At long last it's part one of my crash course on character creation! I say 'creation' and not 'design' because this video actually involves no visual art. Instead we'll be going over how to conceptualize a character. For me personally, I can't design what a character looks like until I know at least the basics of who they are and where they fit into the story. I hope you all find this helpful or at least interesting!
Frogpaw isn't in this video but they get to be in the thumbnail because I love them.

I have a potentially fun suggestion for Gemini. Maybe, since he learned to be a healer outside of the clans, he has some unconventional healing methods, like ones that no one else seemed to have thought of. It could lead to some funny moments, or simply highlight that the rogues are different :3

Honestly, you're one of my biggest inspirations rn for my art and storytelling, so I can't wait for part 2! To me, Tucker is the name of the cool laidback uncle who lets you light fireworks. I think it'd be funny if Campionpaw misinterpreted his level head as him being this awesome and indifferent cat when he's really just some guy.

I have a lot more steps in my character creation. In no particular order I decided the cats’; name, pelt pattern, eye color(s), physical features, clan, rank, age, pronouns, parent(s), sibling(s), mentor(s), apprentice(s), mate(s), kit(s), story role, personality, important relationships, skills, and add any extra notes. I usually have several unfinished characters at the same time, and on some characters I end up leaving things like personality, relationships, or skills, so I can figure it out when I find a place in the story that needs to be filled. For example on a background character I might leave personality blank, then when there’s a scene where someone tries to kill a kittypet for trespassing but none of the cats that I have personality for would do that, I would give that background character a personality that would make them do that.
