    I wrap the threads with Kapton tape and it keeps the solder and flux out of the threads

    Great video Rich. I have switch all of my connectors to AN150s (AS150) They are great for winter flyers as they are easy to grip with weak or frozen fingers.

    Very good, I want to change all my 6mm Bullet connectors to AN150s.

    It may be helpful to mention what type of solder to use. Other than that, you covered what I was looking for. Nice job.

    Very professional and, of course, useful...thanks RCINFORMER !

    I have this exact setup, delivering up to 200amps through the connectors. Is AN150 sufficient? Very nice seeing you're doing it.

    Why is the connector set with the anti-spark resistor on the ESC side instead of the battery side?

    • @RCINFORMER
      @RCINFORMER  4 роки тому +4

      So you only need one spark arrestor. Otherwise you need one for every battery:)

      @@RCINFORMER Makes sense! Too bad they only come in packages with one pair regular and one par anti-spark, so you'll have the same number regardless. Since that's the case, I figured that having the anti-spark on the battery side might be a good idea because the resistor is a potential failure point and I'd rather have the connector on the batter side die instead of the device side so I can still fly out in the field with another battery if that happened.

      @@strawhatsam you can still put a spark arrestor bullet on the battery also & use it with the plane. You will just have two arrestors in the system. I think they sell them in bags with just the male and female dummy bullets for the battery side of the system.

    Why does everyone stick the gun in the hole? Heat the connector up on the side!

    Is this the same as an AS 150. Where can you get the AN 150?

    To ensure that I never plug the negative into the positive on the same battery I alway have female connectors for both negative and positive on the batteries. This way i cannot plug female into female.

      RC Addict That will work also... it can be done both ways. The way you are doing it adds the risk of connecting the batteries to the plane in reverse-polarity. I had a friend do that once with bullet connectors and the plane nearly burt to the ground & ALL the electronics were destroyed & it caused a spark & it almost blew up the batteries! Either way there is a down side, you just have to decide which way works best for you. It's a bit of a trade-off of risk. Your method also requires a separate male-to-male connector wire to join the batteries in series. So far, the manufacturers that use these connectors, mostly have the ESC set up with a one male spark arrestor bullet on the red positive wire & a female bullet on the black negative wire.

      +RCINFORMER Good points. I did have to add in my own connectors on the ESCs. I guess the bottom line is to pay close attention when plugging things in. BTW A lessons learnt for the folks new to AN 150s..... You have to watch the heat with those males with the capacitor. I have popped one due to too much heat while soldering. I use these connectors on my HSD super viper, HSD F-16 and Freewing Mig 21. The next time I get batteries, they will be Roaring Tops. I have heard some great things about them. Your endorsement also carries a lot of weight.

      Good comments....Thanks for watching! its best to set it up the way you prefer and follow your own procedure carefully when connecting these batteries...

      To minimize ruining the Anti-Spark arrestor on the male conn, plug it into a loose female conn (not on a batt) so it holds the resistor part firmly to keep it from swelling and deforming. The female conn also acts as a small heat sink to take some of the heat away.

    please stop saying you need to wait for solder to "dry"
