This answers my problem, I had just moderate cracks that I carefully fillered with wood glue fine sawdust and wood filler so it's shells I need. And a small blowtorch I guess. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I wish you luck, the gourds are fragile and I found the shellac forms a hard shell around the cracks. Be careful with the blowtorch though, it will remove the surrounding varnish if you don't protect it. I used a metal scraper to deflect the heat.
I had a lifetime supply of shellac so thought I'd give it a go. The result is certainly a firm repair which is what I needed, it being such a delicate instrument. Thanks for watching.
