't get along with my normal green cheek😬 Is that a turquoise green cheek? Just curious. Loved the toy ideas! Thanks a bunch for the tips and ideas😊✌
in one of her videos she says don't use rope perch as they might eat them but then here at 3:40 her toys have rope I'm a little confused on how to select toys pls help !
I know your comment is from two years ago, but just in case anyone else is wondering the same thing: I wouldn't recommend repurposing a wire coat hanger as they typically wouldn't be made from a bird-safe metal. Stainless steel wire is generally the safest option.
The bad thing is my bird is scared of his toys he's a Cockatail named coco I bought him toys I made him some of your diy toys ideas aswell but he's just too scared he's attached to me the most in the family and I hav ehade him for 3 months now
pretend that you are playing with the toys,be enthusiastic about them.My cockatiel is also not used at all to any kind of toys or playing, and she is not very attached to me,but I have been making her toys and what helps is me pretending to be very interested in them,to play with them in front of her, call her name and praise her! It works like a miracle honestly, she becomes very interested in what I'm holding and what I'm playing with and tries to mimick me.Do this for longer periods of time and reward with a treat(I give her millet, you can use sunflower seeds or whatever she prefers the most). In that way, your bird will start associating the toys with the treats, and will automatically be more keen to playing with them. What is most important is to give your birdie time to get used to them ! It's not easy and you definitely need patience, but I'm already in the 4th day of encouraging this and my cockatiel is already foraging and playing with paper toys. You can do it!!
Very beneficial videos thanks alot, r the conure parrots of the same genders or opposite ones and wondering if they r together from the beginning, kindly i need a video about introducing a new parrot to another one and different breeds that get along with each other, and if i need to add another parrot to my male quaker parrot what do u recommend if i dont want babies ( female quaker) and can parrots of the same gender(male quakers) get along or gonna fight, sorry for my long message
hi! do you mean the colored tissue paper that you use for gifts or like tissues? i'm not entirely sure if colored tissue paper is safe because of the dyes and i wouldn't use tissues either. when you're not sure, stick to what you know is safe like white copy paper, newspaper, and unbleached/natural brown paper like brown paper bags! if anyone knows if tissue paper is safe, please comment below and help a fellow parront out! 💕
My bird is a sun conure and he is only 6 months old and I wanted him to learn foraging so I did the second one without crinkle paper now iam going to put it in its cage

Cocktail bird eats almond
For the one with the veggies you could also put string on each end and hang it :D

Are the dyes in colored cupcake wrapper toxic for birds???
What I like to do is in between my birds keyword with vegetables I like the little foot toys that have holes in them so they have to move away the fun
can you link where you got the shot glasses from? I searched some places, but I didn't find them
Am I the only one who has a bird that isn’t interested in foraging? He only likes shredding
in one of her videos she says don't use rope perch as they might eat them but then here at 3:40 her toys have rope I'm a little confused on how to select toys pls help !
I didn't have a wire from any old toys, so I was wondering if using a coat hanger wire would be a safe option instead
I know your comment is from two years ago, but just in case anyone else is wondering the same thing: I wouldn't recommend repurposing a wire coat hanger as they typically wouldn't be made from a bird-safe metal. Stainless steel wire is generally the safest option.
Can you make a video about, how to get your bird to trust you? I just got a new bird and I wanted him to be my best friend!, I love birds so much.
yes definitely! congrats on the new birdie! 💕

I love your ideas but worry about dyes and plastics. If materials are used from outdoors, would you have to sterilize them? I assume so….
Some of the thumbnail was covered so I just read it as “DIY BIRD.”
Nah my bird is scared of everything
