great idea! I have been having a heart time finding a variety of play gyms, I do have pointers (tips) though: - make sure to sanitise the branches (no bugs/pests/etc)(you can use pressure washer and wipe wipe vinegar - any metal used, make sure they are stainless steel (avoid toxic material) -also avoid plastic - same for any coloured blocks/pcs make sure they are only coloured with natural colouring (food colouring) - its better adviced to avoid using bells so no fingers or beak gets stuck to them - oh also same for spray paint make sure they are bird safe (although honestly I personally would avoid spraying altogether) - if you are using ropes (including for perching) try to use materials such as sisal (but make sure they are not covered in substances), seagrass, etc, cotton rope is not highly recommended as their claws might get tangled or they might ingest them (it is fine if you know your bird doesnt chew on it and/or if they are placed outside the cage and with supervised playtime basically, always do your research and make sure to bird proof everything, birds have a very sensitive reparatory system and toxic fumes can be fatal .. immediately .. (including any cookware with Teflon steer clear from them!)
You've inspired me! I have purchased some items and will be buisy making some fun and safe toys. The more I research, the more picky I am with what my birds can get ahold of and swallow.
This was definitely helpful and inspiring. I've wanted to build something for my birds since I've had them, early November. After spending $22 on a toy that my budgies don't even really interact with, I most definitely want to build something myself. I've got some ideas about how I want to go about doing it, and this video not only helped fortify some of my ideas, but it gave me a few more new ideas. I can't wait until I build them their new playground.
Just a tip. Birds love to play with toys they can destroy. You can buy or make it yourself, as long as the materials are safe for animals and are destructible your bird will love it!
i bought some materials this weekend to try and make some similar things for my budgies and cockatiels, now that i saw your process i feel more inspired and confident that i can actually do it; great video
Good idea with the frame! The beepers love apple wood. 👍I like to use hazelnut, willow or maple because it grows behind the house. 2 days ago I had published a recycling video for budgerigar toys.
Loved watching this video was so fun! You are having a beautiful little birds live in Paradise! Glad to see there was a cockatiel that it was enjoying these creations as well😄👍

Just a little reminder Alen about apple branches, hope you dont mind, but in the UK we have bird flu so here must not introduce anything from the garden to our domestic birds. I love your videos and the way you love your own little birds, thank you for sharing 😊🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦

Hello Alen I have a question? I have a parakeet bird and she just layed eggs. After it hatched she smashed it right away, why? And what should I do? Thank you
@@alenaxp thank you for answering my questions Yes first time.. and when the baby out of the egg ,she didn't feed her baby, sadly the baby didn't make it
Each bird needs their own cage. The two cages should be large enough for them to fly around, the bigger the better. The tiny cages you see in pet stores are actually just carrying cages you'd use to take them to the Vet. You will also need a common area where they are allowed to play, socialize and fly around for at least two hours every day. Build your own playground, trees, and stands throughout your home so they can fly from one Safe Zone to another. Keep them out of kitchens and do not use aerosol spray / harsh cleaning supplies around them. Good luck! If you're not careful and crafty budgies will easily break your budget lol
Oh! And extremely careful when you purchase anything parakeet-related from online or petstores. Just because it's marketed towards budgie care and has a picture of a parakeet on the packaging *does not* mean it's always safe. This is unfortunately the case for MOST toys you come across. The petstore employee knows nothing. Things to avoid: Stay away from bells that may be made out of lead and spray painted to look shiny, cotton rope that can choke your bird to death through indigestion / chewing, and ANYTHING made out of fuzzy polyester fabric that greatly damages their sensitive respiratory system. Do not buy them nests that makes them hormonal or "Happy Hammocks" that are known to kill birds overnight. Do not give them mirror toys. Avoid seed-only diets and do not buy pellets with colored dyes in them. Get the expensive stainless steel bowls, they are worth it in the long run *not* the cheap plastic ones. Most of all, keep doing what you've been doing and conduct your own research. Question everything and be suspicious of all parakeet toys, food, and items before you impulse buy.
Hi Alen my pet bird sky is acting strange… He is barely eating or drinking and he is just sleeping half of the day not being active. I don’t know what to do I THINK he might be sick what would you do?
That could be anything, for how long is he acting like that? That could be during molt season, if he is bored can be a reason too. To be sure and act on time, it is recommended to take your budgie to the vet if you have doubts about his health condition.
Hello, I didn’t know where to write, and I hope you will help me. Recently, my budgie started to change her nose colour. And no, it’s not because she is getting older. She had the nose of grown up female budgie. Brown. But now, her nose is half blue, half dark brown. Also, I think she is sick. She became less active and is almost all the time sleeping. Can you please help me?
This is a common problem that we don't see spoken about often enough. It is tragic. I feel a burning anger whenever I visit Petco and see white cotton rope or plastic twine used in bird toys. It needs to stop. I am sorry for your loss.
i would rather say just spent an hour to play with them morning and evening i completely forgot how to operate TV i dont know when i did reacharge the last time for the tv i play with my budgies and my lovely ringneck i play with them for an hour till the get sleepy once they sleep they sleep and then i will do my work they again wake up eat and again take a nap...i also provide enough outof cage time for them i only have 3 birds my 2 budgies and ringneck..i cant make toys because it is hard to gather all that stuff in india..
Yess bro the toys are expensive..... I am also from India..... Are your birds happy.... Don't you have any toys.... How to you play with them... Will playing with then be better then buying toys
you should also mention this goes for all fruit trees you must know the history of the tree if the tree has ever had pesticides used on it even if it was once 50/100 years ago it needs to be avoided the toxins from the pesticide will live in the tree and kill your bird
You are right, but that is common sense. You cant get dirty trees or trees that used pesticides. Same for humans. But great tip, will get that warning in my future videos
@Alen AxP Yeah, but you'd be surprised how many ppl miss that ...I've been enjoying your content. I keep Macaw and make my own toys. I would buy them if I could get them. Is it better to make Your own than Buy toys from the pet store?
Yesn't
Yes...in few days with the budgies you have those all gonna be drenched in budgies poop or they will keep chewing the wood ..haha..cute birdies
Should i trim my budgie nails? Even though they freak out every time i put my hand inside their cage. Nails get caught in the rope toys that they have
Wow

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Can you use any type of tree braches?are any harmful and materials your using?my bud tends to gnaw on everything.
You can use any tree branches but before using boil then dry and remove the upper layer of the sticks. Its better if you use driftwood
Superb... Thanks for sharing such an amazing videos
❤
It's best to bake the branches in the oven before making toys because any branches taken from outside could contain parasites and bacteria.
What why of tree branches can we us?
💯💯💖💖

Be careful of using ropes! I had a budgie die because he ate so much rope fibres they built up in his stomach until he could no longer eat actual food

you are using cool stuff for your own pet bird
I hope the paint on that stuff is non-toxic, most likely it’s not.
And most likely those wooden beads are toxic wood.
